The expression on Presley's face was heart shattering, and it broke poor Stefan's heart. Her lips parted as she tried to find words, but nothing came out. She sucked in a sharp breath, grasping the material on her chest that covered her heart. The pain was evident on her beautiful features.
"W-what?" She whispered, leaning against the Jeep for support
"Pres-." Rick began, but he stopped when Presley turned and slammed the flat of her hand against the cool metal of the Jeep.
"No!" She cried, tears streaming down her face. She continued slapping her hands against the Jeep, screaming, "No, no no no!"
At last, Stefan stepped forward, wrapping his arms around Presley and pulling her away from the vehicle. Rick and Maggie both shared a horrified expression at the sight of Presley breaking down. Nearly everybody in the area was frozen to their spots.
For Presley, the pain was undescribable. All the memories of what the Governor had done to her came flooding back, keeping her from thinking strait. She sobbed, leaning away from Stefan's body as he continued to hold her in his arms. She was scared for Daryl, beyond scared. In her mind, this had been all her fault. Daryl was no captured, and it was her fault.
"I-I need to go get him." She whispered, choking. "I-."
"No, you're nothing thinkin rationally." Rick said softly, but Presley retaliated by shaking her head.
"I am thinking rationally." She insisted, shoving herself away from Stefan at last. She wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand. "I am not leaving him there. I am not leaving him there to suffer worse pains than I did." She said bitterly, pulling the pistol out of her holster and reloading it. Her hands were shaking and she nearly dropped one of the bullets while reloading it.
"Presley-."
"Rick, shut the hell up, okay?" Presley said, slamming the black object back into its spot. She glanced over her shoulder at the Jeep, knowing that she had about half a tank of gas. "I know where to go. Stefan, will you help me? You know the place better than I do." Presley asked, yanking open the car door. She moved to slide into her seat, but she was yanked back by a strong arm. She spun, facing Rick, who had just done that. Her eyes were narrowed with anger, but the fear was evident in her expression. You would have to know her quite well to know that her palms were getting sweaty and all she wanted to do was lash out.
"Don't touch me." She said bitterly, yanking her arm from his grasp.
"Give me twenty minutes, Presley. Twenty minutes." Rick practically pleaded. "Going by yourself is suicide."
"She wouldn't be by herself." Stefan said quietly, earning a small glare from Rick.
"Twenty minutes, that's it. If you aren't ready I'm taking off." She said, glancing over at Stefan. His heart broke to see her expression, but it was shattered to know that she cared for somebody other than himself. In his eyes, Presley was some sort of angel brought down from the heavens... And meanwhile, Presley was becoming absorbed in another man. All he wanted to do was wrap her up in his arms and treat her like a queen, but she wasn't like that. Presley wasn't one to settle down just for a boy. She needed somebody to fuel her fire, not burn it out.
And so, Presley waited, counting down the precious minutes that it took for Rick to return. By the eighteenth minute, he had returned, with people and a vehicle in trail. She noticed that Glenn was going, undoubtedly to get revenge on the Governor for whatever happened to Maggie. A few other people that Presley didn't recognize trailed behind. She put aside the rifle she'd been cleaning, brushing a tendril of hair behind her ear and approaching Rick. Her heartbroken expression was replaced with a detirmened look.

"What's the plan?"

Presley stood with her back flat against the fence, her blue eyes looking back and forth quite frantically. The plan had been simple, but that didn't mean it would be easy.
"Let me go. I'm fastest." Glenn urged Presley. She ignored him and lowered the gun, now only waiting for the whistle.
"No, Glenn." She said simply, avoiding his gaze.
"Pre-."
"No, damnit." She hissed, now glaring at him. "You have something to go back to: Maggie. Don't you dare get blind sided with revenge and try to be the super hero. This isn't a comic book, Glenn." She said, glancing over her shoulder when she heard the whistle. "Boost me up."Without another complaint, Glenn laced his fingers. With a grunt he was able to lift her up to the top of the building, where she rolled onto it safely on her stomach. With much caution, she crawled over to the edge of the building and peered down. A few buildings away, Stefan was camped out where she would go, where Daryl was mosty likely being held. Posted on another building right across from her was Rick with a sniper. A few people would hop down from buildings and make a clear way for her to get to the building.
She was going into this knowing that it could be a suicide run.
She crawled back to the edge of the building, offering a hand to Glenn. He struggled to get up, having to use the window sill to help himself. She winced when he let out a rather loud grunt, glancing around to make sure that nobody had heard it. She crawled away when he was mostly on, looking at Rick for the cue. The man waited until Glenn was at her side before he gave her the thumbs up.

