"Where were you?" Scott asked Stiles who had walked into the economics after following his best friend's many, many, many texts.
Him and Violeta had ended up spending the entire first period outside on the bleachers. After their intimate moment, they had ended up splitting a chocolate bar Stiles had found in his bag which, of course, had been an orange packet of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
This made Violeta finally bring up how he broke the vending machine.
And from that more light-hearted subject, the duo spent the period joking around and teasing each other as friends hanging around do. Except, Stiles knew that after what he'd just witnessed, they would be more than just 'mere friends.' Violeta had let him in... fully in. This wasn't like in Carlos' shop where she surprised him by offering to tell him everything he desired to know. This was about her. Not as Violeta Rodriguez; a girl who somehow knows about Scott and has some cool abilities herself. This was about a quiet girl whose grandma was dying and she wanted someone to be there for that, for her.
So, he honestly had to pinch himself a few times during one of her rants about whatever movie they had been discussing that that — that this — was actually happening.
When the bell had rung, they had to get up because a) some people had track next and were coming out for cross-country training and b) they had a mid-term tomorrow that Stiles seemed to care for. As they got up, Stiles finally checked his phone and saw the fifty messages from Scott. Violeta was happy to part, saying she needed to go actually get her books. Stiles smiled at that, feeling somewhat responsible that Violeta Rodriguez had cared enough to go get her books. Yes, he was definitely going to take pride on that positive change from how he'd arrived to Chemistry this morning and seen the chip on her shoulder in how she acted towards Jackson.
Even ignoring the fact that he was a gigantic dick.
Alas, Stiles Stlinski was practically glowing as he walked into the class and sat beside his friend at their regular spot.
"I was checking up on Violeta." Stiles said. Scott frowned and then his lips turned up, staring at his best friend with inquisitive eyes.
"Do you like her?"
"What?!" Stiles cried a little too loudly and a little too high pitched. "No, no, no, no. No way. She's uh — she's just a friend. A good friend but a friend is all. We're not, like... that. She's, like, you know..."
"What?" Scott asked.
"I dunno. Beyoncé." Stiles said. "And I'm Weird Al."
"Weird Al?" Scott asked, clearly not knowing who he was.
"Weird Al Yankovic." Stiles said. "That guy who makes the parodies. Eat It? White and Nerdy?" He listed some titles, hoping to trigger his friend's memory.
Scott's face lit up. "Oh yeah! Weird Al. I know him!"
Stiles stared dead-panningly at his friend. "...You don't know who he is, do you you?"
"No, I'm sorry." Scott said. "But anyway I don't think that matters. Like, her, uh, friends like you and—"
"Hey, testicle left and right," Jackson Whittemore interrupted Scott. "What the hell is a kanima?"
Stiles and Scott stared at each other before turning to look at Jackson. The latter of which filled them in on what he had heard Erica and Derek discussing out in the hallway. Coach was talking about how hard the mid-term when he walked up to the trio who had all shifted to face each other and discuss what was going on.

"Jackson! Do you have something you wanna share with the rest of the class?"
Jackson leaned back in his seat and scrambled to think of something to say. He put on a charming smile as he said, "Um... just, uh, an undying admiration for my Coach." Stiles rolled his eyes but the Coach smiled at the compliment.
"That's really kind of you." Coach said, continuing to smile. Jackson smirked, seeming left off the hook. Then, "Now shut up! Shut it! Anybody else?" The Coach asked, looking around the class.
It was at that moment that Violeta had decided to rejoin the class. She did look significantly different from this morning. For one, she had changed out of her clothes as when she opened her locker, an old, half-drunk coffee hand fallen out and spilled over her jumper. Thus, she was left only with her shirt that was tucked into her pair of Nike pants. Not to mention, when she had been cleaning the coffee off her in the bathroom, she had tied her hair up. She had forgotten to take it down and decided against bothering trying to hide it since she was only in a shirt and couldn't tuck it into anything.
What was most different was probably that she had books tucked under one arm and a smile on her face. She was looking at the Coach with an amused look and a sparkle in her eyes.
