(Y/n) POV

I made my way down the side walk, long strides allowing me to get away as fast as possible. I had not the slightest clue where the fuck I was going and frankly, I didm't care. I took this opportunity to look around the populated city that was Los Angeles, California. I had been walking for approximately 6 and a half minutes but it felt as though I had been walking for 10 maybe 15. The sun had begun to set and the sky had been painted -due to the crossways between the sun and the moon- multiple shades of warm colors. Yellows, pinks and reds swirled around in the infinite above in a dance with the purples and blues- mixing to create a beautiful array of colors, pleasing the eyes of anyone whom was lucky enough to witness it. I got the sudden urge to sit down and paint the magnificent and almost hypnotic scenery. Of course with no paint or canvas, there was not much I could do so I kept on walking, but not before taking a picture to save the moment.

As I kept carrying out my oh so spontaneous adventure, flashes of the earlier moments with Katsuki came rushing back. I would shake my head ever so slightly to forget them or at least ease the pain that was imperative to come with the forsaken memories.

"Ugh, this is so stupid...!"

I kicked a pebble in frustration then watched it fall into some bushes beside a palm tree.

I smiled sheepishly at the passer by who looked at me with a puzzled expression

As I walked further I felt -and heard- my stomach rumble, demanding it be fed.

To my convenience, I spotted a pretty nice-looking diner just across the street fittingly labeled "Syd's Diner".

"Seems decent enough." I mumbled to myself, crossing the mostly empty street.

A little bell rang as I opened the transparent glass doors.

"Good evening!" A random employee half-yelled from across the room.

"Hi." I said quietly, waving in his direction. I took a look around the place. The diner was very aesthetically pleasing. It had that signature 80's and 90's vibe to it with black and white checkered floors, bright bubblegum pink walls and a long 'L' shaped metal counter on the right hand side of the room which had matching metal stools with turquoise cushion toppers. The other booths and tables around the room also matched the aesthetic color schemes of the previous. There was a nice tune playing from speakers in the back. It was a bit jazzy which I liked. I smiled at myself, enjoying the calm atmosphere. I pulled out my phone and saved yet another memory.

I sat down in an empty booth on the left hand side of the room and waited patiently for a few minutes, using my phone as a distraction.

"Hello!"

I looked up to see a girl in her late teens with long, flowing white hair and pale skin staring down at me through her violet - grey eyes.

"Oh, hi!"

"My name is Casper and I'll be your waitress for today, here's your menu. " She handed me a piece of laminated ivory paper with all the food and drink options written on it.

"Would you like to start with anything to drink?" She pulled out a notepad and pen from her little apron thing.

"Uh yeah, do you have (f/d?"

I looked at her with slight question.

"Indeed we do!"

"Then I'll have that please."

I offered her a sweet smile which she cheerfully returned after scribbling my drink of choice down onto the white paper.

"Alrighty then. I'll be back in a few minutes with your drink and to take your order." And just like that she turned on her heel and walked into what I assumed was the kitchen through the tall metal doors.

I looked at the menu for a few minutes before deciding what to eat.

I sighed and went back to my phone, scrolling through social media and texts.

Non from him.

I furrowed my brows, mentally scolding myself for thinking of that right now. I put my phone back into my black backpack. From it I pulled out a random mechanical pencil which had been in there for the past few months. I snatched a napkin out of one of the container and began doodling. It wasn't the easiest to draw on due to the softness of the paper but nevertheless; it worked.

I was finishing up a cute little drawing of a cat when my waitress, Casper, came back with my (f/d) and two notepads.

She set the drink down and grabbed one of the flip books from her apron. She outstretched her hand to me and smiled.

I looked at her with question but took it anyway, inspecting it as it sat between my fingers.

"What's this for?"

"I saw you drawing earlier so I thought I'd bring you one. Napkin paper isn't exactly the best to draw on. Trust me, I'd know."

I smiled at her, truly appreciating the gesture.

"You draw?" I asked, curious to know more and maybe even make a friend here in the states.

