《When We Crashed》Epilogue

*One week later*
Ella's pov:
Trying my best not to fall on my face, I skip each step on the stairs as fast as I can with one destination on my mind...
Luke's bedroom.
...
WAIT!!
It's not what you think!
Today is the day I've been waiting for my whole entire seventeen years of living.
Yes, I had my goals planned even before coming out of the womb.
Boss baby who?
"Wake up sleeping beauty, guess what day it is??!!!" I kick open the door to his room with a big smile on my face....
Only to see a Luke Barrington face first in his pillow, not even flinching at the sound of the door being slammed open.
"Mhhhhm" I hear him mumble, as I shake my head at him, the wild grin not leaving my face as I walk towards him and sit on the edge of his bed.
"Come on, we can't be late on the first day." I say a little more quietly, lightly shaking him, completely drawn to his cute sleepy state.
His dark hair was all over the place, as his arms were tucked under the pillow.
And then, my eyes were drawn to his back, where his white t-shirt was pulled up, exposing someone of his lower back.
And that would have been fine...
If he wasn't so fit from boxing.
"First day of what?" His deep morning voice almost hit me like a truck, as I had to keep myself from falling off the side of his bed.
I'm surprised he didn't ask how I got in.
Or how I knew where his spare house key is hidden.
...
Look it was an accident! I was just admiring the flowers outside of his house.
I didn't expect to find a key...
And always remember that it is there for no particular reason at all.
Look I'm innocent okay?
Plus, it's not like I broke in, the security guards were there of course.
All you have to know is that Richard, the guard, likes snickerdoodles and bam!
Free access.
I mean look, it was either bribery or black mail.
The angel of me won that internal battle.
"School!" I can't help but start smiling like crazy again.
Yes, I still couldn't believe it!
After a talk with my mom, she realized that she can't be so protective over Ally and I anymore.
So, she said that we can go to school for our senior year of highschool!
And ever since then, I have been going crazy with the school shopping.
Even went as far as to shedding some tears in Walmart when I picked up a backpack.
...
It wasn't one of my most proudest moments, but could you blame me?
I have been dreaming of going to school for years!!
But when I picked up the backpack, it hit me out of nowhere.
I won't be stuck at home everyday.
No more homeschool, or having no one to talk to.
"I don't want too..." Luke whines, taking his blanket and covering his head with it.
"Luke..." I draw out, tugging the blanket and pulling it from off of his head.
"Ahhhhh the light, it burns!!" He screeches, burrowing his head farther into the pillow.
"Hey, only vampires get to say that."
"I am a vampire."
"Are you going to suck my blood?"
"Bla bla bla" He says, in a hotel Transylvania voice.
"I don't say bla bla bla." I laugh, as I poke his arm, trying to get him to get up.
"Wake up."

"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"No."
"Is that all you are going to say?"
".......Yes."
In attempt to wake him up, I reach under him and grab the pillow out of his arms.
"Hah! Now you, WHA-......." I screech as I feel Luke's arms wrap around my waist and suddenly, I am being flipped under him against the bedsheets in a blink of an eye
I feel my cheeks start to heat up as he bury's his head into the crook of my neck, his warm breath making me gasp slightly.
"Mhhhm why are you so warm?" He mumbles, his arms that were wrapped around my waist squeezed me tighter, as he attempted to pull me even closer to him and...
I don't want to think his abs but I am definitely thinking about his abs.
"Uhhh..." I say, no words in my head being able to form a complete sentence.
He starts to move his hands up and down the sides of waist, even lifting up my shirt the tiniest bit to trace small circles on the bare skin above my hip.
Only he knew I was most ticklish on my sides, and even if he did start to tickle me, all of his muscle weight wouldn't even give me the time of day to successfully push him off.
I love him...
But was he going to be the death of me.
And he knew it.
"I say we just stay here all day, so I won't be without you." He mumbles, I feel him lightly kiss my collarbone before burying his head deeper in my neck.
And gosh, as tempting as it was...
As he was...
I couldn't lose sight of what I came here to do.
To somehow wake him up.
And the truth is, I am failing... miserably.
Taking my hand, I move some of the loss strands of hair off of his forehead before kissing the side of his head, "please, wake up... for me?"
I feel him freeze for a second, as he stops tracing the small circles above my hip.
He looks up from my neck and towards me, "On one condition."
"Hmm?" I can't help but smile, knowing what he was going to say.
"Kiss me."
I roll my eyes, and lean down and peck him on the lips, "Now will you let me go?" I ask.
But instead of moving, he just shakes his head, "No, a real kiss."
"Hmmmm?"
"A real kiss."
"A real kiss.......?" I draw out, acting confused while trying not to laugh as he squints his eyes at me.
"You're enjoying this aren't you?"
"Enjoying what-..." but before I could finish, I feel his lips connect to mine instantly, but being the person I am, I don't open my lips making it so he won't get his 'real kiss' after all.
Tired of his distress, suddenly, he bites down on my lower lip, causing me to open them in reflex as instantly takes it as his chance to deepen the kiss.
After a couple of seconds, he pulls away and smirks, "See, was that so hard?"
But instead of answering, I look at him confused.
"... How do you not have morning breath? Why was it more like...
tooth paste... WERE YOU AWAKE??!" My eyes widen in realization as he winks at me, detaching his arms from around my waist and sitting up.
"Come on, we don't want to be late." He says, as I sit up and stare at him as he walks to his desk chair that already had his clothes picked out.

