What happens when a guardian angel dies before their human?
That's a question most angels tend to avoid. Just imagining what would happen makes them sick to the bone.
An angel's human is like a mother's child. A responsibility and a creature they need to protect at all costs, help get through the hard times, make sure is safe and sound every ticking second, and follow them from the day they take their first step, to the day they take their last breath.
But what if the angel dies before the human? What happens then?
Try visiting the shady part of a big city, you'll find the answer. Drug addicts, junkies, alcoholics, abusers.
Try surfing the dark web, and you'll find the answer. Suicides, murders, homicides, rape.
Jaehyun couldn't let something like that happen to Taeyong, not after how well Ten had taken care of him. Ten had been the best a guardian angel could be to their human, and that's why Jaehyun refused to let such a wonderful boy like Taeyong break into pieces, becoming Taeyong's guardian angel after Ten killed himself.
Now Jaehyun sat at the edge of Taeyong's bed, staring at the boy who had been asleep since a long time ago. He understood why Ten had fallen in love with him.
Taeyong's such a beautiful and ethereal human being, and each moment that passed with Jaehyun staring at the boy, he wondered how many times Ten must've been absolutely heartbroken that he couldn't speak or at least touch the one he loves. Jaehyun's heart broke just by the thought and he wondered if he soon had to sit at the edge of Mark's bed, thinking about how heartbroken Donghyuck must've been back when he was alive...

Jeno eventually ended up on the balcony. He wanted to clear out his thoughts and maybe get a private place to let his tears flow, but someone had already chosen the balcony as their place to cry.

Haechan's tiny body was slumped down into a ball by the railing, small sniffles and hiccups escaping his plump and quivering lips. Jeno observed how dark the younger looked. He always shone with so much energy, but right now, his light was only a hazy flicker that seems to disappear every time a new wave of tears rushed upon him.
Jeno made his way over to the boy hesitantly, stopping next to the younger while keeping his gaze straight ahead of him.
"Having a bad day too?" His voice came out shakier than he had intended, the heartbreak finally getting to him emotionally. Haechan lifted his gaze and looked up at Jeno, not even bothering to hide his tear stains as he saw how the older was crying as well. He couldn't help but feel sympathy despite how much he didn't like Jeno.
The older sat down next to Haechan, making sure to keep some space in between them.
"Yeah," the younger sniffled. "Does your heart hurt?" he questioned and moved closer to Jeno. He had honestly forgotten all his hate for the latter at the moment. Right now, he just wanted comfort from someone who isn't Mark.
Jeno looked at him. "S-So much, it hurts so much," he stuttered through a cry.
Haechan took Jeno's hand into his. "Mine hurts too," he paused and smiled sadly. "Your eyes are taking baths like mine as well."
Jeno chuckled. "You're really cute, you know that?" he said and wiped away his tears. "I understand why Mark likes you so much."
Haechan's little smile immediately vanished at what Jeno said. "Mark doesn't like me," he whispered, gaze adverting to his lab again. "He likes you."
Jeno laughed. "You're not only cute but extremely dumb," he told and gave Haechan's hand a little squeeze. "Mark doesn't like me as anything other than a best friend."

Haechan teared up and met Jeno's warm eyes, feeling his emotions boil inside him. "But you two kissed and Mark said kisses are given out of love."
"Sometimes," Jeno paused. "Sometimes people do really stupid things," he sighed. "Things that they just want to forget. Mark and I aren't an exception," he assured. "Whatever Mark has told you, you can be sure that we feel nothing more towards each other than a friendly feeling, okay?"
The younger wiped away his tears and couldn't help but smile a little. "So you don't like Mark?"
"No," Jeno said. "I like two other people."
The tanned boy raised his brow. "Two?"
"Yeah..."
"Is it Renjun and Jaemin?" he questioned, realizing all the secret glances Jeno had given them throughout the day. Haechan felt a little dumb now, that he didn't realize the glances might have meant something different before now.
"Yes," Jeno mumbled. "But they like each other, so it's hopeless."
"Can't they have room for you too?" Haechan asked.
"That's sadly not how the world works." Jeno stood up and heaved a shaky sigh. He leaned himself against the railing and stared at the ocean that was lit up by the stars a few blocks away.
Haechan looked up at him with a pout. "I don't understand."
"Some things are just too complicated to understand," Jeno smiled. "You should go back to Mark. I'm sure he's missing you."
"He's sleeping," the younger mumbled.
"You can miss people in your sleep too, you know. It's getting late anyway, so you should go back and sleep."
Haechan stood up. "What about you?"
"I'll go to sleep too," Jeno promised. "I just need some time alone first," he added.
And as Haechan left the balcony after hugging Jeno and apologized for the way he had acted, Jeno let his tears flow to the point his chest physically hurt and he almost couldn't breathe.

