It had been one month since Gaster and you had started dating. Yet almost every moment felt like the first still when you were with him. Papyrus and Sans were more then delighted with your incorporation into their lives and into Gaster's life.

As it was you were making Papyrus and Sans sandwiches for lunch, Gaster was by your side assisting you as the two little skeletons were seated at the table drawing. You cut the sandwiches in half before placing them in front of both skeletons.

"What are you drawing, Papyrus?" You asked as you set the peanut butter and jam sandwich in front of the smallest skeleton. He took a bite of the sandwich before showing the crayon drawn family.

"It's our family," Papyrus told you.

Sans grinned pointed to the small blue and red crayon blobs, "i helped. that's me and paps."

Smiling you commended their efforts, "You guys are awesome drawers! But who are they?"

You pointed to the two skinny figures beside the drawing Papyrus and Sans. Papyrus blushed, "That's you and Daddy, Mommy."

Heat rushed to your cheeks as the child called you mommy once again.

"T-that's very nice of you, Papyrus..."You told the child.

Sans turned and looked at Gaster, "So when are you going to ask her?"

Shooting a puzzled expression in Gaster's direction you noticed the man was blushing.

"S-Sans! W-what-" Gaster stuttered.

Aww, he's flustered~

Sans raised an eye socket, "I saw the-"

Gaster was behind his son in a moment, a ungloved hand covering the child's mouth.

"We will return promptly," He stated before disappearing in a flash of purple.

Papyrus and you exchanged confused looks before a flash of purple signaled the two other skeletons had returned.

Sans looked sheepish but didn't say anything.

Gaster himself had regain his composed form, "Perhaps we should-"

A loud knock on the door interrupted the rest of his sentence.

Gaster huffed, "I shall answer that."

You followed Gaster, wondering who would be visiting. Ever since you had arrived there had been a lack of visitors to the skeleton family, though you assumed that was not an unusual occurrence.

"Doctor Gaster! Th-there's something terrorizing the town! I... I think it may be a human!"

Gaster's eyes widened, "I'll be right there."

Turning around Gaster strode over to the two little skeletons who were watching wide eyed, "Boys, I want you to both go down to my lab and stay in the spare room down there. Do not come out until I return. Do you understand me."

They both nodded. Sans took his younger brother's hand and hurriedly led Papyrus towards the elevator.

Gaster grabbed his coat from the hanger and made for the door, only to be stopped by your hand.

"Gaster, can I come. I might be able to talk to them... make them stop," You asked.

Worry and reluctance filled Gaster's eyes, "_______... I don't know if..."

"Please."

Gaster looked conflicted but nodded in agreement, "Yes, however if I tell you to run you must listen to me."

You nodded and grabbed your own coat before taking his hand.

Following the trail that led towards the busiest area of Snowdin, you and Gaster ran hand in hand. As you came closer both of you slowed, a tall broad figure coming into view. They was a male, at least you assumed they were.

The human stood in the center of town, a gun gripped loosely in his hand as his face was turned towards the sky. His shoulder's were shaking.

Is he crying?

As you moved closer the man's face turned revealing the terrifying smile that was sprawled across his face. You realized he wasn't crying... he was laughing.

Fear

That's what you felt as you gripped Gaster's hand harder. He squeezed back in reassurance however his eyes did not leave the laughing human before you.

"Human, release the weapon and no harm will befall you," Gaster demanded, his deep voice carrying across the distance between you and the human.

The Human though turned and stared at him, a smile still spread across his face, "Oh really, no harm at all? What happens if I don't? What will you do then."

Gaster's pupil erupted violet with magic, prompting you to lay a hand on his arm, "Gaster, let me try talk to him first."

Gaster begrudgingly gave a quick nod of his head, however his eye remained purple with magic. Shaking, you took a step forward, "I am also a human. Please drop your weapon and we can talk."

The man regarded you with suspicion, "How do I know you will keep your word?"

"I only ask that you trust me. You fell from Mt Ebbott right?"

The man nodded slowly, "Yes."

"I also fell from Mt Ebbott, however the monsters here did not harm me and they will not harm you either," You told him calmly.

It's like talking to a frightened animal.

"I had nowhere to go, no one to go to but these monsters who have every right to hate me for simply being a human chose to help me," You told him.

The man's smile drooped however it did not disappear.

I... I think it's working.

After a moment the man closed his eyes, smile spreading across his face once again, "hehe, well... I'm sorry but I don't feel like getting chummy with these monstrosities."

Raising the gun barrel to face you he spoke before pulling the trigger. A blast of smoke and a echoing bang rung through your head as you waited for the impact of the bullet to rip into your skin.

However Gaster appeared before your eyes, his eye flashing purple as the bullet deflected off a purple shield of magic.

"G-Gaster."

The skeletal man stood with his back to you, however you would see the magic flaring from his hands and eye as his face twisted into dark anger.

"Don't you dare lay a hand on her," He hissed.

