《Smoke (Bakugou Katsuki x Reader)》Chapter 28

Y/n POV
The first thing I noticed was a pounding migraine. There was an intense and constant banging pulse on the left side of my head; specifically my eye area which made me wanna bash my brains out of my skull with a baseball bat.
The second thing I noticed was a bright light. So intense and persistent that I could notice it through my closed lids. So white and blaring that it made my eyes not only burn but also made my migraine even more insufferable.
The third thing I noticed was the feeling of being watched. I had no clue as to who or what was looking at me or why but it or they were definitely there.
It wasn't uncomfortable though.
I couldn't decide wether or not to open my eyes and find out who was standing or sitting beside or around me. I also wasn't sure if I wanted to subject myself to the unrelenting light that was going to blind me painfully but not perpetually.
At the end, I decided to open them anyway.
"Ah fuck!" I barely mumbled as my throat felt extremely dry and soar.
It came off more as a pathetic squeak with a blend of "i've been smoking 20 a day for the past 10 years" kind of rasp.
I immediately cleared my throat several times, hoping that my voice would go back to normal.
"Where the hell am I?"
I decided I'd answer my own question by looking around the room.
A small area was revealed. White walls with matching floors and ceilings. I took notice of the monitor with various numbers on it. The beeping was constant which made me tap my finger to every perfectly predicted interval of sound.
Then I heard rusting.
I looked in its direction, my neck painfully straining with the fast turn. I had almost forgotten that there was a looming presence in the room. Tuffs of ash blonde hair stuck out of a black baseball hat. Pale, clear skin peaked out of a black mask covering a nose, mouth and chin which then became a sharp jawline.
Eyes I predicted would be red where tightly closed which were accompanied by furrowed eyebrows.

The familiar yet comforting scowl I had grown to adore.
"K-Katsuki?" I mumbled out.
His once closed eyes flickered open so fast that I wasn't able to even see the movement.
One second they were closed and in the other beautiful crimson eyes stared at me.
"Holy shit, Smokey. You're awake."
He embraced me in a tight hug that felt like it was rearranging my organs.
I squeaked in pain and surprise.
He didn't let go though.
"God fucking damnit, (Y/n). Don't ever fucking scare me like that again."
His raspy voice was muffled by my neck.
"I'm sorry."
I sat there momentarily, hoping he could feel my weakened embrace. My limbs and joints ached but couldn't pop. It was uncomfortable yet I could care less. All that mattered was the ash blonde holding me tightly in his strong arms at this very moment. I wished it could last forever. I desired with all of my body and soul that we could stay like this until we were old and gray. But disappointedly enough; we couldn't. I knew I had to get information somehow. I needed to know what was going on. As much as I wished there was nothing to know, I was aware of the reality of the situation . This. This was real.
"C-can you tell me what happened?"
He stayed still for a second, his head still placed on the crook of my neck.
His arms were still wrapped around me when he spoke up.
"You've been out for almost an entire week. They refused to give me or anyone else more details but all I know is that the homeless man we call a teacher found you on the floor while he was making his way around the area."
I barely remembered anything. I closed my eyes, trying to put the puzzle pieces together but to no avail. Nothing. Nada. My memory was completely blank when I tried to think about what had happened inside those dark halls. What replaced it was the blaring pain pounding against my skull.
"Do you remember anything?"
He spoke. His voice gentle and wary.
"Frustratingly enough; no."

