《When We Crashed》Regrets

Luke's pov:

I strive to keep my head low as I walk out of the failed attempt of what was suppose to be a nice evening.

I wipe away the pizza sauce from the side of my face with the back of my sleeve and make my way to my car.

Somehow this always happens.

But this time, I didn't expect to get slapped on the side of the face with a slice of pizza.

Why you may ask?

Another girlfriend, another date, another fail.

When I get to my car, I slam the door closed and put my head in my hands.

God I'm such a screw up.

It's been almost two years now and every single girl I tried to impress either just walked away, wanted more, cheated, .. or now I guess physically hit me with a slice of pizza.

Just another one to add to the list.

I just want one, ONE girl who doesn't care so much about herself.

But that's kind of hard when you are the heir of a rich family.

Two stuck up parents and four snobby brothers, what could be worse?

I feel my phone going off in my pocket and I look at the caller ID to see it was Ashton.

I glance back up at Vicky, I guess my now Ex, storming out of the restaurant, her screeching heels making the agony of losing yet another date even worse.

I met her at a nightclub that Zander dragged me and Jake to.

I recall him saying, "It's time to bring back the old Zander dance style."

Let's just say that me and Jake stayed very.. very far from the dance floor that night.

Very far.

Very.

Far.

Looking back, when I first talked to her, she was hesitant.

But when I introduced myself as a Barrington, aka my curse of a last name, I should have known from the start she was just a money seeker.

I look back down at my phone and swipe to answer.

"Hey man what's up?" I hear a voice on the other side.

"It's going." I say in a low voice leaning back on my car seat.

"Let me guess, it didn't go so well?"

I knew I shouldn't have told him about yet another date.

"Try being slapped in the face with a slice of cheese pizza." I almost laugh at how pathetic my voice sounds.

"Maybe you should just.. take a break from dating." Ashton reasons, but I quickly dismiss the thought.

"You say that every single time."

"Yeah, and every single time you chose not to listen, I have to say it yet another time." He says in a gruff voice.

"Yeah well, at least you have a girlfriend, which by the way, how is Julie?" I ask trying to get rid of the original topic.

"No, we are not changing the topic here Mr. I am Luke Barrington and I don't listen to good advice." He says mockingly.

"Damn you."

"Language."

"Did you just language me Ashton?"

"Sorry, Julie gave me that annoying habit." He sighs.

Suddenly, I start too hear background noises on the phone.

"No Julie, baby, I'm on the phone."

"Did I say annoying? I meant.. I.. uh.."

"Yea it's him."

"No, we are having a man to man talk."

"Just wait."

"No get your own phone!"

Then, a loud WHACK was followed which made me jump in my seat.

"Luke how are you!" A cheerful voice says on the other side.

"Oh, uh hey Julie."

This time, I actually laugh when I hear a groaning noise in the background.

"So, how did your date go?" She questions and I instantly cringe at myself.

From my silence, I think she takes the hint.

"It's okay Luke, there are plenty of fish in the sea."

"Thanks Julie."

Another moving sound is made and by the sound on the other side, I can tell Ashton took back his phone.

"Wait!! No Gimme!!" Julie frantically shouts.

"Don't you have work in the morning?" Ashton says back.

"Mhhm. No......"

"Mhhm. Yes......"

"Ugh fine, but I'm stealing food from your kitchen."

"Didn't your own mother cook food at your own house?"

"But that's too far away."

"You live right next door."

"I have no idea what your talking about."

"You know what.. I better go." I say into the phone interrupting their conversation.

"Oh okay, well, be safe." Ashton says.

"Okay, tell Julie I said bye."

"Will do." He says, I hit the end call button and put my phone back in my pocket.

Guess it's time to make my way to hell.

Oh did I say hell?

Well, I meant it.

~~~~~~~~
I groan as I am yet again stopped by the traffic.
It's not like I'm even in a rush to get back...
My so called family probably doesn't even care if I even bother to show up.
I mean why would they?
With four 'perfect' sons, who cares about the fifth one who is sociably known as the 'badboy' and is not the perfect straight A student I am strongly encouraged to be.
I pull out my phone and punch in locations to another route.
I go off to the nearest exit and make my way down the road, turning up the volume on the radio just to drown my thoughts away from everything.
I'm just glad that it is summer and my junior year is finally over with.
I have to admit though, it's going to be strange entering my senior year without Jake, Ashton, or Zander, but at least I will have Damien and Julie there with me.
I shake the thoughts out of my head as I continue down the long road.
~~~~~~~~

It's official.

I am lost.

About a mile or two down the road, my phone died so I couldn't follow my map.

If I just would have stayed in that stupid highway, I could have avoided this mess all together.

I sigh out loud as I look at the Steak and Shake that I passed for now the sixtieth time.

I swear, all the roads just make one big loop, because I have gotten nowhere.

I almost want to stop and ask for directions but the restaurant looked empty and there isn't even another car in sight.

Great, aren't I just lucky?

I sink back in my seat while I drive ahead to a curve in the road.

As I gaze ahead ready to make the turn, I can't help but notice lights.

I almost wanted to cry out in relief when I hear the sound of another car.

I slow down a little, but the car keeps accelerating.

What are they doing?

I realize now that the car is driving unsteadily, I try to make a fast attempt to move my car, now seeing that I was so caught up in looking at it, that I was pretty much in the middle of the road.

But it was too late.

I heard the crash.

I smelt the blood.

But it wasn't from me.

At least, that's what I think.

I look over to see a girl in the drivers seat, blood was trickling down her face.

I try to make an attempt to get to her but when I went to move, a wave of pain hits me and I instantly look down at my leg to see it was smooshed between part of the car front and the car floor.

Not even a second later, another wave hits me and I feel myself pass out from the pain, my last sight being the mysterious girl in the other car.
