Once again, Aricka felt tired, started bruising easily, and had more fevers than normal. Remy and Virgil rarely left her side. Deceit and Logan tried to get them to, but it never happened. Patton and Roman helped by bringing food to the two watching over her while Thomas went to get their doctor.

After an examination, the doctor said, "I'm afraid my suspicion was right-her leukemia is back." Aricka scans the faces of the boys in front of her. Remy's grip on her hand got tighter, Virgil hugged her closer to him, Patton and Logan reached for each other. Roman's fists clenched together, and her dad was-well he looked-scared.

"What will I have to do?" she asks quietly-quieter than any of them remembered her being.

"We're going to send you to the Wolfson Children's Hospital. You'll stay there and do more chemo and radiation therapy for a month." Aricka nods, and leans back, her head on Virgil's shoulder.

"When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow."
