《When We Crashed》Understand

Luke's pov:

"You're leaving us again?" Ashton complains from the couch as I stand by his front door.

"Just for the day." I shrug my shoulders not understanding what the big deal was.

"Just for the day." Ashton mocks in a childish voice as he lays down, on his back, on his living room couch.

"Plus, aren't you suppose to be in, you know, college?"

"First of all, it didn't start yet, second, it's only a thirty minute drive." Ashton rolls his eyes, but I smirk.

"You just wanted to see Julie."

"Damn right asshole." He says, but his grin falters as Julie's head pops into view from the kitchen.

"Ashton Blake Rider what did I say about language in my presence?"

"But-.. but... it's my life style." Ashton whines.

"Your next life style will be single." She mutters walking towards us.

But not before Ashton shoots up from the couch, "No!!" He yells.

At this she laughs and changes the subject knowing Ashton will practically pass out if she pushes the conversation.

"Anyways," she sits on the couch next to Ashton as he throws his arm around her in a possessive matter.

"Ashton, does your mom even know you're here?"

At this, he freezes, "Oh sh-.." he pauses and looks at Julie, "shin, ow my shin." He says and awkwardly scratches the back of his neck.

"Nice save." I snicker while he glares.

"So," Julie says clapping her hands together, "where are you and Ella going?"

"How do you know I am going somewhere with Ella?"

"Because you're a stalker?"

"Ashton!! You can't say stuff like that!"

"What? It's true."

"You are being mean."

"It's tough love baby." He says and wraps his arms around her waist.

"You guys are such a couple." I say kinda disgusted.

But I mean, it could be worse.

Honestly, yes, Julie and Ashton are affectionate towards one another.

But me, Jake, and Damien got used to it.

But Zander... he is all for it. He is pretty much their number one fan.

Literally, one time Jake tried to dare Ashton that he couldn't kiss Julie for the rest of the week.

Yes of course Ashton flipped out, but Zander...

Let's just say Jake lost his dignity that day.

I wish I wasn't saying this... but Ashton and Julie's relationship, is what I crave most.

Every time I see them get affectionate towards one another, it causes a pit to grow in the bottom of my stomach.

I want to say I didn't think this, but at one point, I was jealous of Ashton.

He had what I wanted so badly, love.

And Julie is so perfect for him.

She doesn't bring out the bad side in him, instead she brings out the good.

She brings out the side that people don't tend to see, the soft side of Ashton, and the side that cares for others.

I'm just glad it wasn't a girl who brought out his bad side.

Yes, Ashton's bad side.

I found out weeks after he did this, but when Ashton and Julie had some fight before they started dating, Zander found Ashton drinking.

Reckless Ashton was never the fun Ashton to have around.

I hated the way that the people in our school thought of him as.

But.. some of the stuff they said about him was true.

Yes Ashton had gotten in some fights with people.

Yes Ashton has broke a couple laws.

Yes Ashton had a troubled past.

But Julie keeps him in check, heck, I think he started a record of not getting his ass dragged into the principals office that much when they started dating.

I wish I had that.

Someone who brought out the best in me.

Suddenly, the main door of the house that I am literally standing a good two feet away from slams open.

Then, a frantic shout is heard.

"What the heck Ashton??! I finally got rid of you and now you're back? You are suppose to be gone!!!" Alissa groans as she looks at her son.

"Someone's in trouble..." Julie draws out grinning at Ashton.

"You are suppose to be on my side!"

"I am on the side that bakes the best food, sorry babe." She laughs.

"But that's not fair!"

"Hah! Move over loser." Alissa says pushing Ashton to the side of the couch and wrapping an arm around Julie.

"You just can't accept the fact that the girl code is better than any stupid boy." Alissa smirks.

"But you're my mom!"

"And your point is?" Alissa says and high fives Julie.

"Great, my own mother is stealing my girlfriend, who's next? f*ckin Santa Claus?" Ashton mumbles walking into the kitchen.

As I watch the scene unfold in amusement, Alissa's head turns towards me.

"Ohh, someone's going on a date." She grins.

"I'm just-..."

"Spill the tea boy." She says and leans back on the couch.

"Luke has a crush!!" Ashton sings walking back into the living room with a pop in hand.

He sits on the ground in front of Julie.

"We are just friends!" I complain.

"Yeah, that's what Ashton said, boys are really dumb." Alissa says directing it to Julie.

"Hey!!" Ashton and I say at the same time while the girls just laugh.

"Why are you guys so convinced that I like Ella?" But at this, all three of them smirk.

"You'll see Luke, you'll see." Alissa says almost evilly, which causes a lump to grow in my throat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Finally you're here, I have been waiting for ages." Ella laughs as she hops in the passengers seat of my car.
"Sorry, I was a little busy."
Yeah, busy as in dealing with a Julie, an Alissa, and an Ashton.
"So what kind of yoga poses are we doing today? May I suggest one with food?" Ella grins which causes me to laugh.
"You read my mind Sanders." I say pulling up at a near by Taco Bell.
After we order through the drive through, I park the car and we start to eat.
"So, how have you been?" I ask her.
"Do you always have to ask that question? It's always the same." She half laughs.
"Yeah, but what kind of person would I be if I didn't ask." She just shrugs her shoulders and continues eating.
What I like about Ella is that, usually when I would take girls out, they would always tried to order things that were the least amount of calories, and would barley touch their food, even if it clearly showed that they were pretty much unhealthy.
They cared about their image and how people saw them, expensive cloths, makeup, but Ella isn't like that.
She couldn't care less of what people thought of her.
"No offense, but what is up with you and your obsession with dating like a million girls?" Ella asks.
This time, it was me who shrugs my shoulders, but I don't say anything as she continues.
"I mean, why not just wait until you meet, the one, you know?" Ella says.
But I start to feel uncomfortable with the conversation, almost upset.
"It's just nice to know that someone cares." I say more harsh than I intended too.
"But you do have people who care."
"That's not what I mean Ella."
"Okay, okay," she throws her hands up in the air in defense, "you're just my best friend, and I worry about you, and I don't want you to get hurt." She smiles.
"Thanks but I promise you I'm good, I don't understand why you, Julie, or even Ashton are worried."
"I know." She mutters, her smile faltering a little bit.
Sure I had past mistakes, like Samantha, but having someone special is important to me.
I'm sick and tired of watching people fall in love... without even trying.
I'm not just going to sit around and wait here like a sitting duck.