Stiles felt his mouth fall open at the sight of her.
As did every other boy in the class. The shirt was black and tight and hugging. Suddenly, everyone could see what had been hidden with baggy clothing. Moreover, with her hair up and a smile on her face, she looked infinitely more 'pretty' and the hidden beauty Stiles knew was there stood out.
"Violeta! You're late!" Coach snapped at her. "You can answer a question on the board for that." She said nothing as she put her books down and picked up a piece of chalk and began answering one of the questions.
She saw Lydia Martin scribbling an answer that had nothing to do with numbers and blinked when she realised she was writing backwards. It took her brain a moment to adjust but Violeta read the words SOMEONE HELP ME written all together. Her breath left her, not expecting a reaction like this. Yes, Lydia was still developing but there was no reason for anything... like this.
Violeta dragged out her the spaces between her answer so as to move closer to Lydia. She then began muttering under her breath, hoping to ease whatever was going on with Lydia. She then finished her answer and the incantation and held Lydia's arm to which the girl jumped and let out a scream.
"S'aight!" Violeta called and stomped her foot even though nothing was there. It didn't matter because no one would see from behind Coach's desk. "It was just a spider. It got away." Lydia looked down at the plain linoleum floor and up at Violeta.
"I'm scared." She said, a faint whisper that was barely audible.
"It's okay." Violeta said. "Go sit down, ain't nothing gonna hurt you." She added as further encouragement. Lydia did so and Violeta noted Stiles taking a picture of what Lydia had written. She frowned and turned around and as she was pretending to add something, accidentally rubbed out Lydia's 'response.' After that, she went and sat down at her desk and picked up the textbook and started to flick through it. Then, he phone vibrated. She picked it up and read a message from batman.

lydia wrote someone help me.
what's wrong with her?
jackson told me derek wants to test her and if she's the kanima then he's gonna kill her.
Her eyes flashed across the screen, reading the message a few times. She wasn't sure what to text back since if she said that Lydia wasn't the kanima, which she sure she wasn't, it would mean she knew who it was — but she couldn't do that without being sure. Finally, she settled on: I know I read it. I'm not fully sure tbh & don't worry about Hale, hes not gon get to her.
She looked back to where Stiles sat, reading his phone from under the table. He looked up and she nodded at him, hoping to give him some sort of reassurance. He nodded back. She then saw Scott notice the interaction and ask his friend. Stiles glanced back at Violeta, as if asking permission. She smiled and nodded again to which Stiles then explain to his friend what she had sent.
In the mean time, Violeta had to figure out what to do with Lydia and keep her safe.

It was Chemisty and Violeta glared at Harris who scowled at her as she walked in. They were doing lab experiments and so many of her crew decided to skip out, not bothering to sit and learn to how to make a fucking crystal. "Like what kinda shit gon' be useful? Like, here homie, imma make you a fucking crystal nd shit?" was what she overheard UG say as he walked out of Economics. None of them said anything to her but she could tell they were all a lot glad that she looked... lighter. Not as pissed off. Smiling even.
Which she was when Stiles approached her after economics and walked with her, Scott in tow as they made their way to Chemistry. Once again, he was speaking in rapid speed about what was going and the danger Lydia was in and how we were going to stop Derek and what Jackson said and why Lydia had written that and screamed because there was no spider was there? He knew there wasn't and he also wanted to know what we do now because Isaac Lahey had gotten a lot more douche bag-y and why do all werewolves apparently feel the need to wear black or leather? Since when did Lahey wear a leather jacket? Did Derek take him to the shopping centre or something?
"Violeta!"
"... like I don't even think it's real leather and— speak of the devil." The human boy had finished with as Isaac Lahey called out from behind them. All three, Stiles, Scott and Violeta, turned back to see Lahey leaning against a locker.
"I heard you were asking about me." He said, acting all cool and casual. Violeta will admit, he did look good. Better. A lot of girls passing by did a double-take, giving him an appreciative up-down. Violeta, however, didn't really like change.
"I was worried about my friend." She called back.
"Just friend?"
