Acting on instinct and instinct alone Ryn raised her hand out of the water and slashed at the male, creating four claw mark cracks across his face. Sinking back into the water she began to heads towards the cave entrance only to stop before she entered. There was an invisible tug at her heart that forced her to stop and reconsider her feelings towards the male. With a hiss of annoyance Ryn slowly made her way back to the rocks, taking a second of thought before pushing past the water barrier.

"You have a killer right hook." Emmett laughed brightly, his pearly whites practically blinding Ryn as the sun reflected off of them.

Tilting her head to the side in confusion she looked towards the male in a questioning gaze, watching in amazement as the cracks in his face began to instantaneously heal.

Emmett let out a quiet sigh, his smile slightly faltering. "You don't understand a single thing I'm saying do you." He muttered to himself.

In a flash of an eye he turned and pulled something out from the bag that laid beside him. The sudden, unexpected movement startled Ryn causing her to sink further into the water in anticipation.

"Oh, no!" Exclaimed Emmett, watching as she sink further into the water and began to slowly move away from the rocks. "It's okay." He assured, slowly presenting a dead fish carcass, making Ryn's stomach growl.

"Here it's yours." Motioning his hand up and down the siren snatched the meat out his hand, immediately sinking her teeth into the fish and letting out a hum of approval.

Sitting back on the rock as the brunette ate Emmett absentmindedly dipped his feet into the water, unaffected by the freezing temperature. "I didn't know what type of food you liked so I gottcha a couple of fish, that's not cannibalism is it?" He asked mostly to himself.

As he droned on Ryn finished the rest of the fish that had been given to her in record time, leaving nothing but it's skeletal remains. Dropping the bones and watching as it sunk towards the bottom she thrusted her hand out to the male, motioning for more. Emmett happily complied, grabbing another fish from the bag and presenting it to her, only the time he withheld it from her making Ryn let out a hiss of anger.

"Food." He pronounced slowly and dramatically. "Can you say it? Foood?"

Her brow furrowed in concentration, knowing that he would only give her the dead animal if she said what it was he kept repeating. Her mouth gaped open like a fishes searching for the correct mouth movements, like back of her throat made strange sounds that she wasn't used to.

"F-ood." She stuttered shakily, not used to the human language. "F-ood." She repeated once again for good measure, holding out her hand for the fish.

With a excited congratulations Emmett happily handed the girl a fish, watching in awe as she tore through it in seconds. This happened over and over again, Emmett would hold out a fish to her and would give it unless she said the word. After a couple of time Ryn finally got the word down, saying it with ease. Hours past as the two enjoyed their time in the lake, so much so Ryn didn't notice the sun setting until it was to late.

Hesitantly she swam closer to Emmett, close enough were she cold feel his cold feet brushing against her tail. Bringing her hand to hover above her forehead she slowly dragged it down to her nose before resting it outwards, showing him the siren movement for 'goodbye'.

"Uh, you too?" He mimicked hesitantly, doing the same movement she had.

With a small smile Ryn submerged into the water, letting her fin fit the surface of the water as she left to playfully splash Emmett. Racing back to the tunnel she rushed to get home, hoping, praying that no one noticed her absence.

At the speed of light Emmett rushed to the Denali's, cheering loudly as he did so, scaring all the animals within a hundred miles of him.

"You won't believe what I did today!" He roared, picking up his wife and spinning her.

"You actually managed to get her to hang out with you?" Edward voiced, hearing Emmett's thoughts shout.

Patting her husbands shoulder in a silent sign to put her down Rosalie, examined his damp attire. "Em, you all wet. What happened?" She asked concern, fearing he had gotten dragged into the water again.

Bounding into the living room, whilst dragging Rosalie behind him, Emmett gathered everyone around to tell them what happened. Although most weren't happy about the fact she'd clawed his face they were glad Emmett managed to befriend the mermaid.

"Then, then she did this weird hand gesture," Emmett mimicked the hand movement he previously learn, proud at his knowledge. "And when I did it she smiled! It wasn't a big smile, but still!" He stated thrilled.

"All this commotion has me curious." Tanya laughed, her sister joining in. "When will we be able to meet this creature?"

Emmett staled, swallowing the nonexistent saliva in his throat. "I don't know." He said sheepishly. "I don't think she'd be to fond of unexpected visitors. I mean she was completely on edge with just me."

Just as Carlisle opened his mouth to speak Alive came bounding into the room with Jasper in tow. Edward immediately tensed, his jaw clenching so tight you could hear it cracking.

Looking at Emmett with an apologetic glaze Alice focused her attention on the elders in the group. "There's a problem. It's Bella."
