Tapping and clicking I managed to kill one more family. Starvation and embarrassment seemed to be on my side as the game was a quick one. I was so busy making and killing characters that I hardly heard the knock on the door. I took off my headphones and the music was also paused.
"Come in," I called and the prettiest girl I'd ever met walked in. Her skin was flawless to even my scrutinizing eyes. She was happy and the smile seemed genuine. Her long and blonde hair was fresh and clean. Her hand pointed to the game where death was on his tablet. Claiming a soul. I paused the game as I turned off the monitor and looked at her face.
"Sorry. I am Jasmine and just wondering if you could tell me the deal with yourself and Jary?" I had to keep back a smile when she had said the name. I did give her a smile but it was a polite one, not a mocking one.
"We don't really talk. I mean, we used to go out. One of those, dating before we were dating. It stopped. Just general disagreement between a couple. We are friends now. Why do you ask?" Her eyes glanced across my clean office that smelt amazing. I knew it smelt amazing because it always did.
"He just. I can't talk about you. We were on track to watch something. He made a comment about you two always watching on a Friday. Then all of a sudden we aren't going to watch anything and you aren't in the mood to watch with us." She was smart but something ticked me off. Her body was familiar. Not physically but the way that she held herself.
"We ended a couple of weeks ago, months even. Touchy for me. Don't worry. I'm good now and you two seem close. I just figured that if you are up to anything or want to get up to something then I shouldn't be there. I mean, three is a crowd. Especially when two are dating." She agreed with me and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"So, you don't mind us going out? If we were to be romantic with you around, that is okay with you?" I made a smacking sound with my lips.
"I don't like PDAs. So no on that front but I see no reason why you can't hold hands and me feel comfortable. Kiss, just not too much. Though I will just leave if I think it's too much. I see no reason to make you stop." She nodded and walked up to me. A smile still plastered.
"Thanks." She hugged me so close that I felt my lungs crush. Jasmine was a girly girl. A type 1. Something and everything I am not. Nor will I ever be.
Type 1. The girl who giggles and smiles and does anything to get attention, nothing that is bad, and she will love the world. Even if they build walls to keep her out. She is also a size zero and only eats organic.
Type 2. Me. The girl who looks like a mess all the time. Who shouts for fun and enjoys some of the attention to be on her. Slightly thicc but in the booty and thighs. I eat anything. Carb or not. I do like my shakes but only because of the sweetness.
When she left I turned back to my game for a second. Loading it up, when my phone went off.
We have to move the wedding to a month from now. Alfie's parents are sick. Can you be a babe and drive? We will find you a date for the wedding here. Xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I will pack and leave. I have an idea for a date anyways. Xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I packed and true to my word I left. Jaren saw me return to grab my bag. He didn't acknowledge me, even after I had waved and so I just walked off. Not in the mood to deal with that.
The car journey was filled with music and snacks. I stopped on occasion to pee. All of the roads seemed to be closed. Four hours for a one hour trip. It was hell but I had to be there. Just as I was about half an hour away I used my car to phone someone.

"Hey, Zeus. Can I ask a massive favour?" It felt wrong but he knew the truth. No matter how bad he loved me we were friends but he was always there for me and I was there for him if he needed it. That's what friends do.
"Yeah. Is it about Matt's wedding?" I was so glad he already knew and so I didn't have to break that one to him.
"Actually it is. You see, I am made of honour because friends but I have no one to go with so would you go with me? Unless you have someone." His laugh was sad and I could only relate. "You too?" I asked and the sound he made as an answer told me enough.
"Sure. I was actually worried about that myself." I sighed and we spoke a little about the day. He wasn't paying much attention to the day before but he had offered to help me.
"Thanks, Zeus. Sending my love. Now I am at Matt's house so have to go. Meet me after work?" He didn't respond but hung up. I felt like I had done something bad but there wasn't anything I could do so I just climbed out and walked up to the door. No knocks given as I walked in.
"What a pleasant surprise. I entered a room and people weren't fucking. Please teach the world your ways." Matt hugged me so close that I got flashbacks to Jasmine and I had to bite my tongue on the subject.
"You seem happy." I turned my head to see a lesser spotted Zeus. He was tall and his skin a slightly darker shade than mine. And I had been in the sun for an age in the Bahamas.
I wriggled from Matt and clung onto Zeus. My arms wrapped around his shoulders and his arms around my waist. My face moved up next to his. I nestled my face into his neck and clung on close.
When I pulled back my face was greeted by a camera. The phone was hit and Alfie had to catch it quickly. Then I walked up to him and gave him a hug.
"Why did you give Zeus the biggest hug?" As Matt asked I went back for a hug.
"Because he is beautiful and I see you two like, once a month? I see him like, once or twice a year. If that." As I climbed down the large hand of Zeus moved for him to wipe his nose. Only, I flinched.
"Why you so close to me?" Zeus pretended to get annoyed and I tried to square up to him. Only, I stopped growing at 5 foot 5 inches and he did not.
"Careful or I might slap the black off of you." He nearly laughed but stopped. Still looking angry as hell.
"I would threaten to do the same to you but it looks like somebody already started." In a second I felt like crying but also laughing. He right. I was half white and half black so I had skin far lighter than him.
"And his name Pete." At that, I realised the camera went down and open mouths all turned to me. I pretended not to notice but it was tough not to react.
"Was?"