It took her a moment to understood what he was insinuating. "Oh, you want to be more than friends, do you?" She asked, taking a step forward. Isaac pushed himself off the lockers and came to stand face to face with her. He held up a hand and brushed a strand of hair off her shoulder.
"Would that be so bad? I am superhuman."
Stiles wanted to punch Lahey in the face.
The werewolf didn't glance in his direction but he might as well have. He knew the reason he said 'superhuman' as opposed to 'member of the supernatural' or, you know, just good old 'werewolf' which is all he was. A stupid freaking werewolf. A werewolf who wore stupid, fake leather jackets (that Derek Hale may or may not have bought) and tried to act all cool and mysterious. But he was werewolf who wore stupid, fake leather jackets and could act all cool and mysterious because he was supernatural. And Stiles wasn't. He was a plain, boring human.
Something that someone like Violeta wouldn't even glance at. There's a reason Beyoncé was with Jay Z and not Weird Al Yankovic. Although, at least Weird Al and Beyoncé had being singers in common. What did Stiles and Violeta have in common? Black converse? Liking movies?
There was silence and Stiles wanted to turn around and trudge his way to Chemistry when he heard it. Uncontrollable laughter. It was Violeta's. He knew that laugh anywhere, treasuring that sound after hearing it only so often. However, today he had laughed more than he had heard her laugh in the entire time he'd known her. And he was hearing it now as she laughed in Isaac's face.
He actually saw her wipe a stray tear as she tried to control her subsiding laughter. "I'm so sorry for laughing. That was incredibly rude but, oh, pollito no." Stiles felt his lips turn up into a grin when he heard her call him a small chicken. "No girl goes for the douchebag in a fake leather jacket. I recommend toning it down first."
She turned around and walked back to where Stiles was, falling in line with him as they walked into Chemistry together. He wanted to say something as her laughter subsidised but found that he couldn't. What would he say? Scott wiggled his eyebrows at him and he wacked the werewolf on the bad of the head. She raised her eyebrows at them but said nothing. Instead she gestured with her head at him.
"Go."
"What? Where?"
"We're partnering up for lab. Lydia Martin is sitting by herself. No one is rushing to be her partner because they think she's weird now." Violeta said the harsh truth. "Go before Isaac or Erica can get their chance."
"Why me?"
Violeta frowned and turned to Scott who was watching the two of them. "Um, aren't you, don't you... have a, uh," she frowned and thought of the word, "you like her?"
"What? Ohhh!" Stiles said. He opened his mouth but Violeta saw Isaac and Erica walk in and sighed, pushing the boy towards Lydia's table. He fell into the chair beside her. Scott raised an eyebrow at Violeta who just patted him on the shoulder and walked off to sit at the table behind Lydia. Scott came and sat next to her. She was surprised at his choice, figuring he would sit with Stiles or Allison when she came in. She didn't say anything.
"Einstein once said said," Harris began, walking up and down the class, "two things are infinite... the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe. I myself have encountered infinite stupidity..." Harris said, stopping beside Stiles and making a show of patting him on the shoulder. A few people laughed at that. Violeta watched his reaction and saw how Harris' words affected the teenager.
"Sir?" Violeta put her hand up, "Are you referring to the fact that you're misquoting a theoretical physicist in regards to chemistry which are two different sciences or is the infinite stupidity in this little tirade of you trying to embarrass one of your top students and call him stupid... even though we all know Stilinski is at least top five in the class?"
Harris stopped and sighed to turn and look at the Spanish girl. One her face was a pleasant shit-eating grin as more people laughed at her comment. She saw Stiles whip his head to stare at her. She didn't meet his eyes, staring amusedly at the chemistry teacher who called her out and could do nothing.
"I merely wish to combat the plague of ignorance in my class."
"By misquoting famous people?" She asked. "Yes, that is one way to educate the ignorant... with wrong information."
"Anyway," Harris made a point of ignoring what she said and the laughter that ensued, "we were be working in labs to see if two heads are better than one or in Mr Stilinski's case..." Violeta sat up in her seat, waiting for him to finish the sentence. Harris' eyes met hers and his exhaled, knowing she'd be ready to pounce on whatever he said about the sheriff's son. "... more than one, as it's been pointed out that he's top of our class."
