《UNDER HIS PROTECTION》- Chapter 32 -

The sun had not risen and Tahir had begun praying fajr. After he finished praying, he sat down to make dua and didn't forget to include anyone when asking Allah to ease their lives and their hearts.

With a job like his, sometimes, prayer wasn't necessarily able to be at the top of his list, but he always made up for it.

Just as he picked up the prayer mat, he looked towards Anisa who still, had not awakened. As he placed the mat on the counter and went to leave towards the sofa, he felt a hand grab his wrist so softly.

Immediately, his eyes widened and his senses were woken up after realizing that Anisa had extended her arm out to grab his.

"Anisa," He turned and took a seat on the chair just beside her.

Anisa grunted from all the pain she felt around her body, but she was able to open her eyes and finally see Tahir's blue orbs that felt as though they gave light to her.

"Tahir," she spoke, "Is it really you?"

He nodded and inched closer for her to see him. She gave a soft smile as soon as she cupped one side of his face and stroke it with her thumb. She was content and she felt safe. Seeing that expression on her face made Tahir wear a smile on his own face and he held her hand.

"I missed you," Anisa softly said

"I missed you more," Tahir kissed her hand.

Anisa chuckled and tried to get up. She grunted as she did and Tahir instantly scolded her.

"You can't get up, not when you just woke up."

But, she didn't listen. She managed to lean on her pillow behind her and look up at him with a small smirk that caused him to shake his head and scoff.

"Since when did you ever listen," he said.

Just then, he felt her arms go around his neck and she embraced him in a hug while she placed her head on the crook of his neck. Tahir instinctively put his hands around her waist. THe hug was warm, calming, and a feeling he missed far too well. He felt as though he could finally rest and he closed his eyes as he hid his face in the crook of her neck.

"I heard you," Anisa told him

That's when Dr. Maryam's words came to Tahir's mind. She was right, Anisa would listen and she did.

"I never planned on leaving you," she pulled herself apart from him and looked him straight in the eyes. He saw that spark again and couldn't help but smile and cup her face.

"I wouldn't have let you leave me either way," he told her.

Anisa felt closer to him than ever. She didn't realize how much she had missed him after being away from him for so long. While she looked at him and enjoyed his presence, she suddenly remembered the last thing that happened before she passed out. Abbas had taken her to her hotel to announce their marriage.

"Wait, Tahir," Anisa began to breathe heavily, "What...where's Abbas? Where's my mother?"

She panicked and she wanted to know what was going on. But, she drove Tahir to be confused.

"Anisa, don't worry about Abbas. He won't be able to get near you again. But, your mother has already been gone."

Anisa shook her head, "No, she's not. She was there. He had her all this time..."

Tahir stood up with his eyebrows furrowed, "Who? When? Anisa, I need you to tell me what happened back there."

"He took me to this room. It was the only room I saw besides another one. Everything was set up. It was like he knew he would be bringing me there. Then, he threatened me to marry him. He wanted to become king and I never would've allowed that. But, that was up until he introduced me to my mother with a gun pointed towards her head and said that she'd die if I didn't agree," Anisa explained.

Her eyes had already began to flood with tears but she tried not to let them out. She was tired of crying. She wanted everything to go back to the way things were. But she felt out of control. She wasn't able to regain her strength. Not when things were so out of her reach.

Tahir cupped her face and wiped the small tears that managed to make their way down her cheeks, "You've cried enough. I hate seeing you cry. Just lean on me and I'll help you find her, ok?"

Anisa nodded and Tahir pulled her in for an embrace once again. There were a lot of things going on in his mind and he had a few ideas. But, he needed to leave her so he could take care of them. He didn't want to leave her. Not in her weakest moments. But to ensure her happiness, it was needed. Luckily, this was the most heavily guarded hospital. It was the agency's so he shouldn't have to leave the building.

When Anisa pulled apart, she looked up at the clock on the wall to read that it was already sunrise. She still felt tired and crying didn't help make the pain in her eyes go away.

"Tahir," she said

"Hmm," he looked at her.

"I'm tired," Anisa looked down at his hands that she was caressing and focused on the veins that were imminent throughout his arm.

Tahir nodded and told her, "Go to rest. I'm right here. I won't go anywhere."

Anisa gave him a small smile as she slowly went down to rest her head on the pillow. While she placed one hand under the pillow, the other held Tahir's hand and assured her of his presence. She no longer wished to be apart from him. The days she experienced without him felt like torture she had never felt.

To help her sleep, Tahir gently patted her shoulder with his other hand and watched her slowly drift off to slumber.

Anisa slowly fluttered her eyes open, adjusting to the lights of the room, as well as the sunlight coming in through the window. She slowly got up and looked beside her, expecting Tahir to be there. But, he wasn't so she began to panic.

