《Delightful》Rebel in disguise

Driving my car late at night seems like therapy, it makes my problems ease without me doing anything.
Coming back from work, I release a long exhausted sigh as I slump against the seat when I stop at a red light right in the centre of the city.
Resting my elbow on the window, I look over the lights that are bright around me, sometimes looking at these city lights makes me loose track of time, like the last time I looked at them, I didn't realise that the traffic light had went green and people were honking at me. I lightly laugh remembering that memory.
A loud rumble of a car coming to a stop next to mine captures my attention.
But my breathing gets stuck in my throat when I notice it's a man. Thin layer of stubble, hair cut so clean as if he had them just cut, trimmed from the sides while slightly longer hair remain on top of his head. His fingers that have a cigarette in them move closer to his lips as he takes in a breath, inhaling that toxic drug before puffing out a cloud of smoke. The soft glow of the lights around the city reflect on his face showing me his sharp jaw, smooth face and the
darkness that seems to wrap around him.
My heart stops when he looks over at me. His ink dark black eyes glint under the red lights, the side of his face lit red as if indicating danger. A shiver runs down my spine but then through the second puff of smoke, he winks at me with a smirk on his face.
Instantly, I feel hot all over, right before I can think, he drives off with loud rumbling noises his car and the smoke following him as if shadows were made for him.

And that was it. Just that small moment that took my breath away, and I didn't see him again.
Not until I had a new boss at the office.
Right before I was about to resign for not being treated right by my previous one.
And when my eyes caught those same dark eyes that have been appearing in my dreams for the past two months, I crumble that resignation letter in my hand under the table.
When he interviews each person, seeing their work ethic and firing some, I realise I want to stay. And I want some lines blurred.
Even the riskiest and most dangerous lines.
"Ms Abelli?" My heart rate picks up and my hands turn clammy, stomach twists and turns with nervousness.
I step a foot in the office of our new Director, I see him. He is the same man.
"Have a seat." He motions over to the chair in front of him, and I sit. Composed because I am staying.
"As you know, I am your new Director, Mr Hades Spierce." He stretches a hand out for me to shake. His dark eyes holding the same dangerous glint yet here, instead of a rebel, he looks clean, classy and a complete businessman. A crips grey suit hugging every inch of his muscled body. Each piece looking as if it is made for him and only him.
When I do, I feel that ever so slight touch of his thumb move up and down once, then twice.
His eyes hold mine with a strong force as if daring me to look away.
"I hope to be working very closely to you. Since you were the assistant to the previous one, I am hoping you would do an exceptional job to being mine too."
Right at the end of that sentence, he gives a wink with that same smirk and I know he recognised me.
And my heart didn't stop fluttering.
"I would only hope I can fulfil your wishes."

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