"Mhm! Been drawing since I was basically born. You can check out my art insta if you'd like! It's @ casprs.art

"I definitely will!"

My stomach then grumbled like clock work.

"Ah yes, what would you like!"

I patted my stomach, feeling full and happy.

"Are you done with these?" The pale girl walked by, leaning over and pointing at the plates previously filled with food.

"Yeppers!" I chirped. "And when you can, the check please!"

"No need. On the house." She smiled. "I've been having a pretty bad day and you made it a lot better so consider this my thanks." She spoke, picking up the empty plates and cup.

I stared at her in awe. "Really? You don't have to-" She interrupted, seemingly on purpose

"Oh! And by the way..uhh...?-" The white haired girl pointed at me with her pen.

"(Y/n) (L/n)"

"(Y/n)" She repeated "I probably should have known that before doing something like this." She mumbled to herself. She scribbled something down on her notepad and ripped it out, setting it down on the table. "Here's my number if you ever wanna hang out or something...platonically of course." She then walked back into the kitchen, leaving me with a grin on my face.

I grabbed the small paper and put it in my wallet which I then put back into my backpack.

I stood up and waited for her to come out which didn't take long seeing as the diner had become rather busy now.

I walked over to her and smiled.

"Thank you."

She smiled warmly at me for what seemed like the 25th time in the past hour.

"Hey, Casper, hurry your ass up!"

I turned to see someone peaking out of the metal kitchen doors.

"I'll be right there, Syd." She rolled her eyes at this 'Syd'.

Wait..the Diner owner?"

"Well I should get back to work, see ya'!"

"See ya."

————

Just like that I was walking down the semi-dark streets once again. I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I wandered around until the sun woke up and rose again, I wasn't sure if Japan and California shared the same guidelines when it came to quirk usage. I couldn't afford to get arrested let alone in a foreign country.

I glanced at the phone in my hand to check the time.

10:03 pm

I looked up at the dark blue-black sky. I could see a few dots of white swirled into it making the sky just a tad bit lighter. The moon - it seemed to be in its 3rd stage- was also particularly bright tonight.

Just then a rather medium sized green explosion - well..exploded - in an alley way not too far from where I was.

Don't check it out

Don't check it out

Don't check it out

Ok I'm checking it out

My legs where carrying me at a pretty fast speed toward the area. I found it odd that no commotion was going on. No sirens, no screams, nothing.

I was now peaking into the alleyway as to not make whoever was in it aware of my presence.

"Shit." I heard a strained male voice grunt in pain.

My blood ran cold as I heard the sound of some kind of knife being pulled out of its case.

"Hold em' out for me."

Another male voice spoke.

"They won't fucking come out." A different voice said.

"Try harder. Those wings will sell for over 40 grand on the market."

Wings?

"We're fucking trying..!"

"Fine, then I'll kill him first."

Don't endanger yourself

Don't endanger yourself

Don't endanger yourself

Fuck it, I'm endangering myself

I quickly walked a bit farther and made a pretty large flame considering that there were multiple attackers.

I created a concentrated ball of smoke and a human-sized rectangle but made sure to have plenty more left over.

Alright, go time.

I stood at the entrance silently then threw the ball at them. I spotted the victim. A man in his early twenties with large vermilion wings. Once the ball crashed onto the floor, it exploded, releasing a huge amount of smoke.

"What the fuck!?"

They all began coughing as I ran in, grabbing the guy and quickly putting him on the rectangle. Using the left over smoke, I pushed myself along with the man into the air and away from the assaulters.

"Shit he's heavy." I grunted, feeling my muscles strain.

I landed on a building across the street and began running, jumping from roof to roof, still carrying the dude with the leftover smoke.

"I should have enough left to mak-"

Suddenly there was a 'fruh' sound and I was flying.

Actually fucking flying.

No smoke, I was just dangling.

That's when I noticed a set of hands holding me by my waist.

"I'm not that heavy."

