《Bakugou X Kirishima's sister (Reader)》Chapter 34

That Friday afternoon Eijiro left school to head home for the weekend. He hadn't been home to see his grandma since she returned to the country, so he needed to make time this weekend for it. He hadn't seen her in almost a year because of her travels. Walking through the front door he could hear his family inside going about their day. Peeking his head into the kitchen he could see his mom and grandma working on something. He wasn't sure what, but it sure did smell good.

"Making something for me? You shouldn't have." A grin spreading across his face as they both looked up at him.

"Eijiro!" His grandma exclaimed setting down what she was working on, walking over to him, her hands beckoning him into a hug. "It's been so long dear. You sure look more like a man now" she leaned back to get a better look at him. He only smiled and shook his head at her flattery.

"Is it just you dear?" His mother looked up, while still mixing her ingredients in a bowl. "No Bakugou this time? You know he's always welcome."

"I was planning on staying the whole weekend with you guys, so I figured it'd be better. So, he wasn't stuck here all weekend." He moved into the kitchen getting down a glass for some water.

"And I was so looking forward to meeting him," his grandma feigned disappointment as she went back to her spot in the kitchen.

His eyes narrowed in suspicion, what was going on here. "Am I not enough for you two?" He kept his voice light, trying to figure out what they were up to.

His grandma laughed, "I just wanted to see what he was like, after that conversation with your sister last week. Speaking of your sister, we need to talk about that." She said it like she already knew the problem between you two.

He should have expected that, grandma gets information out of everyone, so why wouldn't she have gotten his sister to spill everything.

Leaning back against the counter he set his glass down, crossing his arms, "What's there to talk about? You've obviously already talked to her about it. What more do you need to know?"

"Eijiro don't get so defensive. Tell me your side of the story. I just want you two to make up already. That's what this is about." His grandma once again set down what she was doing to give him her full attention.

He looked at her a moment, trying to see if she had any ulterior motives, before he sighed, "It's stupid grandma."

"If its so stupid why are you two still fighting?" she questioned, she looked this close to walking over to him and smacking him on the back of the head.

She had a point, he thought, contemplating what he wanted to tell her. "Alright, it's just I told her not to try anything with my friend. And she agreed and if she just would have come forward and said something, I may not have been happy about it, but I would have gotten over it. She had so many chances to just tell me, but she kept it from me and lied to me about it. The only reason I even found out was because I found them making out in her room."

"They what?" His grandmas head shot up at what he said. Her eyes squinted, pursing her lips, "She left out some juicy details then." She paused taking in what Eijiro had to say, "Dear, I don't want you to feel like your feelings aren't valid, because they are. But I think you need to tell her about this. Let her know and have a real discussion."

He sighed, he knew she was right, she always was. "I'll talk to her when I see her next," he spoke half-heartedly.

"Great! She should be home tonight after her night out with Hoshi," his mom smiled at him.

He took a deep breath to settle him, not realizing that he would have to see her so soon. He didn't even know what he would say or where to begin. He had until tonight to figure that out.

"Now that that's out of the way, I have another question for you dear." His grandma pulled him from his thoughts.

"What is it, grandma?"

She stopped what she was doing again to look at him, "It's about your friend. Bakugou was it?" He nodded slowly, not sure where she was going with this. "Did you have something to do with them breaking up?"

He looked away, not wanting her to see the guilt on his face for calling him out. He spoke his words slowly, reluctant to admit he had anything to do with it at all. "I may have said something, to influence that decision."

She sighed, obviously not happy with his admittance. "Another question for you. Bakugou, is he happy right now?"

Keeping his gaze away from her he replied, "That's a complicated question. I wouldn't say he's a generally happy person at all."

She gave him a look, "Let me reword it then since you want to be smart, is he acting any different than how he normally does?"

He closed his eyes; he had a feeling about where this was going now. "I mean, he was fine in the summer, but now that we're back in school and Y/N's there he's been acting more unbearable than usual. He's more agitated and easily upset."

He looked at her then as she nodded like she had expected an answer like that. "I think you know what you need to do."

Standing there, still leaning against the counter, he didn't say anything for a moment, as he processed what they talked about, what had happened between him and his sister and what happened between him and Bakugou.

"Yeah, I do."

He didn't waste any time left with his grandma after that, he stayed in the kitchen with her and his mom as they made dinner and finished up the cake they had started making when he got home. Helping as best he could, but he didn't cook much and only really stayed to hear about his grandma's adventures in America. After dinner they watched some tv together, but it started getting late and she felt tired and excused herself to bed.

