The house looked exactly like Mark remembered.
Big, modern, and weirdly not that expensive looking compared to some of the other buildings around the neighborhood they were in. Mark guessed it was the European styled roof that gave the house a more accommodating look. He had never minded it and actually preferred it over the extremely stylish houses.
It felt more comfortable.
Jeno turned off the car and pulled out the keys before exiting and opening the door for Mark. The older smiled and removed Haechan's head from his lap whereas he instead lifted him up by the thighs, placing the younger's head on his shoulders, and wrapping the latter's legs around his waist.
Jeno watched it in amusement, his heart warming at the sight. He had never seen Mark be so careful and considerate with a person before, and it made him extremely happy to see it happening with his own eyes.
Mark carried Haechan with ease as the latter was really light, Jeno catching up to them after locking the car.
They went past a hedge that surrounded the entire front garden, including the pool that was closed off by plastic at the moment. Mark smiled into the crook of the unconscious boy's neck, memories from all the summer's he had spent here replaying in his head like a movie. He was really happy that he ended up going at last.
Just as they were about to step onto the porch and knock on the big white door to the house, it opened and a happy grinning boy appeared.
Mark hadn't seen the boy who appeared in so long he almost cried when he saw how much he had changed. "Chenle!"
Chenle had blonde curly hair now and his face, especially cheekbones, had gotten a lot sharper since Mark last saw him. He had grown up really well.

"Mark!" Chenle shrieked back, and a curious expression made its way across his face. "Who's that giant boy you're carrying?" he asked in a tone that made it sound like it was the most normal thing.
"We'll explain," Jeno promised. "But can we lay him down somewhere first?"
Chenle smiled. "He can stay in one of the bedrooms upstairs," he said and moved away from the door so they could enter the house.

Everything was silent except for the ticking clock that stood on the bedside table at the bed Haechan laid on right now. Mark sat at the edge of it and stared out of a wall sized window that had a perfect view onto a beach that was a few streets away.
The first summer they spent here they all want to that beach. Jaemin was bitten by a fish and he screamed like a little toddler, getting a lot of weird looks from the other people who were there. The other five had kept making fun of him for it for the rest of the day.
Mark chuckled by the memory and stared down at his hands with a grin.
"What are you thinking about?" a deep voice caught him off guard. He turned his head towards the door where he found a tall brown haired boy standing.
"Jisung?" he breathed out.
"Nice to see you again, Mark," the younger smiled shyly. "You look like yourself."
Mark stood up from the bed and walked over to Jisung, a mixture of shock and happiness bubbling inside him. The younger used to be a little shorter than himself, now he was about half a head taller and his voice had changed a lot. "You have changed a lot, Jisung," he said and eyed him up and down.

The younger grinned. "On the outside, but not on the inside. I'm still the same," he mumbled, a little shy grin on his lips.
"That's good to know," Mark said. "A lot of people change drastically in their teen years."
"Chenle has taken good care of me," the taller sighed. "I missed you a lot, you know. The other's too," he looked away and caught the glimpse of Haechan's unconscious body on the bed. Mark saw where his gaze fell and went to explain but was cut off by Jisung.
"Jeno told me a little, but I expect a full explanation when Jaemin and Renjun arrive," Jisung demanded.
Mark looked at Haechan. "You'll get one," he promised and turned his attention back to Jisung. "Because I need you guys' help in this."
☾ ☼
Jeno was really nervous. Him, Chenle, Jisung, and Mark were sitting in the main living room, waiting for Jaemin and Renjun to arrive. The others were catching up on each other but Jeno just couldn't think of anything else than the two boys who would arrive soon.
Out of everyone, Jeno had only kept in contact with Mark and Chenle, so he hadn't seen Jaemin and Renjun since the last time they all hung out at the house. He couldn't stop fiddling with his fingers, wondering if the two had changed, wondering if they still acted like their old selves.
Jeno had been denying it for a long time now, and he didn't want to anymore. He knew he felt a romantic feeling towards them both. He had always known that he like Jaemin, but there was a point in time where he couldn't stop thinking about Renjun. And only recently he accepted that he liked both.
He knew it was hopeless, which was also why he kind of hoped that the two had changed so he would lose his feelings for them.
He just didn't want to be hopelessly in love anymore, especially with two people at the same time, because in the end, it would be double the heartbreak.
His thoughts were cut off by a dinging sound that resonated through the house.
"Guys! Renjun and Jaemin are here!"
Luckily for Jeno, the two had changed. Unluckily for Jeno, they had changed in a good way. A way that just made Jeno fall even deeper than he already had.

What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
