(A/N: This was the first poem I've ever written. It was written approximately 2-3 years ago. This is the unedited, raw version from those years ago. This will also be a comparison as to how I write poems then and now. I hope you guys like it!)

A silver glint, turns to a glow,

Morphing from a solemn black

To a ghostly white,

Underneath the ever-growing light

Of the full moon's sight.

A hushed rustle sounds

from the thick undergrowth

As the monarchs of the forest emerge,

Gleaming with grandeur and majesty.

They race onwards,

Their silent velvet paw steps,

Through the undisturbed, pristine forest.

Cautiously, they come to a halt,

Ears swivelling,

Nostrils flaring

Eyes glinting,

Acute senses alert.

They listen,

To the gentle breeze,

That sings through the trees

And the daily gossip

Of the nighttime dwellers.

They smell,

Stale scents of past prey

And the sharp sweet tang

of the myriad of trees.

The see

The moon

A giant orb

A silent spectator amongst the stars,

And the rippling light that glows

In its ethereal way.

With their hushed steps,

They continue,

Patrolling territory,

With the utmost care.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

The wind trills softly

As they leap over the

Stream of diamonds

Grace and dignity

Rooted inside them.

With a silent signal,

They spring onto a boulder,

Commanding the land below them.

Their heads swivel to the skyline,

Waiting...

When the sun breaks through the horizon,

Spilling fiery rays onto the land,

Their eyes set ablaze with royalty,

They lift their heads and sing,

They sing their haunting song

To the rest of the woods.
