《Gaster x Reader- Not Your Fault》Not Your Fault Pt 9

The next week passed relatively normal.
Well as normal as one could when you knew you would die in less then a month. Or when each day you had to go through multiple tests by the love of your life to keep track of your dimming life source.
Other then that though life was relatively normal. Each morning you woke beside Gaster. His arms cradling you close to his body as he watched you awake. Then Sans and Papyrus would charge into the room and demand breakfast. After breakfast you would take the boys outside to play, Gaster did not approve of this due to your health. However you were more then happy to, it was a good distraction from the mess that was the rest of your life and the fact that you could feel yourself wearing out earlier each day, not massively but still enough to be noticeable. Afterwards you would make lunch for the boys and then follow Gaster into the lab to go through multiple tests. it pained you to see him grow more and more frustrated with every dead end he was led down. His core work had been discarded, no longer as important as prolonging your death. After the long hours in the lab you would return to the house for dinner before reading the boys their nightly story. Finally you would retire with Gaster.
It was simple but at the end of the day you were content, you didn't need excitement or adventure. The simple days with Sans, Papyrus and Gaster was enough for you.
Gaster had once during the week asked if you would prefer to leave Snowdin however you told him you were happy where you were.
It wasn't until the end of the first week when the first major sign of your condition appeared. You were watching the boys playing in the snow when a badly aimed ball of cold ice flew towards you. Luckily you had dodged it. Unluckily it had hit Gaster who was standing behind you. You noticed and burst out into laughter at the shocked surprised that was plastered on your lover's face. His eyes narrowed as he turned to look at the culprit, who was none other then Sans. The child smirked guiltily, "oops."
Gaster bent down and scooped up a handful of snow, unbeknownst to you as you were laughing at the scene. Suddenly a cold wet sensation slapped against your bare neck. You shrieked as the ice snow slid down your back. Turning around you glared at Gaster and his smug smirk.
"Oh, you are so dead now!" You shouted as you scooped up two handfuls of snow and chased the larger skeleton. Sans and Papyrus scooped up their own snow and followed you as you pelted snow at Gaster. He laughed as he dodged each frozen attack.
You felt laughter bubble from your own lips at the carefree sound of the skeleton laughing. It had been too long since you had heard Gaster laugh in such a carefree way.
A sharp stab of pain from your mid section caused you to double over suddenly. You landed on your knees in the powdery snow as you brought a hand up to your mouth. The metallic taste filling you mouth as you coughed. Gaster was by your side in seconds.
He crouched beside you, his arms cradling you as you brought your hand away from you mouth. Blood was splattered against your gloves and was dripping onto the white snow.
Sans and Papyrus were running towards you but were stopped when Gaster raised a hand, "Sans, Papyrus, go inside now."