Stiles' eyes bulged out of their sockets when Harris didn't finish with a 'less than one' sort of comment that he'd been expecting. He turned around to look at Violeta who winked at him. He turned back, feeling a smile engulf his entire face. Violeta winked at him and looked down at the sheet in front of her. Stiles gaze then met his best friend who sat next to her. Scott saw the blush that rose on Stiles' face. He raised his eyebrows suggestively once more and Stiles scowled at his him.
Harris then began pairing people up. Lydia was moved with Allison, which was a relief, but then Harris called out Scott's name... followed by Erica's. The werewolf was torn when her eyes met Violeta's green ones. The girl had been nothing but kind to her. She had offered support in hospital when she was rushed in with another fit and generally always seemed to be kind and caring.
It was for this reason that she toned down the sly, mischievous smirk on her face into an awkward smile. Violeta rolled her eyes at the girl, not appearing to care much. She patted her on the cheek as she walked past to sit down next to him. Stiles.
He looked properly disgruntled and flushed. The events had very obviously set him on edge. His foot was tapping on the ground, his finger tapping on the desk, his other hand holding a pencil he heavily chewed. Violeta didn't ask him about it when she sat down.
She heard him humming under his breath. Tilting her head, she realised that it wasn't any sounds he was making but a proper tune. A tune, she swore, was a song. She frowned and continued to listen to the quiet noises he made to himself. The tapping had stopped but his pen was still in his mouth as he continued to hum to himself, reading over the instructions printed on the paper in front of him.
She found herself lightly tapping with her own finger against the table top. She knew it was a song but what song would Stiles Stilinski be humming?
Then he began humming what was the instrumental break of the song. Violeta knew this because she finally figured out what it was and what the next part was coming. It was the part when the entire band finally joined in, and the song takes a turn with the evocative turn with Alex Turner's tone and lyrics. She grinned and spoke the lyrics that were about to come up from where Stiles had been humming.
"But I crumble completely when you cry. It seems like once again you've had to greet me with goodbye."
The pen dropped out of his mouth.
He turned his head to her, mouth practically hitting the ground, unable to believe what just happened.
"You... like..."
"Humbug was better."
Everyone in class looked where the loud crash came from.
Unsurprisingly, all eyes landed on Stiles Stilinski. He had fallen out of his seat. Actually fell. Violeta stared at him, as did everyone else, but he could only stare at her. He couldn't even take note of the embarrassment that was him on the Chemistry classroom floor. If Harris had done or said anything, he wouldn't have been able to tell. All of his attention was focused on the girl who whispered the lyrics of the song he'd been humming to himself. A favourite song. By a favourite band. And she'd quoted the perfect lyric of the perfect song at the perfect moment.
"You good?" She asked.
Her question snapped him back to what was happening. He scrambled back up and got into his seat. Violeta had gone back to doing the first step in the list of instructions but Stiles could not focus on Chemistry right now.
"Y-You like the Arctic Monkeys?"
"Is that so hard to believe?"
"Well... yeah. I mean, uh, don't get me wrong but, like, you seem the rap type. Like, gangsta rap. With an 'a' at the end. The good old hip-hop. Is hip-hop rap?"
"Stiles," She said, "stop talking."
"What? No! You're like the only other person in Beacon Hills I know who listens to them."
"Tomei listens to them." Violeta said without even a glance. "She's who got me into them. She met him once when he was bartending or something—"
"—bartending at The Boardwalk in Sheffield," he interrupted in a quick voice, making her finally meet him, "yeah I know. Wait, you said she met him?"
"They're friends."
"Holy... shit." She said flipping her hair to the other side of her shoulder, revealing that she multiple piercings in her ears.
"Hey, I didn't know you had your ears pierced." Stiles blurted out. Violeta frowned and turned to the boy who was looking at her ear. She shrugged and rolled up her sleeves to get started working on the prac. "You have a tattoo!" She shhhed him and immediately brought her sleeves back down. "Was that a sword? That's so cool!"
