《The Impossible Girl》One

Marrisa stepped off the bus and headed towards Forks. She had talked the bus driver into taking her a little closer than Port Angeles, since she was the only fare. She had been traveling for quite a while.
When Bella was ten years old, Marrisa left. She needed to get away. The loss of her child still crippling her. So, she traveled. She told Bella and Charlie that she would be back, she wasn't leaving forever.
Now, she was coming back home. Marrisa was gone for eight years; Bella would now be eighteen. Marrisa knew that Bella came and went, only visiting Charlie in the summer. She hoped she would catch Bella there.
Hours went by and she finally came to her all too familiar street. Walking up to the drive she saw an old, red Chevy truck. No Police Cruiser. Had Charlie moved? She ran up to the door and knocked frantically.
The door swung open to reveal a woman with chocolate brown eyes and long brown hair. The woman's eyes widened.
"Marrisa?"
"Hey, Bells," Marrisa grinned.
Bella threw her arms around her sister's neck. "Oh, my God!"
Marrisa hugged her back as tightly as she could. She buried her face in the crook of Bella's neck, squeezing her eyes shut. Bella pulled Marrisa inside and shut the door, still locked in the embrace.
"Bella?"
A man's voice sounded behind them. The girls jumped at the sound, both quickly wiping their tears away. Bella went to grab his hand and start introductions.
"Edward, this is Marrisa. She's... my older sister," she smiled.
Edward's eyes widened slightly as he looked down at Bella. "Sister?"
Marrisa took this moment to truly look at the man. His hair was bronze, his face was pale and perfect. His posture was perfect. He even looked like he was holding his breath...
He was a vampire, but the eyes weren't their usual glowing red. Every vampire she's ever met has had red eyes. Why were his golden?
"Marrisa?" Bella called, waving her hand in front of her face.
Marrisa blinked and her eyes flickered to her little sister. Oh, she was going to have a talk with her.
Marrisa didn't say a word as she walked to living room and pointed to the couch. "Sit."

Bella quickly walked to the couch and sat. She knew her sister was upset about something. Marrisa looked to Edward.
"Come." She demanded.
Edward hesitated, looking to Bella for help.
"Don't make me repeat myself," Marrisa said, her voice raised.
Edward walked over and stopped in front of her. She began to circle him.
"Is he your boyfriend?" Marrisa asked of Bella.
"Yes," she said in a small voice.
Marrisa nodded. Now, why in the hell was she dating a vampire? Does she know? Marrisa picked up Edward's hand, feeling the coldness and rock hard skin. Yep, vampire. She stopped back in front of him, hands now on her hips.
"Isabella. Do you want to tell me why you're dating a vampire?" Marrisa asked, holding Edward's gaze.
There was a panicked look that flashed across his features. Marrisa smirked.
"Because I love him?" Bella's answer came out as a question.
"You knew?"
Bella flicked her eyes around the room. "No?"
Marrisa sighed, rubbing her face with her hands and grumbling to herself.
"You!" Marrisa pointed at him angrily. "Why are your eyes gold and not red?"
"I feed from animals."
Marrisa blinked. "You don't kill humans?"
"No."
"Why are you with my sister?"
"She's my mate."
Well, shit, Marrisa thought to herself.
"God damnit!" She yelled, throwing her hands into the air. A surge of anger passed through the house, making all of the cabinet door fly open. Pots and pans, plates and glasses were all thrown off their places on the shelves and crashed onto the kitchen floor. All three pairs of eyes stared at the mess.
Bella sighed. "I'll go get the broom," she grumbled.
As Bella started sweeping up the mess, Edward spoke to Marrisa.
"Was that you?"
"Yes," Marrisa sighed. "Sometimes my anger gets the best of me. Okay, most times."
Edward smiled slightly. He tried to read her mind. Nothing.
"Are there more of you?" Marrisa asked.
"Yes. My family. We all share the same diet."
"How many?"
"Seven. Including me."
Marrisa sighed again.
"We aren't like the vampires you obviously know. We blend in with humanity. My siblings and I go to school with Bella. My father is a doctor at the local hospital."