Looking back at me and letting out a small but... very evil laugh, at least that's what I would like to call it, he walks to the bathroom to get changed.
I shake my head and stand up from the bed to fix my hair, putting it up in a high ponytail.
"No, leave it down." Luke sticks his head out of the bathroom, as I look at him through a small mirror above his dresser.
"But it's-..."
"Perfect, just like you." He says, going back into the bathroom, as I once again feel the blush trying to creep it's way onto my face.
I will never understand how he is able to affect me so much.
It almost kills me to think about us when we were just friends, or how we stayed like that for what felt like an eternity.
After he finishes, we make our way down stairs, as he grabs my hand and leads me into the kitchen, "I'm guessing you were too excited for school you forgot to eat right?"
I place my hand over my heart and grin, "You know me so well."
He laughs and shakes his head, grabbing two blueberry muffins from his pantry and handing one to me.
"... So how come you never asked how I got here in the first place?" I ask, taking a seat on one of the counter stoles, as he stands on the other side of the counter facing me.
"I knew you would be here, I hope you really didn't think the guard would let you in just because of a couple cookies." He grins as my jaw drops.
"You told him to let me in? I gave him snickerdoodles!! They could have been mine!!!"
"It was kind of funny seeing you hesitate on giving him the cookies, you wanted them so bad."
"You sound like a stalker."
"If it makes you feel better, I do what I do because of you." He winks.
"No rhyming, it's too early."
"Get used to it marshmallow, we have English class first period together Every. Single. Morning." His grin widens, but it falters as someone enters the kitchen, that someone being none other than Mason.
I couldn't help but eye him as he walks past us, grabbing a piece of bread and putting it into the toaster, before turning around and looking at us.
Already preparing myself for what he was going to say, I stare him down as he walks towards us.
But what he says next... I wasn't so prepared for.
"Uh... I just wanted to wish you guys good luck on your first day of school." He says out of nowhere, looking between the both of us.
I look at Luke who was eyeing his brother, "Thanks....." he says, and looks at me, grabbing my muffin wrapper and throwing it away.
"We should go, I'll grab your backpack for you." He says, I nod my head at him, following him out of the kitchen until a hand on my wrist stops me and spins me around.
But before I could react in any way, Mason quickly let's go and shoves his hands in his pockets, "I just wanted to apologize for being an idiot to you, I should have never approached you like that and I'm sorry."
I nod my head, "Don't worry about it..." I say hesitantly, not really knowing what to say about that.
I get that he's apologizing but...
I mean come on, he took idiotic to a whole another level.
"And I completely understand if you don't forgive me right away, it's okay. I owe you more than for just being mean to you." He says, turning around, but I stop him.
"What do you mean?"
He turns back around, "Luke. He's been the happiest I've ever seen him in a long time. You did that. I've been nothing but a horrible brother to him. Ever since a young age, he was different from us, and it made me treat him differently. Seeing him wanting different things in life, but being happy nonetheless made me think about myself, and how unhappy I am living. Luke might never forgive me, and I would never be upset at him for that, but I want to change, just like your mom did for you."
...
"You want to be his mom?! No offense but that's just... weird."
His eyes widen, "No! I-...." But he stops as soon as he sees me starting to laugh.
He eyes me for a second, before shaking his head and laughing a little also, "I can see why Luke likes you, you're perfect for him." He says, causing me to stop laughing.
"You think so?"
"Well, even though I never got the chance to really know him, someone who is able to affect someone that much must have an impact."
"You say this as if you know someone?" I raise my eyebrows, but he shrugs his shoulders.
"There's this girl in my business class."
"And....."
"And I'm not telling you anything about her, just that she joined the semester late about two days ago. She's nice I guess."
"You guess?"
"Yeah I... okay this is getting awkward, please leave."
I raise my hands up in surrender, "okay, jeez, sorry." I say, but before leaving, I look up at him... "Oh and about Luke, one day, he will forgive you. I have a gut feeling, just... try not to be a jerk... okay?" I say.
He nods his head, "Thanks."
"No problem, and about the girl, please, no pick up lines. She might slap you, and I will one hundred percent agree with her."
He laughs and scratches the back of his neck, "Understood."
I nod my head at him and turn around, walking down the hallway to see Luke tying his shoe laces, until he sees me and smiles, "What took you so long?"
I pause, "I may or may not have ate another muffin." I say, while slightly convincing myself that if Mason wants to be a better brother, he should do that on his own.
Maybe this was a new, better start for Luke. One step at a time, I feel like maybe someday his family will seem him for who he really is.
"Should have known, I knew I should have hid the box from you." He finishes tying his shoes and hands me my backpack as I slip on flip flops... because it involves less effort.
Yes it is indeed very pathetic, I know.
He starts to open the door, but the sound of loud footsteps on the stairs causes us to turn around and look at a frantic Mrs. Barrington, "Wait! I want a picture!!" She screeches, pulling out her phone, signaling us to move closer together.
We both look at each other as we awkwardly move closer together, him swinging an arm around me as we smile at the camera.
After being half blinded by the flashing light, she grins as she looks down at the picture, "You guys look so cute together." I hear her mumble, but I don't think Luke hears it as he swings open the door and walks out, leaving me to look at Mrs. Barrington as she gives me a small wave, but a sad smile, slightly looking at the place where Luke just stood.
"Bye Mrs. Barrington, have a good day." I say, walking out the door, but before I could close it, she speaks up.
"Bye Ella, and tell Luke I lov-.... tell Luke to have a good day too." She says, looking back down at the photo.
I nod my head, and close the door.
Like I said, things will get better, I guarantee.
Because When We Crashed my life didn't change...
Ours did.
THE END.
