《When We Crashed》My Big Fat Lie

Ella's pov:
"Okay, okay, let me get this straight, you and Luke.. almost kissed!!" Julie squeals jumping up and down on her bed.
"Not so loud!!" I shush her as she squeals again.
It's been a day since, well, you know, I confessed my feelings for Luke to Julie.
But I'm just telling her now that we...
Almost kissed.
Well, let me further explain.
When I told her that I liked him last night, I swear on my everything, I completely forgot about it.
I was too busy freaking out that I indeed had a crush on my best friend.
After hours upon hours of girl talk and hanging out, it wasn't until the last twenty minutes that it literally slapped me in the face.
Oh and yes, Julie already yelled at me for not telling her sooner.
But it's all good, the way back from hell wasn't as bad as I expected.
...Heh.
"I can't believe you forgot something that important." Julie laughs at me as I make a weird sound that sounded like a mix between a pout and grunt.
"Stop laughing..." I whine.
Julie just shakes her head and continues laughing to herself, but then, her eyes widen suddenly.
She runs to her dresser and picks up her phone, dialing a number.
"What are you doing-.."
"Hello?" A voice speaks over me from the other line of her phone.
"I won, I won!! Pay up loser!! Ella has a crush..." Julie sings into the phone.
I stare at her in horror, as I recognize who is on the other line.
"Get her on the phone now!!" Zander's voice booms out, Julie smirks as she hands her phone to me.
"Ella FREAKIN SANDERS!! You couldn't wait a DAY to admit that you liked him??! I just lost eighty bucks!"

"Actually it was about fifteen hours ago, you weren't even close!" Julie says doing some weird happy dance in front of me.
"Did.. did you guys.. BET on when I would confess my feelings towards Luke??" I question as both Julie and Zander fall silent.
There were a couple of seconds of silence until Julie speaks out, "Uh, maybe?" She mutters, twirling a loose strand of her hair around her finger while giving me an innocent grin.
"Don't take it too personally El, it was just a way for Julie to gain money for her broke ass-.."
"Hey! You're the one who came up with the bet Zander!"
"Because I thought that I would win for sure!!" I hear him yell over the phone which makes me hold the phone a little bit farther away from me.
You know, so Zander doesn't burst my ear drum in a matter of seconds.
"Hold on, did you guys know before hand I had a crush on Luke?"
This time, there was no silence after I said this, immediately they both said a "Yes" in sync.
"Ugh." I groan as I hear Zander let out a laugh, "You, my friend, are just like Julie."
"What is that supposed to mean?!" Julie argues.
"You guys are horrible at hiding your crushes."
"You know what?" Julie says walking towards me, "Bye Zander..."
"Julie, don't you dare-.." but before he could finish his sentence, Julie hits the end call button.
"I would just like to thank you for scoring me eighty dollars." Julie grins while I roll my eyes at her.
"What should I do?" I ask her sincerely.
Do I tell him that I have feelings for him...
Or should I just.. wait around to see what happens?

"I think you should tell him, he probably, most likely, feels the same way."
"Did you admit your feelings to Ashton as soon as-.."
"Uhm... not exactly..."
"Then maybe I should wait it out-.."
"No!" Julie says quickly out of nowhere, which almost causes me to fall backwards.
To play it safe, I take a seat on her bed, her following close behind me.
I then give her a confused look as to why she said no so quickly, she continues speaking, "It felt horrible knowing how I felt about Ashton and not telling him, I was so tempted, yet, I was afraid. Ella, do what I should have did, tell him, don't just sit around and question yourself and feel like you aren't good enough. If he really likes you back, he will say it." She smiles at me.
Even though I was scared, deep down, I felt like she was right.
I knew that if I didn't tell him, I would soon start to stress myself out.
If he didn't like me back, maybe we could just be friends and I wouldn't have to embarrass myself any further.
But if he did like me back...
Then maybe...
We could...
I don't know, be more than friends?
The thought causes butterflies in my stomach and I smile to myself.
"I take that as a yes." Julie smiles at me.
I nod my head at her, feeling confident in myself.
Julie picks up my phone and hands it to me.
I pull up my message app and hover my thumbs over the screen.
I look at Julie and she gives me a small nod as I start typing.
Hey Luke, I was wondering if you would like to meet up with me and Julie at the park tomorrow. Maybe around noon?
I couldn't help but bite my lip, a thing I do when I get-..
"Look at you getting all nervous." Julie laughs as I give her a side glare.
I lay down my phone on the bed, instead of just staring at it like typing bubbles would magically appear on the screen.
"I'm not nervous."
Lie.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Lie.
"Are you really sure?"
"Never been more sure in my life."
Big fat lie.
....
"Okay, fine! I'm a little nervous... happy?" I admit looking at her to see her grinning at me.
"Very." She says, I couldn't help but find myself laughing at her answer, but it quickly stopped when I heard the sound of a phone ding.
I look down at my phone to see it was from Luke.
Sure! Can't wait to see you E.
At first, I was confused by the text, he never calls me E, but that just makes me smile to myself.
Him and his obsession with calling me nicknames.
I feel Julie read the text over my shoulder.
Well, here goes nothing...
Tomorrow I am confessing my feelings towards Luke Barrington.
...
Holy crap.