The human man chuckled, "Ooh, seems I almost killed your lass." Then the man addressed you, "hehe, so you think you can tell me that you are human like me and yet still be in cahoots with a monster like him. I don't think so."

The man aimed once again, however this time at Gaster, before pulling the trigger.

Once again Gaster deflected the attack.

"______, Run."

Gaster

Gaster felt the strength of his magic begin to ebb away.

Damn, I need to end this quickly or the Human will overpower me shortly.

His eyes glanced quickly towards you as he grinded his teeth together.

First things first. I've got to get _____ out of here before anything happens.

"_______, Run."

He then turned his attention to the human as another bullet fired from the gun. Deflecting it Gaster felt his magic slip away once again. Sweat ran down his skull as his body shook from exhaustion.

I only have one chance at this, if I don't kill him now I'll be powerless to stop him.

Gaster drew upon his strength as the human man stepped closer.

"Hehe, I can see your wearing out already monster. Guess when I'm done with you, you won't mind me hunting down you're little lady," The man smirked.

Gaster growled as anger fuelled his attack. In a blind rage he released the energy around him, uncaring to those in its path as the violet shockwave spread outwards.

The main force was directed towards the human male. As the shock wave passed through him the gun fell to the snow and an arm was raised to his chest. The human fell to his knees and arms as he coughed or vomited blood, not that Gaster cared. Before toppling to his side and becoming still.

Gaster fell to his own knees in exhaustion clutching his own head.

Thank god it's over...

Gaster allowed his body to relax as he looked up at the deceased human.

Why... why is it that every time I begin to believe that there may be a glimmer of goodness in Humans after all this time someone like this arrives.

Gaster froze.

__________!

Gaster stood and turned to face the direction you had been when he had told you to run.

N-No!

Gaster stumbled forwards as he saw your figure lying in the snow.

N-no... I-I told her to run! W-why? Why is she still there?

Gaster sprinted to your side, thoughts whizzing through his mind.

Dear Asgore, please tell me she wasn't affected! Tell me she didn't get hit b-by the wave!

Kneeling down beside you he noticed your still frame was not moving.

~Crack~

Something within Gaster broke as he witnessed your unresponsive body in front of him. He gently raised your head onto his legs as he brought his forehead to your own.

P-please... please don't be...

Gaster swallowed back the scream that wanted to erupt from his very core.

"_-______... please...," He begged quietly, his words barely audible.

A terrifying quiet settled as Gaster remained unmoving. Suddenly a rasping breath was taken and your chest began to rise ever so slightly. Gaster reacted instantly, his hands laid above your heart as he tried to find a beat.

Thank Asgore!

Gaster scooped your body into his arms as he stood. The last of his magic welled up within him as he teleported to the first place he could think of.

Snowy streets morphed into white walls as Gaster collapsed in his lab. Wrestling to remain conscious he lifted your body onto the bed of the operating room.

Was ______ always this small... Concentrate Gaster!

Gaster fumbled for the glowing liquid and tubes, inserting the tubes into the correct veins.

I don't have enough magic to heal.

A clatter from the doorway caught Gaster's attention. Turning to face the source of the sound Gaster was surprised to find Sans standing there.

Sans eyes were trained on your body, his eyes revealed the horror he felt, "w-what happened? i-is ______ alright?"

"S-sans..." Gaster felt exhaustion finally take over him as he fell to his knees.

The skeletal child rushed to his father's side, "D-daddy?"

Gaster winced as his vision became blurred, "I-I'm fine... G-go look after P-papyrus..."

Unable to fight any longer Gaster slipped into the engulfing darkness.

I- I can't leave him to face that man alone.

You had turned to do what Gaster had told you however when you turned back you noticed his exhaustion.

D-damn, I can't leave him out there.

Turning back you tried rushed back to Gaster. However as you were closing the gap between you and him a violet wave of energy knocked into you. Feeling as though your insides were being ripped apart violently you silently screamed, no sound erupted from your mouth though as you collapsed.

Pain.

So much pain.

You eyes snapped open as you coughed. Your mouth tasted metallic as you tried to move.

I-I can't move. I-I can't move.

Your panicked, repeating the same words over and over again. A hand moved to hold your hand, "Breath _______. Don't panic."

Taking the advice of the calming voice you attempted to relax, breathing in and out. Slowly you began to feel your body move ever so slowly. Finally able to move you inched your head to the side and met the white pupils of Sans.

"S-ss," You attempted to speak but the pain in your throat caused you to cough instead. The taste of metal became stronger as red specks appeared on the white of the mattress below you.

Sans's eyes widened, his head turned to look at the figure lying on the ground.

You followed his movement.

Gaster

He was unmoving however you could see the light movement of his chest as he breathed.

He's sleeping... or passed out.

Unable to talk you instead attempted to communicate to Sans through facial expressions.

What happened?

Sans seemed to understand from your pleading and confused face.

"I-I don't know... I heard a sound and left Papyrus to investigate. I found you lying here and Dad was panicking. H-he passed out," Sans told you, worry etched into every corner of his features.

