"So" Alice said to Theresa, nudging her, as they stood in the cafeteria line, waiting to get their food.

"What can I possibly help you with Alice?" Theresa asked with a smile as she turned to look at the Cullen girl.

"You seem to be awfully happy after studying with my brother" The pixie haired girl said with a smirk.

Theresa stood up a little straighter, knowing what the Cullen girl was trying to say, "Well, he helped me gain more confidence in taking my test today. So, I'm not as worried anymore" Theresa said, giving Alice a smile.

"Tess, don't take this the wrong way, but you've never actually genuinely smiled in school until today."

"And what's that suppose to mean?" Theresa asked Alice, but was instead answered by Bella, "I just think what Alice is trying to say is that a certain Cullen has caught your eye" Bella said, cutting in line in front of Theresa, and grabbing an apple.

"You're joking, right?" Theresa asked, causing Bella to roll her eyes, "Oh come on Tess, don't play dumb with me."

"I do not like Jasper. We are just friends, that's all" Theresa said as she picked a bag of chips.

"I think that will change in the future, don't you think so Alice?" Bella asked, tilting her head at Alice, "Why yes Bella, I do."

Theresa laughed lightly, paying for her lunch, before speaking, "In your dreams."

"Well, let's just say I have knack for knowing if two people are going to be together in the future," Alice paid for her lunch before continuing to speak, "And you, my friend, are in for a treat" She said as Bella and her began walking over towards their table, leaving Theresa standing alone next to the register as she watched the two sit down at the table, her eyes inevitably going to Jasper's seat, where he always sat and was now sitting, laughing at something Emmett had just said.

She watched as the Cullen boy looked over at her and smiled before nodding his head for her to join them. She smiled and began walking towards the table where her friends all sat.

Theresa watched in amusement as Emmett challenged Bella to arm wrestle him for what seemed to be the 100th time as they ate lunch.

"Come on! Your just scared I'm going to beat you."

"Am not."

"You totally are."

"Emmett stop trying to arm wrestle my girlfriend" Edward said as Theresa felt heard her phone go off, causing her to turn her attention from the two goofballs to her coat pocket where her phone was located.

Can you get a ride to the station or do I need to come and get you? It's important.

"Charlie needs me at the police station."

"I'll take you-" Bella said, but was cut off by Jasper, "No, you stay. Ill take her."

"You can't keep skipping biology class Jasper" Rosalie said.

"I wouldn't be skipping, Tess needed a ride," Jasper said, smiling at Theresa before continuing to speak, "Besides a note from the Chief of Police should get me out of that problem."

Alice smirked at Theresa as Theresa gave her a glare, before picking up her backpack from the tile floor of the cafeteria and leaving with Jasper.

Theresa watched as Charlie stood out front of the police station, his hat in his hands.

"Jasper" Theresa said, pausing before continuing, "What's going on?" She asked him as he parked the car directly in front of the police station.

"I don't know," Jasper said, turning off his car before continuing, "But we're about to find out" He said with a sigh.

"Charlie, what's wrong?" Theresa said as she got out of the car, not giving Jasper enough time to open the door for her.

"Your father came to visit you" He said as Theresa's face lit up with happiness.

"That's great! Where is he?" Theresa asked, looking around for her father.

"He went out on a fishing trip with a buddy of ours while he waited for school to be out."

"Okay," Theresa said as she laughed nervously, "That doesn't answer my question Charlie, where's my dad?" She asked him again.

"They didn't end up going fishing."

"What do you mean?" Theresa asked, her smile faltering.

"They were attacked by some kind of animal."

"On a boat dock?" Theresa asked with a raised eyebrow, not believing what she had just heard, "How do animals even get on a boat dock?" She asked no one in particular as she looked from Charlie to Jasper.

"Oh my gosh!" Theresa yelled, realizing the seriousness of the situation, "We need to get to the hospital now!" She yelled running towards Jasper's car, but was stopped by Jasper holding out his arm, halting her from running any further to the car.

"Tess-" Charlie said, but was cut off by Theresa as she turned around to face him, "I know you need to stay here to help find whatever attacked my dad and your friend, don't worry Jasper will take care of me."

Theresa turned back around to face Jasper, "Let's go" She said as Jasper used both hands, wrapping them around her waist, now to stop her from going to the car. "Jasper!" Theresa yelled, struggling to get out of his grip, "Let go of me!"

"Theresa" Charlie said again, this time using her full name, gaining her full attention, and causing her to stop struggling against Jasper.

"What?" She yelled as she turned to face him, Jasper's hands still tight around her waist.

"Your dad isn't at the hospital," Charlie said, taking a deep breath before continuing, "He's here."

Theresa stayed silent.

"We need next of kin to identify him, and that's you Theresa."

Theresa stood still, shocked, this couldn't be happening he came to see her, to be a family again.

Jasper walked away from the girl, giving her space to take in and absorb everything she was just told.

"Theresa, your fathers dead."

Jasper watched as the young girl fell to her knees in shock.

He ran as fast as he could towards her, not caring about who would see his vampire speed, he was only focused on Theresa, and making sure she was okay. He caught her before she was completely laying on the ground.

"No, no, no" Theresa kept repeating the same word through her tears.

"It's okay."

"You can't be gone daddy, you just can't!" Theresa yelled, causing attention to be drawn to her by on lookers who passed by.

"Jasper help me get her inside" Charlie said as he went to go help Jasper get Theresa to stand up and walk inside the police station, but Jasper stopped him by shaking his head and offering the godfather a smile, "I got it Chief, just go inside and get her some water" He said as Charlie nodded before hesitantly going inside the station, not before looking back at Theresa again, heartbroken.

"Hey darlin', we're gonna get out of this cold, okay?" Jasper reassured Theresa as he picked her up and carried her bridal style up the stairs and in to the police station.

"Thank you son" Charlie said as he held out his arms for Jasper to hand Theresa to him, the girl still sobbing in his arms, "I got it from here" He said as Jasper looked at the girl in his arms once more before nodding and handing her carefully to Charlie.

Jasper watch as Charlie walked down the hallway of the police station, with Theresa in his arms, right into a room with a door that was labeled, "Staff Only."