I looked up to see the same man flying with red wings.

He smiled down at me before we landed on a cliff.

I was looking at the time as he flopped down onto the damp grass, stretching.

"Damn kid, that's a kickass quirk you've got there. So versatile."

"Th-thanks." I blushed at the compliment. Most people hated my quirk cause I'd make them go into a coughing fit. I found myself sitting down, crossing my legs, feeling extremely exhausted from the amount of energy I had just used.

He sat up, outstretching his hand for me.

"Names Hawks, pro hero. I can't believe I'm saying this to a kid but I ow ya' one for saving me."

I shook his hand and smirked.

"(Y/n), aspiring pro hero. Also yeah I know. I worked with Best Jeanist as an intern like a week ago at his agency and you don't owe me."

"Oh yeah! Jeanist. My buddy."

He grinned. Then his eyes widened. "Wait, intern? NO WAY.. YOU'RE THE GIRL FROM THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING MISSION?"

"Mjm." I looked down at the grass in embarrassment. "The one I failed?"

He looked at me with guilt. "That's not true. It's my fault."

My nose scrunched up in confusion.

"How the hell is that your fault?"

He looked at me sheepishly as he held his neck.

"Well~ I was supposed to help ya' out but got caught up in other..stuff."

I bit my lip as I tried to hold back a laugh.

"So I've almost died because of you..twice? Never mind, you do owe me."

He stuck out his tongue and then we both laughed.

"So tell me why the hell a teenage girl who is supposed to be hospitalized back home in Japan is doing walking alone at night in California?"

I gave him an eye roll and spoke.

"Tell me what a pro hero who is supposed to be back home in Japan doing paper work with Best Jeanist - don't hide it, I git a glimpse of his schedule- is doing getting his ass saved by a teenage girl in California?"

"Touché"

"But if you must know..the injuries were so bad that they had to send me to a specific doctor here and I'm walking around because...." I pushed any memory of blonde away. "Because I was bored."

"Oh, sorry about the whole..you got hella hurt thing." He looked guilty.

"It's fine." I responded

He then smirked.

"Then, if YOU must know..I can fly really fast and really wanted some of this fast food they don't have in Japan so I flew across the world for it and ended up finding a wanted criminal so I confronted him and..things went south. Also it's not true is it?"

I looked at him, puzzled.

"The part about you being bored."

"Umm, yeah it is?

"Is not."

"Is so."

"Is not."

"Is so."

"Fine don't admit it." He put his hands up.

"But whatever it is, I'm sure you guys will work it out."

"How do you know that advice applies?" I questioned, actually weirded out by the fact that he knew a rough outline of the issue.

"He's texting you right now." He pointed at my device which made my eyes go wide. I grabbed it, reading the texts.

I sighed, turning it off and putting it into my backpack.

"You're brother?" Hawks questioned.

"Ew no."

"Friend?"

I averted my gaze slightly, blushing.

"Ah, boyfriend?"

I bit the inside of my cheek.

"Listen kid, I don't know what he did or what you did but you guys are still teens, I'm sure it can be resolved if you just communicate."

I looked back at the vermilion winged fellow.

"I know. I just..I just don't wanna deal with it right now."

"I get what you mean. I've been having troubles with my relationship too so you're not alone."

"You have?" My head leaned to the left slightly.

"No." He laughed.

"You asshole!"

I then joined him in his fit of laughter.

"So did you ever get your food?" I asked, wiping a tear off of my (s/c) skin.

"Ah shit! I forgot! You wanna go get some food?" He asked, standing up and stretching his large wings.

"I ate like an hour and a half ago but sure. That get-away made me hungry.

"Aight let's go." One of his feathers moved under me.

"Shit! WHAT THE FUCK!"

I yelled in surprise.

"So you can fly dumb dumb."

"Oh. I didn't know you could do that." And then we both laughed once again, now flying above the city of angels.

And that's how we spent the rest of the night. Eating fast food that wasn't available in Japan and talking about dumb shit until morning.