Daryl's cheek stung from the force of the Governor's blow. The taste of metallic blood in his mouth told him that his nose was bleeding as well.
"Tell me, Daryl." Governor said, gripping Daryl's chin with a harsh grip. "Where's the girl."
Daryl huffed, his stubbornness not allowing him to reveal that Presley had ran off, and probably wasn't coming back. For once, he was glad that she did. It could be her enduring this rather than himself, and he wouldn't be able to handle that... It would be torture worse than the stuff he was enduring now.
Gunfire reached his ears, relieving him a tad. The Governor frowned, pulling a black walkie talkie from his waist. "What the hell was that?"
"We're under attack, I repeat, we're under attack. People everywhere- girl running through the place. Nobody gets the chance to touch her." There was a slight pause. "I just got word it's that girl you had prisoner here a while back."
The Governor frowned, shoving away the walkie talkie and turning back to Daryl. "You're proving to be more trouble than you're worth." He grumbled, pulling his pistol from his holster and walking quite quickly out of the room. His presence was replaced by one of his men, who wore a worried expression.
Daryl's wrists strained against the rope binds, knowing that anybody could burst through here at any minute. He was relieved. Why? Because Presley had come back... But he was also scared out of his mind. What if she got hurt, or captured again? His fear of having that happened was what gave him this rush... Not that he was able to do anything, of course.

Only ten minutes after the Governor had left and posted a new man at the door, there was a loud banging on the door. The man, alarmed, turned towards Daryl and pulled out a switchblade. Before Daryl could say anything, the cool metal was pressed to his throat. By the time the door swung open, Daryl's head was being held back by his hair. A gun was first raised at Daryl's head, and then the man behind him.
"Do it, I dare you." Presley said, her breath a bit labored. She took a few steps toward the two, only stopping when the man harshly pressed the flat of the blade harder against Daryl's neck. She flexed her hand around the gun. "I see one drop of blood and you're on the ground."
"You won't get out of here alive." The man said, shifting the blade.
"I know, but neither will you." She said, and then squeezed the trigger. She shoved the gun into her holster and rushed to Daryl, her blue eyes searching his face. She pulled the gag from his mouth and pulled out her own blade, cutting through one of the ropes. "Untie yourself." She said, pulling out her gun again and approaching the door. She stood at it with her hand on the trigger, raised at head level.
Quite frantically, Daryl tried to untie his wrists as fast as he could, but he wasn't fast enough. The door burst open and Presley was only able to shoot down one man before she was forced away from the door. She twisted, firing two more rounds, crouching behind the only piece of furniture. At last Daryl was able to free his hands, eying the switch blade that Presley had dropped beside him. Swiftly, he scooped it up and threw it at the head of the man, watching as it stuck in its place and he dropped instantly. Presley fired down the other when he moved to assist his friend. She yanked another gun from the holster attacked to the back of her belt, thrusting it to Daryl, along with a few bullets. "Make em count." She said, dropping into another crouch and creeping to the door.
"You came back." Daryl said, disbelief dripping from his voice. She didn't even turn when she answered him.
"I forgot Zeva." Her stiff reply left a stinging in his chest. He grunted, checking how much ammo the weapon had. She dropped beside the wall, rolling her shoulders in preperation for what they were about to do. "There's a building, and next to the building is a dumpster. If we get to that dumpster we can climb onto the building, and then we're about a few hundred yards from the vehicles. You stay right on my ass and shoot down people if they get too close." She paused, glancing over her shoulder to look at him.
"Ready?"
"Ready."