"Where were you?" Mark asked with closed eyes, half asleep when Haechan entered the room.
"Jeno and I just talked a little."
Mark let out a tired groan. "Come here," he mumbled and stretched out his arms, making grabbing hands while his eyes were closed and face squished into his pillow.
Haechan was already wearing his pajamas so he walked straight over and sat on the edge of the bed.
"Haechannie," Mark whined and reached for him. Mark's cuteness only made the other smile as he moved over to Mark who immediately pulled him closer.
"Don't leave again," the older mumbled and snuggled into Haechan's arm. "I can't fall asleep if you aren't here."
And that was the last thing that left his mouth before he fell asleep again, leaving Haechan wide awake with a heart beating in sync with Mark's snores.
"Was Jeno telling the truth?" Haechan whispered and stroked the latter's black locks to the side. "Do you really like someone as unexplainable as me?"

Lost In Translation
If you're one to travel the roads, you may have heard of me. You may have heard my Names in the stories, the songs, and the whispers of the road. Perhaps you've even seen me during my travels, speaking to a bird of blue light, or on a city street, performing small acts for coin and repute. Or perhaps you may know me as the Skystrider, who walked with the wind. Or the Voiceless, a man of song without speech. You may know me as the Tutor, who taught the Lion of Summer how to fight, or the Traveler, who has walked all the roads of the earth. I am all of these things. And people have branded me a myth. But people don't understand what a myth is. They haven't heard the songs lost to our tongues, nor have they seen the things I've seen. They haven't gone to the places I've gone. My feet have walked the plains, the seas, and the clouds. I have spoken languages unspoken; tongues lost to time. I have sung to the earth, held the moon in my arms, and walked the roads that your heroes hesitate to even mention. I have outwitted Demons. I have danced with the Fae. My songs have been heard by lords of wind and ash, and my steps have echoed in the bellies of gargantuan beasts the likes of which you have never seen. These are what real myths are. And me? I'm no legend. I'm just the bard stupid enough to poke the real ones with a stick. Discord link here. [Disclaimer: Book 1 of this story will likely be published in KU by around the start of 2022, so please keep that in mind. Book 2 and onwards will continue here until they are published as well.]

All the while, he can’t help but envy the the students who are living the life he had so eagerly awaited. But when an object of great and malevolent power promises to make good on all the promises the mages broke to him Mar is thrust into the world of magic. Mar will find that fate had something more than a life confined to the library planned for him after all. Authors Notes: I consider this to be a comming-of-age Sword and Sorcery story based mostly on the style of classic western fantasies. So if that's your thing then I encourage you to take a peek. Something I want to mention though is that the main character starts of pretty wimpy, and that might not be your thing. That being said, if you stick with him he's got a long way to grow. Also, while this version of the story is meant to be fully readable, more dicerning readers may want to wait until I move out of rough draft phase. There may be some inconsistancies with character and plot while I am still in the rough draft phase. I'm sorry for this, but this is my first web novel and from what I've read the best way to get a good novel out is to write write write, and then edit ruthlessly after you're finished with the book, so that's the plan I'm going to follow. Again, this is a rough draft. Everything you are reading is subject to change, including the name, title, and cover photo. This may no longer be the case once I've decided I know where this fiction is going and I have a reasonable understanding of the characters and their behavior. You're reading what comes off my keyboard as it's made, with very limited editing. There will be mistakes in the text. I do a quick spell check to take out the worst of the errors, but there will be some I miss. You can point them out in the comments if they are particularly confusing or glaring and I will try to fix them, however I am not overly concerned about minor errors as this is not the final draft by any means.

The End
There are five days left. The End is a miracle 10,000 years in the making that will free all from the confines of the world. The gods will soon be born. There is nothing that can be done about this. Not a webnovel, but a screenplay, submitted as my dissertation for my screenwriting degree. Sort of experimental. I have learned that I dislike writing screenplays, but all the same, I thought I'd post it anyway so it's at least worth something that way.
