Eclipse I

"Sun, I promise this will be your last mission."

"It better be. I'm tired of being spy. I wanna quit right now. I have new things to worry about."

"I'll pay double this time."

"Alright," Sun reluctantly replied. "What is it?"

"A gateway."

"A gateway?"

The man slid a polaroid photograph across the table. Sun gently stopped it and laid his eyes on it.

"What does a gateway have to do with a girl?"

"She has access to a gateway that claims to give eternal life and she doesn't seem to know that."

"You're crazy."

"Says the one who's living off of me."

"What do you expect from a fourteen year old orphan?"

"I thought four years was enough to know me well, Sun."

Sun narrowed his eyebrows, "Four years is an overstatement. I've been working for you for three years and four—."

"This girl is Moon Lumanlan. A top student in archery, medicine, and anatomy."

"Lumanlan? She's part of the monarchy?"

"The only child of the Grand Duchess Artemis."

"The Grand Duchess's daughter, eh?"

"Grand Duchess Artemis's daughter is reportedly very influential in the court. She has earned herself the title of Marchioness."

"Wow."

"Articles say the marchioness is smart, fierce, serious, strong, vigilant, and stubborn girl."

Sun rolled his eyes. "If she wasn't all those things, she wouldn't be a Marchioness and close to becoming a Duchess."

The man ignored him. "She goes to Lunar Academy. I've purchased the uniform—."

"Great, I'm attending that school?"

"It's the only way to get closer to her. She has isolated herself there."

"How old is she?"

"Your age."

He picked up the photograph, "So this was taken years before?"

"Yes, that was when she was ten. Moon has not allowed any paparazzis to take photos of her since."

"I see.." replied Sun, studying the young girl in the photo. She didn't look too happy. Sun couldn't make out her whole face since the now marchioness was using her hand to block part of her face.

In the photo, Moon had shoulder-length black hair, disturbed dark grey eyes with a hint of blue, and fair skin. He wondered what she looked like now.

"Hey Sun!"

"Hau! Hey!"

"Dude, what're you doing here roughly two months before the last quarter of the academy ends?"

Sun chuckled. "You don't wanna know."

"Another mission?"

"Congratulations, you've guessed it right."

"Yay!" Hau shouted. "What's my prize?"

"Knowing what I'm doing."

"Ooo! Tell me! Tell me!"

"I'm confronting a person."

"And who's this person?"

"A person."

Hay crossed his arms, slowing down his walking pace. "Okay, who?"

"Fine, a girl."

"Ooo! Whooo~?"

"A girl."

"I asked who, Sun."

The boy playfully slapped his friend's shoulder. "You don't wanna know."

"Blah, blah, blah. WHO IS IT?!"

"Shush!"

"I won't 'shush!' until you tell me!" said Hau, speeding up his pace to match Sun's.

"I'll tell when we get masaladas after school."

Hau sighed, "Fine."

"So what do you do here?"

"What a normal student does."

"I mean subjects."

"Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Literature, Grammar/Vocabulary, aaaand that's it! The classes are pretty hard here."

Sun went deep into thought. Where's archery, medicine, and anatomy?

"Sun?"

"Yeah?"

"Never mind, new student," the green haired boy said while stretching. "It's gonna be a long day."

"That long?" Sun asked, raising an eyebrow. "That hard?"

"Yep! I dunno how I got into here in first place."

"Hau, you earned it. I remembered how panicked you were and how long you were studying for that test."

"Yeah.."

⇺⇻

After school and a bunch of squealing girls, Sun headed to the front office. He couldn't find a girl with shoulder-length hair, bluish-grey eyes, and fair skin.

"Excuse me, secretary. May I look at the directory? I have specific someone I'm looking for."

"And who's that?"

"Lumanlan."

"We don't have a Lumanlan here. Though, that would be pretty cool."

"Seriously."

The woman rolled her eyes. "Yes, seriously. We don't have a Lumanlan."

"This is a mistake." muttered Sun.

"I think you are the mistake, sir-."

"Miss Kanaka!" shouted a feminine voice.

The woman smiled and turned towards the voice. "Yes, Selene?"

Sun followed her gaze and saw a twin braided girl. "Miss Kanaka, I have something for you."

"And what is it?"

Selene took out a yellow packet and replied, "Oh, it's the donations for the fundraiser."

"Ah, thank you so much!"

"Welcome! I'm glad to help!" she beamed, hading the packet to the secretary. "As president of the student body, I'm just doing what I can."

The girl turned her attention to Sun. "Hi! I haven't seen you anywhere before. You must be the new student! Name's Selene Yoruichi."

She took out her hand and formed a half smile on her face. "What's yours?"

Sun grasped onto it and shook it lightly. "Sun Taiyono."

Selene slowly moved away from the secretary's view, pulling Sun with her. When they were finally out of sight, she pulled him hard. Her mouth was now next to his right ear. "I heard you needing to find someone named Lumanlan. I can help you with that." she whispered.

"Really?"

"Ugh, not now, of course. Tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?"

"I'm busy on Monday afternoons."

"What're you doing on Monday afternoons?"

Selene turned and began accelerating towards the back door. "Stuff."

"What stuff?" he asked, beginning to run too.

"None of your business."

"Sooo, you have something to do as president of the student body?" Sun guessed, mocking Selene's tone for the last six words.

"Won't you shut up?"

