《Mate ( On Hold)》Chapter 3 Homecoming Night Disaster

Everybody still thinks I'm a human, except for Klaus of course, since I've already told him. Tonight is Homecoming night and The Scooby gang has made a plan with Michael to kill Klaus. Elena completely forgot about the mate thing especially when she has Stephan to worry about. So now I'm on my way to prom wearing a sleeveless raven black dress, matched with Louboutin heels.

"Elena! Caroline just texted, the party is being moved to Tyler's house, because the gym flooded." I said to her.

"Alright, let's go." She replied. We both slid into her car and headed straight to the place.

The first thing I did when we arrived at the already full swinging party was to look for alcohol. A party with out alcohol shouldn't be called a party. As soon as I spotted the table of drinks, I made a bee-line towards it.

The place was beautiful, decorated with twinkling fairy lights. There was a small stage where a local band was performing. Every inch of Tyler's backyard was occupied by bodies, which, frankly, is annoying.

"Hello love, never imagined you as a drinker." The disturbingly sexy voice of my Klaus Mikaelson whispered next to my ear after I down half a bottle of beer. I nearly spat the drink out of shock.

"Klaus, what are you doing here?" My voice was wobbly, not a good thing.

"I'm touched, you remember the sound of my voice." When I turned to face him, his lips were set as a wildly attractive smirk while his hand was placed over his dead heart. I snickered at the irony.

"Cut the crap, why are you here?" I asked, looking around, trying to distract myself somewhere else with anything.

"I just wanted to see my beautiful mate, is that's not allowed now? I'm hurt." He said pretending to wipe a tear, causing me to reach up and slap his arm. Something about his mood was queer and it freaked me out.

"Bye Klaus. I'm going to go to people I actually want to be with and talk to." With that I left to find Bonnie or Caroline.

But of course my annoying lips lifted at the corners as I walked away.

"Go ahead, kill her. Kill her! I call your bluff father! KILL HER!" I heard the oh-so-familiar voice shout. Instinctively, I ran towards the commotion to see a dead Elena lying limp on the floor.

My heart calmed down as soon as I realised it wasn't my sister, but instead Katherine. I thanked my lucky stars I could sense that she is a vampire. Mikael stood outside, behind her body while his son stood inside the house, protected and safe from his father who hasn't been invited in.

Suddenly Damon charged at Klaus from behind, stabbing him in the lower abdomen with the white oak stake. I covered my mouth in shock. Damon was going to kill him. Out of no where, Stephan came crashing into Damon, forcing him a good five feet away from Klaus. My heart almost jumped out of my ribcage.

I stood, limbs shaking. I can do something, I could do something. I'm a witch! But I let fear take that away. Stephan's stunt bought Klaus the time he needed, allowing him to kill Mikael with his own weapon.

Mikael's shouts and screams of agony could be heard throughout the whole house, yet nobody came. The stake combusted into flames, burning his writhing body along with it. Klaus stood, watching his father burn to death, not moving. There were tears streaming down his face as he cried silently. I watched as he wiped them away with one hand.

"What the hell did you do," Damon seethed, still under Stefan's hold.

"What the hell is going on! This isn't the plan!" I screamed at them just as Klaus walked back into the house.

"You? You knew about this?" Realization flashed in Klaus's eyes making his expression unbearable to watch, a mix of anger betrayal and sadness. Through the bond I could feel his pain. He was already pointing an accusing finger in my direction. "You, want to watch me die in front of your eyes. I can't believe you."

"Klaus I'm so sorry. I really am. I did- I didn't know. I-I" My eyes began to tear up and it was harder to speak at the thought of loosing Klaus. There was something about that fact that made me want to bawl my eyes out and hate myself.

"Stop. Stop it! You don't want me, just like everyone in my life! If you don't want me I will find a witch who can unbind us!" His voice wasn't venomous like I'd expected, but instead broken and hurt.

"Klaus, no please, I'm sorry! Please, please just give me a chance, please Klaus. Just one. I'm sorry I didn't know it would affect you this badly. Your pain, it's tearing me apart, please forgive me." I cried in despair. I didn't know what came over me but I couldn't bear the thought of not seeing him ever again. I let out sobs and covered my face with my hands in utter shock and shame.

"I knew you couldn't resist me," he said in a collected tone, back to the my-ego-is-bigger-than-Jupiter tone before kissing my forehead. I glanced up at his face. All trace of hurt and betrayal that was painted on his face seconds ago was wiped out. He was smiling--grinning, almost.

"Shut up, you idiot. You're going to pay for that." I pulled his face closer to mine and kissed him with so much passion my legs started to wobble, so he held me by my hips steadying me.

"What the hell is going on?" Damon shouted sarcastically from behind. My eyes widened as I registered the forgotten and confused Stephan, Damon, Caroline and Tyler.
