《Smoke (Bakugou Katsuki x Reader)》Chapter 38

My face was red in an uncomfortable combination of embarrassment and anger.
What the hell is wrong with my brother? Does he have zero comprehension on what the concept of privacy is?
I looked over at Katsuki. He stood in the corner of the bathroom, a towel around his waist.
"Just classmates huh? I wasn't aware that classmates took baths together...especially ones of the opposite sex. Seems a bit odd." He sent me an innocent but fake worried look. "Lil' sis-" He began. I rolled my eyes, knowing exactly what was coming. "-should I be concerned on what they're teaching you over there in that fancy school? What was its name...hmmm~" He tapped on his chin, staring at the roof "U.A.?" How did he even know I was in U.A? I don't ever recall telling him. His cheeky tone and cocky expression made it even harder not to wanna punch him in the face. I used a cloud of smoke to grab my clothes off of the floor before unwrapping myself quickly from the shower curtain. I slipped everything on in a matter of seconds before pulling the curtain open again and facing my brother once again. I walked toward him quickly, making sure to assert myself. I have spent too many years crumbling before him, always submitting to what he wanted, always doing what he said. As I stepped closer to him, he stepped farther from me; we moved the confrontation from the crowded bathroom to the actual bedroom.
"You know what,'big bro'?" I put emphasis on the big bro part, making sure he knew how I felt about him right now. "I am dating him, and I love him." I motioned at Katsuki. The blonde was already dressed in his regular clothes. "Have you ever had that? Maybe with-" He cut me off, his face turning from a cocky smile to a granice as he grabbed my face with his iron grip.

"Don't touch her." Katsuiki spoke up, swatting his hand away from my face.
"Stay outa' this, you barbaric snarky piece of shit." My brother retorted
"And you-" He flicked his gaze back at me. "Watch your mouth. You know it was an accident." He tried hiding the hurt behind his words. It could have fooled anyone, anyone but me. I was tired of his antics. He always tried to make me feel guilty for my desiciones, bringing up the past to hurt me; have a taste of your own medicine, asshole.
"I'm done with you, Zurui. I don't wanna deal with your shit anymore. Get out." I used smoke to open the door but he just used oxygen to close the door again. I struggled to keep it open but he was much stronger than I was.
"No, you're gonna listen to me, (Y/n). We're gonna go home. You're gonna quit U.A. because it was "Too much" for you. You're gonna enroll in your old school, study whatever the fuck you want, go to college, graduate, and live your life and you are not taking this personification of anger with you." He demanded. The room went completely silent as I stared at the floor. I almost cackled. I couldn't help the scoff that slipped out of my lips when I looked up at him though.
"What makes you think I'm gonna do that?"
"This."
He pulled a piece of folded paper out of his pocket and handed it to me. As I unfolded, I read over it.
"What the hell is this?"
"Mom's medical bills." He simply said. It wasn't cocky or condemning. It was just serious. My eyes widened.
"She is very sick, (Y/n). The doctors say she has at best only 2 months left."

His words bounced around my head on repeat as my ears rung.
"I- this- it can't be true." I tumbled down on the carpeted floor as a cascade of tears threatened to spill. Zurui sat next to me. He placed a large hand on my shoulder.
"This is why we have to go home. We both have to work to help mom. You don't have time for these-" He paused, glancing at the blonde who stood in the far corner of the room, staring silently with his arms crossed. "-These distractions."
"I-" The words wouldn't come out. I was chocked up.
"I'll give you time to think about it." I knew he was only playing the nice card to get me to go home but I couldn't help but consider leaving with him right at this moment.
It wasn't right though. I couldn't just abandon Katsuki like that. I'm sure he'd understand but still, it wasn't something I'd do.
Before I knew it, Zurui was gone and I had tears streaming down my face.
I sat down on the bed, my face flush against my hands.
I felt the bed dip as Katsuki sat down next to me. He wrapped his arm around my waist, pushing my body against his chest. Tears fell silently onto his shirt as his hand moved to my head, rubbing it in comfort.
He wasn't the best at comforting and I doubt he ever would be but this was good.
My hand clutched the fabric of his shirt as flashes of memories from my childhood; memories with my mom came back.
"What do I do?" I blurted, sniffling as my nose began to run.
"We'll go home obviously. I'll set it up so we leave at the end of the week."
I looked up at him, glassy eyed.
"Thank you."
He mumbled an uncomfortable "Yeah sure" as he blushed.

Both of them having common interest, Bobby agreed to sign over his services in exchange for phenomenal (draconic) magic. A pretty awesome deal, right? The contract put him at the top percentage of human magicians, on top of having the backing of a dragon patron, and a fantastic set of benefits befitting an esteemed contractor, so it'd be smooth sailing from then on, right? Not so. That kind of power isn't granted without strings attached, and Bobby's practically bound up in them. Following the esoteric laws set forth by magicians , juggling them with the mortal interests he still has to abide by, and finding himself at the beck and call of a fickle and opaque patron makes his life as a magician a rollercoaster of ups and downs.