"I'll shut up if you tell me one thing."

The girl stopped. "What I'm doing?"

"No."

"Then what is it?"

"Is Selene Yoruichi an alias?"

Her eyes widened. Sun noticed the similarities. Bluish-grey eyes, fair skin, strong, same hair color, and on top of it all.

But she showed no sign of panicking. "No, that is a birth name of a girl in front of you."

The only difference was the length of her hair. She must've grown it.

But before Sun could say anything else, she was gone.

⇺⇻

"Congratulations, Marchioness Moon. You've completed the final test." her instructor announced.

Blue hugged Moon with loads of excitement. "Yay! Moon! You did it!"

"Thanks for cheering me on, Blue."

The brunette smiled. "No prob! By the way, you haven't told me about your grandfather's condition."

"He's alright."

"You're just saying that."

"What do you want me to say? The doctors are saying he's declining."

"Oh."

"Ugh," Moon dug her hands into her hair and knelt down. "I feel so useless."

Blue shook her head and laid her hands on Moon's shoulders. "You aren't. I don't know if he's going to survive, but what I do know is that you are trying."

"It's not enough.. Nothing's enough."

"Moon, don't even. You're the strongest and smartest person I've ever seen and met."

She smiled and turned to Blue. "And you're the best swordswoman I've ever seen and met."

Blue's sword suddenly swung, barely missing Moon's left ear. In retaliation, she lifted her right leg and swung it behind her. Blue dodged the low kick with a backflip. "I'm not a Level A for nothing!"

"Neither am I!" shouted Moon.

The raven-haired girl yielded her sword and charged at Blue. She only smirked. Moon sensed danger, but she was already so close that she couldn't stop. Blue grabbed Moon's free left arm and swung it into the air. It sent the archer into the sky. She was high up in the air, but she knew the higher up, the more time.

Moon quickly positioned her shield in front of her as she started falling back down. "Better watch out, Blue!"

The blue-eyed brunette could only widen her eyes when she saw a flaming ball hurdling towards Moon and her. "Moon!"

Blue jumped high and pushed her best friend out of the way. "Blue! No!"

The ball had hit the swordswoman. Her shield and left arm were both burned badly. Her face was covered in dirt, her shining blue orbs turned dull, and her hair became tangled.

"Blue!" Moon rushed over. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah. I'm okay."

Moon looked at the now extinguished rock, "Hm.. I wonder where that came from."

Blue was shaking her head. "I bet this was done on purpose. It was a direct hit."

"Is someone trying to assassinate us?"

"Don't jump into conclusions already. You know how your instructor can be very testy."

"I know, but.. she isn't here."

"She left early?"

"Yes, right after."

"Oh-!"

"Shh, Blue. I think I hear something foreign."

Armed men were coming out of nowhere and surrounding the two teenagers. "They have guns!" Moon heard Blue whisper.

A man, Sun's master, came out of the shadows. "Archery? Swords? I expect more from the monarchy."

"I do not know what you speak of," said Moon, with no sign of emotion. "You are welcome to repeat your statement."

"Petty sentences."

"And so is your presence, Mister Polarri." a deep feminine voice said. Grand Duchess Artemis came out of hiding behind a pole. "Greetings."

"Grand Duchess Artemis." Moon bowed and kicked Blue, forcing her to bow too.

"Correct me if you must. This man is threatening you."

"No need for correction, Artemis," said Blue. "He has surrounded us."

"Blue of the Kanto Monarchy. Marchioness?"

"Yes, I'm becoming Duchess tomorrow."

"Good for you. Now let's fight these guys."

"Alright."

Then, as he hid behind a barrel, Sun saw Moon's real capabilities. She slid under a soldier and shot three arrows all at once. Each of them piercing into three different soldiers. She went onto the guy she went under by backflipping. As Moon handled that guy, Blue was dealing with four soldiers. She began kicking the guns out of their hands. Shots flew at her, almost always barely missing her.

When a bullet finally injured Blue, the girl began screaming in pain. And that was when the grand duchess started her surprise attack. Using only her feet and her sword, Artemis knocked out the first two soldiers. The grand duchess released two arrows at once, killing the last two.

Sun realized there was one armed man left. The women seemed to not notice. The soldier aimed the gun at Moon.

He's gonna kill her.

He's gonna kill her.

He's gonna kill her.

He's gonna kill her.

Don't kill her.

Don't kill her.

Don't kill her.

Don't kill her.

The second a bullet was released was when Sun leaped out of hiding and went towards Moon. "Taiyono?"

When he felt it, he blacked out.

"Taiyono!"

⇺⇻

"Wake up, sleeping beauty! I carried you all the way over here myself like two hours ago!"

"Selene?" Sun asked, without opening his eyes.

Moon didn't say anything at first. She felt the awkwardness overflowing between them. She hated it.

"I'm just gonna go outside."

"Wait.."

"What?"

"Where?"

"One of the many gardens around here."

"Okay.."

"Man, you sound feeble. Yet, you're fine."

"I'm not fine."

"Then you must be having a side effect."

"Side effect? Of what?"

"Medicine. What else?"

"Oh."

"Anyways, I have lots of questions for you," Moon said. "Meet me outside when you're ready." She turned to leave.

"Sounds good to me."

Moon stopped. "Excuse me?"

"Nothing."

"Whatever."
