《Clashing Hearts》3

Beep!!! Beep!!! Beep!!!

I jolted and dropped my phone on the floor of the car.

"Shit!"

I looked at the rear-view mirror and saw the shiny car that pulled behind me. I checked the side of the road and saw the big clearance. I was not blocking the road, the driver could easily pass through the entrance.

I heaved a sigh and dismissed the car, bending down to get my phone on the floor.

Darn it, where is it?

My hands reached under my seat touching the floor but I could not find my phone.

Beep!!! Beep!!! Beep!!!

The loud impatient beeping sound made me jump and hit my head on the steering wheel.

"Ouch!" I rubbed my head.

Feeling annoyed at whoever that person was inside the car, I sat up and faced the car to have a glimpse at the driver, but the windshield was tinted dark it was hard to see.

What is the problem with that person? It's easy to pass through at the side. I already parked here. He can't have me moved near the long bushes and under the withered trees, I just got this new car I don't want any scratches!

The beeping sound stopped, I guessed he already figured out his problem. I heaved a sigh then reached for my phone again.

Darn it, where is it?

The sudden knock at the glass window made me look up in surprise.

First thing I saw was a midsection of a man, wearing a very white plain shirt and blue denim jeans. Obviously the driver of that blue car. Hmm... he looked lean and tall, flat abs, pretty athletic body, but still...

I don't understand. Can't he just move his car? Or else he's an arrogant jerk who wants to take my space!

I pressed a button to roll the car window down. What a nerve coming up on me. I muttered to myself.

"Well, well, well. Look who's here!"

My heart dropped on the floor when I heard a familiar voice. I looked up and was greeted by the grinning face of none other but the person I loathed to meet or come across--- I avoided him like a plague. I ignored him like he did not exist. I evaded him like a demon from hell.

And now, I have no choice. I'm face to face with the devil.

The instant anger I felt almost choked me. I inhaled deeply before I managed to say something to the beast.

"What are you doing here?" I asked the ever 'feeling' perfect, who could never ever go wrong, Mr. Carter Monteiro. I made my tone firm and confident. I did not want him to think that he could easily intimidate me.

He chuckled, that irritating chuckle that made me angrier. Everything about him just made me angry.

"I should be the one asking you that. What are you doing here?"

"That's none of your business." I snapped at him.

"Okay." He shook his head and gave me that look that I could easily read-- that I was a stupid dumb bitch. Nothing new, that's what he always think of me.

Well, I don't give a damn what he thinks, no one can pull me down.

"This is not a parking area." He continued and heard him tapped the roof of my car.

"Says who?" I was in for a debate. I would argue with him till morning if he was just making it up.

"Says ME." He emphasized the word me and made sure that I did not miss it.

"You? Ha!" It was my turn to let out a bitter laugh at him.

The nerve of this arrogant asshole. As if he owns the place!

Let's see once he'd find out that I would be buying the land he was standing at. I could not wait to see his shocked face.

His eyebrows rose, giving me an odd expression. "Can't you even read that?"

I followed his hand and saw the NO PARKING sign at the bushes.

Damn it. How come I missed it? The sad part, I did it in front of this irritating jerk who often think of me so small, like an imbecile.

Perspiration ran from my nape down to my back and my temple burned. I felt humiliated and angry.

"This is a public road, you could be charged of illegal parking." He continued.

"Okay, fine. You don't have to lecture me, I got it." I replied stubbornly and started the car. I moved the car across the road and parked beside the Old Smith Art Museum building. I did not care anymore that it was under a withered tree.

Carter followed and parked his blue Audi beside me.

I wondered what he was doing here, and it gave me an odd feeling. No... no. He could not be interested in buying the museum. His family ventured on hotels, shopping malls, activity and convention centers and condominiums, not on museums or galleries.

I was too paranoid. I was certain he was only looking for some rare art pieces for his girlfriend. Besides, Mr. Murphy told me that very few only knew about his plan of selling the museum.

I checked the time on my wrist watch, my goodness, it was exactly three in the afternoon, time for my appointment with Mr. Jameson Murphy.

I took my Chanel black handbag, unlocked my car and reached for my phone under the seat, even moved the seat backwards, but still I could not find it. Where the hell is it?

I felt agitated for a second not having my phone with me. It never left my side and became an extension of my life.

What if mom or dad will call? Well, they're in Thailand for a week's vacation and my younger brother Mars knows where I am.

The door of my car instantly opened and there stood my nemesis looking like a true gentleman.

How sweet!

But he could not fool me with that candy look and flashing sweet smiles, not anymore. He was nothing but a devil. I could see clearly the flames that surrounded him-- like HD TV, his red horns were growing and that pitch fork trident on his hand... was burning hot.

Hot. Hot....

The tabloid magazine referred Carter Monteiro as ruggedly hot, strikingly handsome, charming, very simple and humble. No one would think that he was a billionaire.

I agreed on him being too rugged. He always, as in always wore shirt and denim jeans. When he attended a party, he would only top his shirt with a formal jacket. The jerk had no fashion sense at all.

But still, I did not understand why girls found him so sexually appealing. Maybe because he was elusive. Playing hard to get to all the girls because he was verryy choosy with very high standard. He only dated smart professional girls with PhD.

"At your service, madàam." He said it with a bow. As always, he was back at that silly game again, provoking me.

I stepped out of the car without looking at him. He really knew how to annoy me.

I held my head up as I stepped on the wide marbled ascending stairs towards the front door of the museum.

"You're welcome." He said while trailing behind me, then followed by a soft chuckle.

I instantly stopped at the top of the steps and turned to face him. I had enough of him. He was like a child pestering me all the time. Weren't he tired of it? We were not kids anymore.

Carter also stopped abruptly. His face almost landed between my breasts! I stepped backwards, embarrassed at the near incident. He would humiliate me more if that thing ever happened.

The corner of his lips twisted in a wry smile, as his eyes shifted from my breasts to my face.

"What is your problem?" I blurted at him.

His eyes raked my face boldly. "Nothing." He answered and walked to the front door ahead of me.