You tried to nod in understanding but a strike of pain spasmed through your body. Coughing again as even more red specks stained the white material beneath you.

Sans was staring in horror, his small frame shaking.

D-damn it... H-he shouldn't have to witness this.

You gripped the bedding as the pain became bearable, however it did not fade completely. Darkness was slowly engulfing the edges of your vision as panic filled you again.

That panic however faded as Sans tentatively laid a soft hand against your own, "D-Don't worry, I-I'm sure Daddy will be able to help you... h-he just needs to wake up."

You swallowed, holding back tears as the pain pulled you under and your vision went black.

Laughter

Gaster smiled as you took his hand gently into his own. Your eyes sparkled as Gaster blushed, he had once again gotten over excited while talking about the core and the endless possibilities it would bring to the underground.

"Sorry, I must be boring you," He apologized, entwining his hand with yours. The smile that graced your lips making his soul beat in joy.

"Don't apologise, I enjoy listening to you. Especially when you get excited like that," You told him as you brought his hand up to your lips.

Gaster's skull tingled with magic.

How can someone be so perfect.

Leaning forward to remove the gap between you and himself, Gaster leaned his forehead against your own.

"You don't know how much you truly mean to me," He spoke softly.

Your lips curled slightly at the edges as your eyes closed before replying, "And you to I."

Gaster's opened his eyes, his soul aching as the sweet dream- or was it a memory- faded from existence.

The first thing he noticed was the blanket that was draped over him and the pillow beneath his skull. The second thing was surgical bed to his left.

____________.

He rose, removing the blanket, and approached the bed. There lying almost perfectly still was the figure of a human. Other then the soft rise of your chest you almost appeared dead.

Gaster reached out and gently took your hand into his own, "_________."

You moved slightly but your eyes remained closed. Running a hand through your hair, Gaster stared forlornly at your features, eyes running down your soft skin and tracing the lines of your face. He then shifted his gaze to your mid section.

The immense power I released would have displaced _______'s entire atomic make up. I need to make sure there is no internal damage... I-if the levels of energy I released were too much then _-_______ may not be unscathed.

Gaster swallowed, not wanting to think of the implications that may bring about... especially if he could not reverse the effects of his magic. The surge of power he had directed towards the male human had been on a completely different magnitude, causing instantaneous death. However in his rage and anger Gaster had not been able to fully control the output of his magic, leading to a radiation of magic of an varying degree of power. Not knowing if he could fully control the damage he had demanded you run, however he had not taken into consideration that you might not run when told to.

Gaster's hands shook slightly as he hovered the hand that had previously been running through your hair over your chest. Calling upon the purple well of magic that had reformed within himself he attempted to find any anomalies within your genetic makeup.

Nothing seems completely out of place... however...

Movement ceased Gaster's magic as you groaned in pain, eyes flickering open. Gaster brought his hand to your face.

"__- ______, C-can you hear me?" Gaster asked.

You're eyes moved to meet his and your mouth opened to speak, "G-Gaster."

Gaster winced at how weak and unsteady your voice truly sounded. Your free hand rose to touch your throat and Gaster took the signal as meaning you needed water.

"I-I'll be right back," He told you. Reluctantly he released your hand and strode over to the sink situated in the corner of the room. Grabbing a glass with shaking hands he filled it with water before promptly making his way back to your side.

Assisting you so that you could sit he then proceeded to pass you the water. You winced as you shifted to sit up but took the water and slowly sipped it. Gaster felt his soul thump against his chest as he watched how weak and vulnerable you appeared to be.

Finally you handed the glass back to the skeletal man. He placed it on a work bench located beside the operating bed. He spun around in shock as you began to cough again as your body folded over itself and your hands grasped at your mid section. Gaster stared in horror as red stained your hands and the sheets beneath you.

Blood... I-it can't be.... ________'s internally bleeding! B-but that's impossible the mixture I gave her should have healed any internal damage.

Gaster's eyes turned to the bag of glowing liquid that hung beside your bed was half drained, showing it was doing its job. His attention quickly returned to you however as he laid a hand on your back and rubbed gently. As your coughing fit ended you leaned into his chest, tears running down your cheeks from the pain. Engulfing you in his hug, Gaster grinded his teeth together.

U-unless the force of my magic is still acting within _______, then it may be counteracting the healing process. But if that is true then I won't be able to regain control over it as I will be seen as a foreign threat.

Gaster tightened his grip around your body, his mind running through variable solutions and problems. His eyes tightened shut as you sobbed quietly into his chest.

I-I will have to r-run tests... there must be a way for me to counter the magic flowing within _________ so that the healing process can take place. Until then I must make sure she is not in pain.

Gaster summoned his magic as a soft purple glow surrounded himself and you. Your grip on his shirt loosened slightly as your body relaxed.

"G-Gaster?" You spoke softly.

Gaster opened his eyes and looked down into your pained ones, "It's alright, I'm here."

His chest felt as though it would break as he noticed your quivering chin and the tears that spilt from your eyes.

This is my fault.