He sighed, standing up. I watched as his perfectly sculpted back stretched, pulling on each toned muscle.
Just then a doctor wearing a light yellow scrub walked in.
"Ah, I see she's woken up." She smiled, her dark ginger ponytail flipping with the slight tilt of her head.
"I'm Dr: Cameron. Don't worry, I'm just here to change your IV and do a procedure. It shouldn't take too long."
I nodded as I watched her replace the the almost empty bag of transparent fluids with a full one.
"Can you lay on your side fore me?"
"Yeah sure." I smiled slightly, doing as she instructed.
I felt as she lifted the back of my gown, placing both hands on my back. I flinched slightly, feeling the cold latex gloves press against my skin.
"Are you a friend?"
I was confused at first but quickly realized who she was talking to.
"Boyfriend, why." He said in a rather aggressive but usual tone.
"You might wanna hold her hand for this. You see, my healing quirk draws out 77% of the pain and issues with her internal body, turns them into a kind of liquid form, and concentrates them into the area im touching. Since the back is the most accessible and easiest for her specific issues to reach, I'm doing it there. The problem is that the more pain and issues there are, the more painful the area im touching will get. And you have quite a bit of damage."
I swallowed nervously, feeling a bead of sweat trickle down my forehead, though I wiped it off quickly.
"And after that?" Katsuki questioned.
"Well once I'm sure that all or most of it is there, I use a syringe to take the liquid out of her body which will relieve most of her pain. My quirk doesn't work properly when the patient is unconscious in case you were wondering."
By the time she was done explaining, Katsuki was already at my side, holding my hand tightly,
He was acting supportive which was out of character for him which I found quite unusual but then again, that wasn't a bad thing so I decided not to question it.
"Are you ready?"
The redhead asked.
"Mjm."
"Take a deep breath for me and-"
I did as she said and immediately felt sharp pains erupt around my body.
"Holy shit." I groaned, shutting my eyes tightly.
I squeezed on Katsuki's hand as hard as I could, hoping it would help with some of the pain.
"Don't worry. Just a few more seconds." She assured.
I took in as many deep breaths as I could as tears began to prickle at my eye's inner and outer corners.
"Just hang in there. It's almost done."
I pressed my teeth together as hard as I could manage.
"Okay, I'm inserting the syringe and draining the liquids."
I felt the pinch of a needle right in the center of my back, piercing through the cluster of liquids which was probably the most physically painful thing I had ever experienced. Slowly but surely though, the unwelcome sensation faded into nothing.
She wiped the area with an alcohol cloth, put a band aid on it and stood up.
"There we go." She held the tube up.
Purple liquid filled the it almost entirely.
"You should feel a lot better now. You're free to leave in about 2 hours. The medical bill has already been taken care of by the pro hero agency you were working with. Once you are discharged, take it easy. Don't push yourself too hard."
"Okay, thank you."
"No problem." She smiled one last time before leaving through the sliding door.
My gaze shifted from the door, to the wall directly parallel to it.
There were 2 suitcases.
I recognized one as mine and one as Katsuki's.
"Hey um." I tugged on his sleeve, making him look up from his phone.
"Why is your suitcase here?"
"Oh right. You don't know."
I raised an eyebrow curiously.
"What?"
"You're condition was beyond the ability of most shitty doctors that were available in Japan. They originally wanted to send you alone but I wouldn't fucking let them."
My eyes widened.
"We're in California."

Suddenly, a succubus
The protagonist is a personality like an iceberg: introspective, asocial and completely uninterested in the world and its people beyond necessity. Approaching ships beware! A succubus, on the other hand, lives for desire and interaction, playing mortal hearts like a fiddle. These clearly mix like oil and water, so what do you get when you combine them? This is a story of that kind of emulsion. *** Completed with 62 chapters + epilogue (total of 111k words). *** This novel is bit of an experiment for me. I haven't written fiction before, for one. I also chose a character context that I normally wouldn't, and let the characters drive the story, especially in the beginning. Overall the main focus will be the main character's own story rather than the events of the world. The setting itself uses many familiar fantasy elements, though I plan to add my own twists. Note that I'm not really planning to write any steamy scenes, despite the said character context being literal demons of lust and all. There are of course jokes and scenes that skirt around the subject, but this is not a romance story of any kind. So, is it a mess? Probably. But I hope it's an entertaining one at that.

8 202Inertia
A man is summoned to another world by a goddess after completing the nigh impossible final boss of a game. However, this world isn't your typical fantasy world. Though it has magic, it is set far into the future where technology reigns, and magic itself is just a finely-tuned science. How will our hero survive in a galaxy that looks down upon humans? One where his race, which once reigned supreme, is treated like trash along the roadside. Will he, with his diverse crew, be able to save the galaxy while fixing the hostility between the races?
