Ryn was one out of hundreds of mermaids who lived in a deep lake, with underground networks connecting to the ocean. Ever since she could remember there was a rule that forbid any mermaid to go up to the surface, an act punishable by banishment. Though she kept to this rule one day Ryn had this sudden urge to go up to the surface, where one act changed her life.