"That's... pretty impressive," Marrisa admitted.
Edward stiffened, then smiled.
"I should be going. Bella? Charlie is almost home. I'll see you tomorrow morning?" Edward smiled.
Bella nodded, taking a break from sweeping. They kissed goodbye.
"Wait. You have school tomorrow?" Marrisa asked.
They both nodded.
"Would it be okay if I drive you?"
Bella smiled. "Absolutely."
They bid Edward a goodbye. Pretty soon after, Charlie came through the front door.
"Hey, dad." Marrisa grinned as she snuck up on him.
Charlie jumped and whirled around. He froze for a solid three seconds, then threw everything in his hands down and grabbed up his eldest daughter.
"I missed you so much," he whispered.
As the Swans caught up with each other, they sat at the kitchen table eating dinner. Charlie chewed Marrisa out for breaking the majority of the dishes. Time flew by and Charlie noticed the time on the stove.
"Oh, hell. It's almost midnight," Charlie mumbled.
"Let's go to bed, Marrisa," Bella said, dragging her upstairs.
Both girls got ready for bed, snuggling up to each other. They both fell asleep quickly, the most comfortable they've been in a very long time.
Marrisa hating driving the old truck. She didn't trust it one bit.
"How can you drive this thing?" Marrisa grimaced, taking a wide turn. She gripped the steering wheel tightly, like it would run away.
"Don't hate the truck," Bella smiled.
Marrisa rolled her eyes. Forks High School came into view and she veered into the parking lot. Bella pointed out a spot close to Edward's Volvo. The girls jumped out of the truck.
Bella's friends, Jessica and Angela, ran up to them.
"Bella! Who is this?" Jessica said rather loudly.
"Uh, hey Jess. This is Marrisa. My sister," Bella said.
"Your sister? I didn't know you had a sister," Angela looked excited.
Marrisa already liked Angela better than Jessica.
"Are you going to be going to school with us?" Jessica demanded.
"God, no. I'm no longer in school," Marrisa grimaced.
"We gotta go, I'll see you in class," Bella quickly pulled Marrisa to the group of vampires, much to her dismay.
"Hey, Bella! Word is you have a sister," Emmett grinned.
"Hey, Emmett. Yeah, this is Marrisa," Bella smiled excitedly.
Emmett held out is hand. "Nice to meet you."
Marrisa genuinely smiled, shaking his hand. "Pleasure."
While introductions were being made, Alice was more ecstatic than usual. She kept Edward out of her head by singing several songs in Cantonese.
There was silence when Jasper was introduced. Jasper couldn't believe what he was seeing. Could this really be her? Both of them stared at each other, wide-eyed. Jasper's thoughts were racing so quickly that Edward couldn't keep up. She looked the same to Jasper, but somewhat different. Her hair was longer, down to her butt now. He took a tentative step forward.
Marrisa took a step back, not saying a word.
"Marrisa?" Jasper asked cautiously.
It was him. She would recognize that voice anywhere. It was too much. Too much. Marrisa gripped the truck keys tightly and ran back to the truck. She sped out of the lot, racing back home.
Suddenly, Jasper collapsed. He wrapped his arms around himself, suddenly feeling insecure. His chest felt tight, like he couldn't breathe...
He was having a panic attack, but it wasn't his. It was Marrisa's. Jasper started to sob.
"Jasper!?" Rosalie knelt down next to her brother, her eyes wide with fear.
Alice shushed Rosalie. She knelt down next to her and spoke lowly.
"I'll take him home. Edward, call Carlisle and have him meet me there."
Edward was immediately on the phone, hissing into the receiver.
"What's going on?" Bella demanded, doing her best to keep her voice down.
Alice was helping Jasper into Emmett's jeep. "Don't worry, Bella. Jasper will be fine, he just needs some distance. Your sister's emotions are quite strong."
"Marrisa is doing this? I'm so sorry, I-"
Alice took Bella's face in her hands.
"It's okay, Bella. I promise," she flashed a dazzling smile.
Alice jumped into the jeep and took off.
The final bell sounded, making Bella and the remaining three vampires late to class.