You didn't look up to check if they had followed their father's orders. Gaster scooped you up into his arms and there was a flash of purple as you were teleported to the lab. Gaster sat you upon the bed as he kneeled before you.
"Does it hurt?" He asked, his eyes serious.
You shook your head, "N-not anymore... it's fading."
Gaster looked only slightly relieved as he rested his head on your shoulder. You brought a hand up to his cheek while the other stroked the top of his head. You remained like this for a few minutes, neither one of you wanting to move.
"We should probably find Sans and Papyrus. They are probably absolutely terrified," You whispered, not wanting to break the silence between you and Gaster.
He moved away tentatively and nodded, "You are right. Let us go find our sons."
"Our?" You asked, interest piqued.
Gaster's face turned a dusty lavender but he did not dismiss it as a mistake.
A smile faintly graced your lips as you looked up at him, "I guess we should go find our sons."
Taking his hand that he offered you, you both made your way to the house.
You found the two boys huddled on the couch looking extremely worried. When you entered the lounge room they both bolted to you. You swooped both up into a hug, "Hey, it's alright... I-I just had a coughing fit but I'm all better now."
Papyrus seemed to believe the lie however you noticed Sans was looking at you strangely.
"Why don't we watch a movie," You suggested, hoping to take the older child's mind off of the mornings occurrences.
A hand touched your back as you released the children, "That seems like a good idea. Why don't you boys choose a movie?"
Papyrus excitedly agreed and dragged Sans over to the movie cabinet. Gaster led you over to the couch. You sat curled up leaning on him as he draped an arm over your shoulder. Papyrus rushed over and crawled into your lap. You smiled at him wrapped an arm around the child as he lay in your lap. Sans walked over and raised his arms towards Gaster in a wordless demand for him to pic him up. Raising an eyebrow Gaster smirked as he used his magic to pick up the child and unceremoniously dump him on his lap. You laughed at the displeased look on Sans's face as the little skeleton huffed.
The movie Papyrus and Sans had selected was a cute little family movie about a monster who had gotten lost and went on a grand adventure before being reunited with its family. It was sweet really, not that you were really watching. You were too busy studying the features of Gaster and the boys, committing each feature to memory until it was burned in your mind for ever. As it got further into the afternoon the boys began to drift off. Papyrus was comfortably curled up in your arms and Sans was happily snoring quietly in Gaster's lap. Gaster himself was looking down at his son, his eyes filled with adoration for the sleeping child.
As the film came to a close Gaster scooped the child tenderly into his arms. You picked up Papyrus and followed the taller skeleton up to their room. You lay the sleeping Papyrus gently into his bed and tucked the sheets up to his chin. He made a happy sound in his sleep but didn't wake. You gently kissed his forehead before turning to Sans and repeating the action. Gaster watched from the door, his facial features soft as he watched with admiration.

As you made your way to the room you now shared he stopped you and bent down, kissing your lips. You kissed back as you brought a hand to face. His own arm snaked around your waste pulling you closer. Deepening the kiss you hummed contentedly. He picked you up as you swung your legs around his waist and carried you to your room. Closing the door behind him before you disappeared amongst the sheets under him.

Gaster stroked your hair as he held you close to his chest. Within his bare chest a purple soul pulsed gently, showering you in a dim light. You touched the bones of his chest, marveling at his soul. It was so small but full of so much life.
"It's beautiful," You breathed.
Gaster smiled down at you, "Your soul is so much more stunning then mine."
You looked up at him in surprise, "You've seen my soul?"
"Yes. When I first met you," Gaster replied.
"What colour is it?"
"Its strange... not just one colour but two. Purple and Green."
You giggled, "It sounds like Christmas."
"You mean gryphmas?" Gaster asked puzzled.
"Sort of."
"Oh... then yes," He answered. "Your soul is filled with Kindness and Persevation. Such a strong fusion but not surprising."
You lay a hand on your own bare chest in awe.
Smiling you met Gaster's gaze with your own, "Gaster."
"Hmm."
"I'm truly happy with here with you. You and the boys. You know that right," You told him.
He smiled tenderly, "I would believe anything you told me... unless it was about genies and wishes."
You laughed, "I can't believe you still remember that."
Gaster kissed your forehead, "I remember a lot of things, my dear."