Presley was quick and confident on her feet, using various obstacles around the street for a shield. Daryl had known that she was courageous, but he hadn't expected her to be downright fearless. Then again, you needed to be fearless to get this done. She moved quite quickly, hardly even glancing back to make sure Daryl was keeping up with her. No matter how the two of them tried to spare the ammo, they did eventually run out. Thankfully, the building wasn't too far away.
Presley tossed him a knife and pulled out her bow, knocking an arrow into place as she ran. She jumped nearly a foot in the air when somebody shot right at her feet, sending herself bumping into Daryl's chest. There was a brief moment when she glanced at his eyes, and he swore he could see fear written all over her face.
"We're almost there." She urged, turning around a corner. The hand wasn't quick enough to grab her, but it was quick enough to grab Daryl, especially in his weakened state. Presley lifted the bow, training the arrow on the man's head. He held Daryl by his throat with a gun flat against his temple.
"Let him go." She said stiffly, shifting her stance. Daryl could see her eyes dart nervously down the street. He also saw the dumpster she had mentioned earlier only a few strides behind her. She could very easily get away, but for some reason, she didn't. She stood there, blue eyes narrowed in warning.
"It's not him we want, anyways." The man said, pressing the gun harder against Daryl's temple. He struggled, but wasn't even able to loosen the hold of the man. "The Governor wants you. I don't know why Merle decided to drag him here. Obviously, he's not worth the trouble."
Presley swallowed, taking a deep, shakey breath. He watched in horror as she dropped her bow towards the ground, her fingers loosening around the black object. "Alright, than let him go." She said quietly. "I'll stay."
"Presley, no!" Daryl yelled, though his voice was hoarse, he knew she understood. The man pushed Daryl away so hard he crumpled to the ground, too weak to hold himself up. Daryl made a move towards the man again, but stopped when he saw the barrel of the gun trained on his head. "Don't do this. Don't be stupid."
Presley looked over at Daryl as the man grabbed her arms, forcing the bow and arrow to clatter to the ground. "I'm sorry..." She said so softly Daryl thought that his ears decieved him. It was torturous watching the man drag her by her arms, but the horrible image didn't last long.
Gunfire rang out, and Daryl looked to see Stefan holding a gun where the man had once stood. Presley stumbled from the sudden freedom, glancing at Stefan. A small, relieved smile creased her features. The smile didn't last long, for she ushered Stefan towards the dumpster, and then Daryl. Glenn, who had just now seen what had happened, grabbed Stefan's wrist and helped pull him over the edge of the building. Next Daryl went, and then Presley. Daryl turned and helped Presley up, drawing in all his strength to pull her up. She crawled and rolled over the edge, moving up into a crouching position. Her bow was strapped to her back, right where it was supposed to be.
The people escaped, along with Rick, though they had lost two of their own group. The people piled into the vehicle, with Presley in the back of the truck, shotgun in hand. Their victory was one to be celebrated another day, for Daryl was too worried about the question he had wondered about since he had escaped that fence:
Would she stay?

8 271MARKIS
It’s the year 2034, in almost two decades there was a scientific breakthrough enough to shake the world, it was to simulate a world so real, you could mistake it for real life. The first ever application of this proprietary technology, known as NR, was for the first ever, NR-RPG game, MARKIS. After almost 25,000 people had logged on, it was then known that they wouldn’t be able to exit out of the game. Essentially trapping them inside. Removing the headset will mean death. It was then that Miyamoto Takezo, the creator of MARKIS and the NR technology showed himself in front of them. He said “If you want to get back to your once happy and loved life, then you will need to finish this game. You who surpass all will be the ones to free the rest. For that is the mission that I have given you. Survive, survive and reach newer heights, reached by no one else.” This is the story of a boy and his friend, as they struggle through this world all to get back to their real lives.

8 162I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
