"He won't answer his phone Jeno!" Jaemin cried.
The raven-haired let his hand fall down across Jaemin's face in a calm gesture. "We'll find him Jaemin. You shouldn't waste your pretty tears," he whispered and caressed the latter's porcelain-like skin, being extra careful not to make the slightest wrong touch.
"I just don't understand why he suddenly left," the younger sniffled and cuddled himself into Jeno's broad chest, causing the older to tighten an embrace around him. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize," Jeno stared at him. "It isn't your fault he's gone, it's mine. He just needs some time alone and I'm sure he'll come back soon enough if we don't find him before that," he said and released his grip on Jaemin, letting his hands glide down the latter's arms all the way to his twitching hands.
Jeno squeezed them and smiled, wiping away Jaemin's tears after.
"W-Why is it your fault?" the younger stuttered.
"I told him yesterday," was Jeno's answer. "And he didn't see it coming. I, one of his best friends told him he loves him, so I understand he might want to avoid seeing my face."
Jaemin only started crying harder.
The way Jeno told it with such a broken smile on his face made the younger pity him so much. He was hiding the pain and Jaemin wasn't blind. He saw that.
"Jeno-" Jaemin spoke but his words never fully sounded as a soft object came and consumed them.
Jeno's lips.
The action came so sudden that Jaemin hardly had any time to think. All he could focus on was how right Jeno's lips felt on his own.
They don't feel like Renjun's. Renjun's are more skilled and familiar, where Jeno's are fierce and unknown but filled with so much love and passion. But never the less, even after Jeno pulling away in the realization of what he just did, did it make his feelings stronger for one of them specifically.

No, he loves them completely equally, and he's a hundred percent sure of that now.
"Let's find Renjun," Jaemin said and gave Jeno's lips a little peck, making the raven-haired turn back to reality.

"Renjun!"
"Renjun?!"
Haechan frowned. "Where could he have gone to?" he mumbled for himself and stuffed his hands into the pockets of his shorts, kicking to a stone laying on the pavement. The stone rolled a few feet away and landed on the road, falling down onto the grooves of a sewer opening.
Mark looked at him with curious eyes that wanted to know his every little thought.
They were currently walking through the neighborhood trying to find Renjun. Haechan just wouldn't give up. He wanted to find Renjun and take him home safely. Although Mark had said Renjun could take care of himself and that they didn't need to worry, Haechan didn't care.
"It's getting dark, Haechan. Don't you think we should go home?" Mark practically begged. He was tired and his hands were freezing.
The weather was windy and cloudy, ruining the summer vibe that once was there. It didn't faze Mark too much. He had his own sun that shone so brightly, making the grey weather vanish like it was nothing but a mirage. And that sun was walking right next to him, hands intertwined with his own.
"Let's look just a little while more," the younger whispered and bit his lip, continuing to glance around the many stylish houses.
Mark sighed but didn't dare to complain more. And for a short while, the two just shared a calm silence. A silence they both enjoyed a lot. Mark always thought silences were awkward, and never had he known a silence like this could be just as great as a conversation coming from the heart.
But it was just, as said, a short while because Mark's phone soon started ringing, causing both to stop in their tracks as Mark answered the call.

"Chenle?" he blurted out after taking a quick glance at the caller ID. "Did you find him?"
"No, not yet," the younger answered. "Jisung and I are heading home soon, though. We're going to search a few more streets."
"Haechan and I will head home soon enough as well," Mark told him. "Have you heard from Jeno and Jaemin yet?" He asked.
"Yes," Chenle answered. "We got a call from them before I called you. They went up to the apple farm but Renjun wasn't there. Taehyung hadn't seen him, so the two are heading down to the beach now. Where are you guys at?"
Mark turned around to look at his surroundings, landing his eyes on a playground across the street. "We are right next to that little playground we used to play at years ago," he explained and was about to turn his head away, but froze where he was when he spotted a tiny figure sitting on one of the swings.
Haechan caught his gaze and widened his eyes.
"I have to go, Chenle! I think we found Renjun," he exclaimed and ended the call without giving Chenle a chance to process what he said. He abruptly stuffed his phone into his pocket and set off towards the other end of the road.
And the very moment Mark stepped his first foot onto the road in a run, it was like time completely slowed down for Haechan, his heart dropping by a sight that caused his instincts to kick in.
A car came turning unexpectedly from a corner, heading right at Mark. Haechan froze. Mark was going to get run down by a car. Haechan couldn't let that happened, and he didn't have time to think of what he did because everything happened in the span of seconds.
Mark ran across the road, a car was going to hit him, and Haechan managed to push the older away as far as he could only to fall and stumble with him down onto the rough concrete.
"Fucking kids!" the owner of the car screamed as he drove right past them, not even bothering to check if the two were okay after being almost run down by him. "This isn't a fucking playground!"
The car vanished down the road until it couldn't be seen anymore. Despite that, Mark kept staring after it. "What just happened?" he asked with a shaken voice. "How did you manage to see the car and push me away in such a short amount of time." Mark looked at Haechan.
"I swear, I didn't see it when I started running. How did you manage to see it so fast, let alone have time to process what was happening and react?"
Haechan smiled.
He wanted to tell Mark that it was his specialty.
Keeping Mark safe, keeping Mark happy, keeping Mark healthy.
All of those things are Haechan's specialty.
Or should we say... Donghyuck's specialty.
He stood up and dragged Mark with him. "My instincts kicked in," he told the older with a shy grin.
"Your instincts?" Mark questioned.
"Yes. I-"
"Are you two okay?!" Renjun came running over to them, having witnessed the whole scene from the swing he had sat on.
And yet again, they were interrupted. And maybe that was the last opportunity Haechan ever got to tell Mark what he is...

Alek, however, moved quickly, catching her mid-fall and keeping her upright, and alive. Claire lifted her eyes to meet his which were wide with alarm. The expression was fleeting, lasting for only a moment before it was replaced by a frown. "You could have fallen," he said pointedly."I know," Claire breathed, finding her thoughts drifting to the strong arm wrapped around her waist. A flush rose to her cheeks and she was grateful for the biting wind that masked her reaction.