As the second week passed by you slowly found yourself becoming weaker. It was becoming harder to do mundane task and to much activity wore you out quicker. Coughing fits weren't a regular occurrence... sometimes at night you would wake in pain. You would deal with those silently though, not wanting to worry Gaster. He devoted every moment not with you to finding a cure to your failing health. Whenever he was gone for longer then you like you would make the trip down to his lab to demand he spend more time with you and the boys.
Today however was different. Gaster had disappeared before you awoke and the boys seemed to have been sworn to secrecy on his whereabouts. You were not a happy chappy about that. Soon half the day had been spent and Gaster still had not appeared. He wasn't in his lab, which ultimately surprised you, and your were finding it hard to stay awake. You decided to take a nap, telling the boys not to get up to any mischief while you were sleeping.
When you awoke there was good clothes lying on a chair and a note.
'Dear _________,
I request your company tonight for dinner. Please wear this garment I have laid out for you.
Love,
W.D. Gaster'
You read the note before changing into the clothing put aside for you. As you surveyed yourself in the mirror you realized you were smaller then you had been only a weak ago, however the clothes fit perfectly and you looked stunning. You smiled at your reflection shyly. It had been a while since you had dressed in such nice clothes.
What is he up to?
Climbing down the stair the smell of food wafted through the house to meet you. As you approached the kitchen a small Papyrus rushed out to meet you.
He was dressed in a tiny tux and was smiling, "I will be your waiter tonight."
You giggled at the adorableness as he took your hand and led you not into the kitchen but outside. There was a path lit by fairy lights leading around the back of the house. Following Papyrus you found yourself led to a small white gazebo that was decorated in golden fairy lights. What truly caught your attention though was the tall skeleton wearing a suit of his own. When he noticed your approach his face turned a light shade of lavender. He looked you up and down, obviously happy with your appearance.
"You look stunning," He breathed as he held a hand out to you.
Smiling you accepted his hand and stepped into the Gazebo. There was a table set with cutlery and candles.
"So this is why you disappeared all day."
Gaster rubbed the back of his neck, "I apologise... I wanted it to be a surprise."
"You don't have to apologise, It's quite romantic," You smiled up at the blushing man.
Gaster smiled as he met your eyes, "I'm glad you think so."
He led you to a seat, pulling it out for you, before taking his own seat.
As if on que Sans and Papyrus appeared in matching suits, both carrying trays of food.
They placed them on the table and bowed, "Your dinner."
You giggled at the two cute children as Sans winked in Gaster's direction. The two boys left giggling between themselves.
Gaster and you ate the delicious smelling food, reflecting on moments and talking about anything that caught your fancy at the time.
After you finished the meal Gaster stood and approached you holding out a hand. Taking it you stood as he pulled you close and placed a hand on your waist. You put a hand on his shoulder and smiled, "I didn't know you knew how to dance... even without music."
Gaster smiled, "I have plenty to show you about myself, my dear."
You hummed in amusement as you both swayed to the nonexistent music. Your head rested upon Gaster's chest as you listened to his soul beat against his chest.
Gaster stopped the dance and pulled away much to your surprise. What came next though was even more unexpected. Gaster kneeled before you as he listed up a silver band.
"I had this made a while ago. I apologise for the timing, however," Gaster took a deep breath. "_________ would you marry me."
You felt your heart skip a beat as tears sprang into your eyes. You wiped at your face as you nodded, "Yes, oh my god yes! Of course I will."
Gaster smiled as slipped the silver band onto your finger. You pulled him into a kiss, which he happily reciprocated. Suddenly a yell caught your attention as you and Gaster both looked towards the sound. Both as puzzled as the other. You noticed two little skeletons peaking from around the corner of the house.
"Finally! __________ can be our Mommy!" Papyrus declared.
Sans smirked, "About time."
You laughed joy filling your heart, "That's right Papyrus, I'll be your Mommy."
Gaster wrapped an arm around your waist as you leaned into him.
We can be a family
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You decided to hold the wedding as soon as possible. Choosing the nicest outfit Gaster had available for you from the ones he had purchased you and Gaster decided to have the wedding outside the house. An elderly turtle monster agreed to wed the two of you. It was a small affair, however you weren't unhappy with the arrangements. Your heart and soul felt as though it would soar high above the underground when you spoke the words 'I Do." And when Gaster had echoed those exact words.
The wedding ended swiftly and you and your new family, they had always been family but now they truly were, dined on cake made by the boys and yourself. It was a wonderful event, however you wore tired early and had to call it a night rather quickly.
Gaster was more then willing to retire with you after the boys were sent put to sleep.
As the week ended you found yourself sleeping or simply resting more often. The coughing though became a regular occurrence to the point where you could no longer hide it from Gaster. With it came the blood.

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