"Tahir?"

She called out.

She felt the frozen tile as soon as she stood on her feet. She was still losing her balance because it was her first time walking in the two days that she was admitted to the hospital. The vitamins and the medicine that were given to her were also, still running in her system which caused her to become dizzy.

"Tahir!" She called out again.

At this point, she was experiencing a trauma that grew from the kidnapping incident. Without him, she didn't want to take another step or even open the door of the room. Her fear drove her crazy and she continued to call for Tahir.

"Tahir! Where are you!?"

Suddenly, the door opened and Dr. Maryam rushed inside.

"Anisa! You can't get up yet," She tried to hold her arms to help her back to bed but Anisa pushed her away.

"Please, don't," Anisa begged.

Dr. Maryam sighed, "Anisa, if you won't let me help you, how else do you expect to get better?"

"Where's Tahir," Anisa ignored her statement.

"He's here. He just went to go do a few paperwork and handle some security matters. Rest assured, he'll be here as soon as he's done," Dr. Maryam assured Anisa.

Anisa tried to read her eyes to tell whether her words were true. She still felt suspicious about it but because of her weakness, she didn't want to stand any longer.

Before she could respond to Dr. Maryam, there was a knock on the door. Hoping it was Tahir, Anisa took a step forward. Instead, Yasin walked into the room and he rushed towards Anisa as soon as he saw that she had woken.

"Anisa! Why are you on your feet?"

"Yasin? You were here?" She asked in confusion.

But, she wouldn't let him touch her either. Her fear was still there, but she calmed down as soon as Yasin appeared.

Yasin realized that she didn't want to be touched so he paused and motioned with his hands in surrender.

"Yes, ever since you got admitted. I've been walking back and forth between you and Layla's room," he told her.

Dr. Maryam kept her eyes on Anisa's expression and actions. She needed to know her condition in order to further her treatments. So far, she was pretty strong for someone who had been through days without food or rest. Even some of the bruises didn't seem to be bothering her.

While Yasin and Dr. Maryam helped Anisa get back to bed, Tahir welcomed Mr. Latif to the meeting room of the hospital. Just as he was going to call him to come in, Mr. Latif beat him to it and announced that he had important information he needed to discuss.

"Please, sir," Tahir motioned towards the chair at the very front of the table.

Mr. Latif walked over and took his seat over there while Tahir sat on the chair just beside him.

"You're not going to like what you're about to hear," Mr. Latif began.

"The only good news I've gotten was Anisa's consciousness. I don't think anything can ruin that," Tahir scoffed.

"Well, it's because it's related to her,"

That was when Tahir stopped roaming his eyes around the room and looked Mr. Latif straight in the eye with an intense glare, indicating that he was ready to hear the news.

"There was another woman with Anisa in the remote location she was kept. Abbas prepared that woman to play as her mother by force and brought her in weeks before he was able to capture Anisa," Mr. Latif said with distress.

Tahir froze.

"I knew that was the case. I was watching the security footage our team was able to gather from that location. Then, I went in to interrogate her and as soon as she announced her last name, I already guessed the situation. She was bait for Anisa. In order for Anisa to accept the marriage proposal by Abbas, she was lied to," Mr. Latif explained.

"She said he threatened to kill her mother...turns out, it really wasn't," Tahir sighed as he rakes his fingers through his hair and leaned back on the chair.

"This man isn't right in the head. Watching the security tapes, he performed every action a serial killer would. He can't be roaming the public any longer," Mr. Latif said.

"He must be exterminated," Tahir suggested, "I'm not going to let Anisa wake up every day knowing that the man that abducted her is still alive."

Mr. latif grew worried. Tahir was furious and he was speaking out of anger and his dire need to protect Anisa.

"We can't just kill this man. Not without certain permission and conditions," Mr. Latif reminded him.

"He is a serial killer! What other reasons does he need? He took two woman in his own custody and manipulated BOTH of them. He had this plan from the start! You think he'll stop?" Tahir growled.

"I'm aware!" Mr. Latif yelled and calmed down after seeing Tahir irritated, "It's why we are going to get him in our custody and you won't have to see him ever again because he'll be in Area 9."

Tahir looked up at Mr. Latif, "You think being deep underground in a cell, heavily protected by electric shields will stop him?"

"All I know is that you haven't gotten approval to sentence him to death," Mr, Latif waved his hand in the air out of mockery.

"He touched and harmed a royal. In their book of conduct and rules, that is punishable by death," Tahir snapped back.

"So you're going to follow the royal conducts now? Whatever happened to the conducts of your own agency?" Mr. Latif questioned.