Now that he was alone, he was left to think about what he would say when his sister came home. He thought through everything, trying to figure out the real reason he was upset with her, because it wasn't just because of Bakugou. He went to the kitchen to get more water and sat at the table, processing his thoughts. He heard the door open and within a few seconds she appeared in the room startled to see him sitting there.

"We need to talk"

Eijiro sat at the table, looking at you expectantly. You were hesitant to indulge him in conversation but figured it must have been important if he stayed up for you.

"Sure, what's up?"

He took a deep breath before he began talking again, "I'm sorry for how I treated you these last few weeks. I was upset because you had lied to me. I-" he paused as he searched for what he wanted to say. "It was unfair of me to ask you to stay away from Bakugou. But I guess some part of me was upset with you because you always get what you want. No matter what it is, and I figured that my best friend could be off limits."

So that's what this was, it wasn't just that he was uncomfortable with you dating his friend. He was starting to resent you for getting your way. You and Eijiro, as children would share almost everything, but as time went on and you both began to grow up, that slowly came to an end. Your interests diverted and it may have seemed like you received more but it wasn't entirely true. "Eijiro, that's not true. I do not get whatever I want."

He gave you an are you serious kind of look, "Really? Mom and Dad let you live in another country for almost 2 years. Whenever you ask for something, have they ever really said no?" he waited a moment as you took in what he was saying, "But that's not even the point. What I'm trying to say is, I'm sorry."

When he finished talking, he looked at you with a sincere expression, and you knew he was honestly trying to get passed this.

"I'm sorry too, E. I shouldn't have lied or hid any of that from you. I wanted to tell you and I should have just found the courage and did it. But I was scared, because I didn't want things to turn out like this." You gestured around to the situation before you.

He smiled; it wasn't a happy one but you both knew this was the first step for things to go back to normal.

"Hey sis," you looked at him waiting for him to continue, "I'll talk to him, okay? I'm not saying it's going to fix anything and I'm sorry that I majorly messed that up for you, but I'll try."

Your smile didn't quite reach your eyes as you listened to what he had to say. "E?" your voice soft as you contemplated if this was something you wanted to ask.

"Hmm?"

"What exactly did you say to him that night?" Part of you didn't want to know how easily it was for him to let you go. But the other part of you wanted so desperately to know what it took for him to break up with you.

He cleared his throat, taking a moment, his eyes slightly glazed over like he was reliving that moment again. "I basically told him the same thing I told you before. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable with him dating you, and that as my friend he should respect that. And I said that he would have to choose, because I wasn't going to stick around for that."

You nodded, face blank, trying not to show how you truly felt. You had been right in thinking that it was an ultimatum between the two of you. Turning to leave, you couldn't bring yourself to really say anything else.

"You know he almost picked you," His statement stopped you in the middle of the doorway. A breath caught in your throat at what you heard him say. You paused before slowly turning back to him.

"What did you say?"

"He almost picked you. I saw it on his face as he was contemplating his options. He probably thought that because we were friends and had been through so much already that we would make up at some point and things could go back to normal. And he may have been right."

Your eyebrows knitted together as he spoke, "So what happened?"

Eijiro turned from you then, he made a face like he was hoping you wouldn't have asked him that.

He sighed before answering your question, "I asked him, if he still wanted to be the number 1 pro hero. He had looked at me like I was insane, like if that was even a question." He paused like he was struggling to finish what he was saying. "And then I asked him how his training and progress had come along since you both got together. That's when his face changed and that's when he said he'd break up with you."

That's what Eijiro meant when he said he wasn't sure he could fix this. It wasn't just a choice between the two of you. Bakugou had come to see you as a distraction to his goal, someone who might hold him back from what he so desperately dreamed to be. Your heart felt like it was shattering all over again. Even if your brother talked to him would that change the fact that you might get in his way? Probably not. And if he did want to get back together, could you agree knowing that he might just end up resenting you because you got in the way?

Your thoughts started racing through your head. You couldn't so much as dream of stopping them, overthinking everything about what could happen.

"I'm going to head to bed now." Your voice sounded different like it didn't belong to you. As you turned to leave the room you heard your brother behind you.

"Take my room, I'll take the couch."

You only nodded in response even though he couldn't see you in the hallway. Biting your lower lip to distract yourself, trying not to let the tears fall.
