Twigs and semi dry leafs crunched underneath the two pair of feet that walked on them, the latter leaving a trail of fresh blood. However this blood wasn't from the deer she'd eaten, rather from the shard sticks and rocks that pierced the bottom of her foot. Ryn hide her pain well, not knowing where she stood in the food chain and in unfamiliar territory she thought it best to play it cool. Though she could help but to ogle at Emmett's bare back, seeing he had given her his shirt which reached just below her knees. On first glance one would say he was free from imperfections, his marble like skin making him look like a Greek statue, however if you looked close enough you could see faint claw like marks embedded in his skin. For some unknown reason Ryn felt extremely put off by this, who would hurt her Emmett.
After awhile the pair finally reached a beautiful snow covered house, where golden light illuminated the inside and out. Ryn was amazed, having never seen such structure before. Stilling, Emmett turned slightly to see what had made the girl stop so suddenly, they're were 75 yards away from the Denali house.
"Ryn?" He asked concerned. He could see the hesitance on her face, besides him she'd never faced a land dweller before. "It okay." He assured, putting on a bright happy smile. "They're my family, they won't hurt you."
Tilting her head to the side Ryn moved her mouth to pronounce the word Emmett just used. "Fam-famly?"
Emmett nodded letting go of the sirens hand, much to her disappointment, and began to gesture widely with his hands. Moving his hands in a cupping circular motion Emmett pointed to the house in front of them and then to himself. "Family. Safe."

Even though Ryn didn't quite understand what the big brute was saying she knew deep in her heart that she could trust him. So taking his cold, freezing hand in her warm one Ryn marched towards the house, a new found confidence filling her. Emmett easily allowed the siren drag him, watching from behind as Ryn had to take big long steps just to get through the snow.
"She's here!" A high pitched squealed throwing open the door, sadly taking it off its hinges. "Alice, my door!" Carmon shouted. Ryn frozen in place, eyeing the small pixie like creature in front of her. Though Emmett had told her she'd be okay Ryn was still on edge, unsure of the small female in front of her. And yes she was small, smaller than Ryn and that was saying something.
Before Alice could jump and attack Ryn with a bone crushing hug Jasper wrapped the girl in his arms, detaining her for however long he could. A familiar head of blonde hair came out of the house making Emmett beam in happiness, and Ryn calm slightly. Although she never met or spent time with Rosalie Ryn felt a strange connection to her, the same way she felt towards Emmett.
"Babe!" He greeted cheerfully, letting go of Ryn's hand and bounding towards his wife. In a quick, swift motion Emmett cupped Rosalie's face in his hand and place a loving kiss on her lips. Once they separated, which took a while, Emmett turned and gestured to Ryn. "I told you I met a mermaid!"
"Let me go! I want to meet my new sister!" Alice shouted, covering her mouth once the last sentence.
"Ryn." Emmett gestured for her to come closer.
Pushing herself forward Ryn began walking towards the vampire family, feeling overwhelmed with the amount of eyes that were on her. Behind Emmett stood a slightly older couple who had each other in a sweet embrace, to the right was the jumpy little pixie still being held by the brooding blonde. On the left stood a dark haired couple accompanied by three beautifully striking blondes. To her it was weird to see so many males freely hanging around, and with the females being comfortable no less.

When the small brunette reached Emmett, he gestured to his wife, silently telling her to introduce herself. "I am Ryn." She introduced ignoring Rosalie's awaiting hand, instead she mimiced Emmett's earlier action. Stepping on her tippy toes, seeing as Rosalie was a great deal taller than her, Ryn place her hands on the side of her face and smashed her lips onto Roses. Everyone watched with wide eyes at the scene in front of them, Emmett who stood of to the side watching wide eyed as his mermaid friend and wife kissed. Rosalie herself was frozen in shock, literally, hey own her wide open as Ryn held her in place. After a while Ryn left go of Rose, a small smile on her lips as she turned to look at Emmett for praise.
Confused, Ryn tilted her head to the side. "Okay, yes?" She questioned.
Hearing the siren speak Emmett was pulled out of his trance, looking to the smaller girl with a smile small. "Uh, yeah." He said, still processing what happened.
With everyone's shock and confusion Alice took this chance to brake free from her husbands hold and sped right to Ryn. "Finally!" She cried cheerfully, taking Ryn into a tight hug. "I'm Alice, we're going to be best friends!"
Nodding at her words Ryn pulled away slightly from the smaller girl. "I am Ryn." She repeated, cupping Alice's face and bringing her head down to kiss her lips. However before their lips met Alice was pulled out of Ryn's arms, and Ryn was wrapped in another set of arms.
Looking up she found Emmett holding onto her securely, "That's not how we greet people." He explained gently.
"How about we go inside, huh?" Esme piped, a silly smile playing on her lips. "Get Ryn out of this nasty cold."

Kichiro's Rampage
Meet Kichiro, the son of a samurai. A social outcast, he leaves his home with nothing but a musket and a sword, determined to carve himself a niche in a chaotic world of dragons and leviathans. This fiction incorporates LitRPG elements, but it's not set in a VR. It's set in a fantastical world based loosely on East Asia in the 16th and 17th Century, when the Ming Dynasty was on its last legs, with the addition of magic and monsters. I totally stole the stat tables from Exterminatus, the author of Everybody Loves Large Chests, so let me credit him for that. I'm new to writing so please don't hesitate to criticise, and reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Tabula Rasa : An Unbound Adventure
It starts as many things do: a clean slate, an empty page. What once was set in stone and wholly writ is gone, and all that's left is the vague notion of absence, a fullness lacking. The feeling of being tetherless, pathless, without direction or responsibility is something many would find terrifying. Others might find it freeing - an opportunity to strike out on new adventures and explore the unknown.Either way, first they have to figure out where they are and how they leave. ====== My first novel on this platform! An avid GameLit/LitRPG fan, I decided to start writing this when I seemed to exhaust all of my options for well reviewed content on the site! Inspiration for the world/general feeling is a mix of Azarinth Healer, Abyssal Road Trip, Winterborn, and the Power of Ten series, with a strong reliance on 3.5 and PF1 frameworks as a scaffold for the world. I see Arc 1 as a Robinson Crusoe style coming to terms scenario, lots of exploration of the System, the MC's options, the island and encounters with the denizens and visitors of the Timeless Isle, with a non-zero amount of introspection around their long term goals. I'll publish as frequently as I'm able but don't have a regular cadence planned at the moment.
