《Unexpected Roommates | Slashers x Reader》Chapter 13: Surprise Visit

Recap
"Poor kid, hey?" Danny sighs, appearing out of thin air. "He's so young to have already killed. I was twenty, which isn't a huge gap, but still..." he clicked his tongue, staring at the bathroom door as the shower started up. "Anyways. Just be careful around him, I can tell he's just like the rest of us."
Recap End
You nod your head. Danny pats you on the shoulder and strolls towards your office and your recording equipment. You head back downstairs to make something for breakfast, a simple homemade oatmeal recipe that was made surprisingly fast and was surprisingly delicious when paired with fresh fruit or brown sugar, Jason and Michael watching as you did.
"Have either of you seen Freddy yet?" you ask over your shoulder as you stir the pot of oats. Both boys shook their heads, and you let out a 'hm'. He must be in someone's dreams right now, if that was how all of that dream stuff worked. You should ask him about it. "So, what do you think of Freddy anyways? Norman, too. They're both generally new." you peer over your shoulder to see Jason shrug, Michael simply shaking his head in a sign of distrust towards Freddy, then nod in acceptance of Norman. "So, Michael, Jason... Can you guys talk? At all?" This time Jason shakes his head, but Michael nods hesitantly. "Well, I'm glad we can still find some way to communicate then. The notepad thing works well enough." You pull the oatmeal from the stove and begin to grab bowls from the cupboards, dishing everything up. "Hey everyone, breakfast!" you call out, knocking on the walls to get Brahms' attention as well. Seconds later, the room is flooding with oversized murderers grabbing their food then disappearing promptly afterwards, save for Danny, who slipped into the seat at the island to eat with you. He finished quickly and placed his bowl in the sink, taking the spare you had made for Norman and offering to bring it up to him. You nod, and Danny speeds off, eager to talk to Norman again and get to know him better.
You finish your food and place it in the dishwasher, moving Danny's from the sink to join yours when three sharp, loud knocks erupt from the front door and make you jump, almost dropping the bowl in your hand. You close the dishwasher and speed to the door, successfully tripping on nothing and stumbling the last few feet before catching yourself. You brush yourself off and grab the doorknob, twisting it and pulling it open with a little too much enthusiasm resulting from adrenaline brought on by your near-fall. It takes a moment for your mind to register the falsely bright eyes and plastic smiles, the graying hair that used to be identical to yours, and the stuffed suitcases on the steps behind the people at your door.
"(Y/N), honey, hi!" your father smiles somehow wider and you try not to cringe in fear and disgust.
"How are you, baby?" your mother's voice is high-pitched with forced delight. You force an equally-fake smile onto your face and gasp in 'delighted' astonishment.
"Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?" you force out through gritted teeth, your cheeks already hurting from your mock-ecstatic grin. Why had they just shown up? What the hell?
"Your father had some things he had to pick up from his office, some files he needed to bring to his new office in Hawaii, so we thought we might as well stop by here!" your mother let out raucous laughter and your father joined in. You chuckled along, not knowing the joke.

"We decided to stay here rather than in a motel. We have a whole three days with our little girl!" Dad held out his arms, wrapping you in a tight hug which you reluctantly returned. You didn't invite these people. This wasn't okay.
"That's... great!" you say through burning frustration.
"We can give you as long as you'd like to prepare your bedroom for us. It'll be weird sleeping in our old room again!" you knit your brows, letting them go slack as you pull away from your father with your same fake smile. Your room? You'd moved into their room when they'd left, and they seriously expected you to let them stay in it? "You can take one of the guest bedrooms, can't you?" you internally groan as your compliant instincts kick in and you nod.
"O-Of course, just take a seat on the couch and I'll be right down to carry up your bags." you motion to the couch and your parents barge past you, taking the lead. They make themselves at home quite quickly, grabbing the TV remote and flicking it on, propping their feet up on the table. You pause in the doorway, watching them for a moment but wishing you'd just left as your mother catches sight of the notebook you, Michael and Jason had communicated through.
"What's this, dear?" Mom asks with a tilt to her head, fake smile still standing strong as she flipped through the vague writing page after page. You need an excuse, shit!
"Oh, uh, just how I communicated with someone I was interviewing, someone mute." you say quickly then excuse yourself from the room in a flurry. You take the stairs two at a time, almost colliding with Michael as he moved to go downstairs with his empty bowl. "Michael, stop! My parents, they just... showed up, you have to stay in your room." you hiss, and Michael simply tilts his head. His free hand moves to his blade in a silent question, one at which you frantically shake your head. "No, no don't kill them! Just... stay in your room quietly, please. I'll take your bowl in a minute." Michael nods, turns around, and goes silently back to his room.
You, in turn, hurry to yours, moving as quickly as possible to shove your dirty clothes littering the floor into laundry baskets, any random stuff lying around into drawers or under the bed, and arranging the blankets and pillows to lay neat and tidy, set up the way your mother always forced you to do. You had to find Danny, Jason, Brahms, Freddy and Norman and deliver the news, hide them away in their rooms before they stumbled upon your parents. You sneak out into the hallway and towards Danny's room, cracking the door open. The window is ajar; he must be outside, already breaking his 'no leaving' rule. Shit. You shut the door and go to the next room after Michael's, cracking it open. Jason isn't there either. Next is Freddy, and thank god he's fast asleep on his bed, probably tormenting some poor kids in their respective dreams. You searched quickly for something to write on, finding another notepad. Your house seems to be a goldmine for notepads.
'My parents randomly showed up. Please stay in your room, hidden.' you leave the note on the bed right beside Freddy's head, then hurry to the next room, where Norman is. You tap lightly, and the door is opened seconds later by Norman and his trademark nervous smile.
"(Y/N), w-what's up?" he asks, opening the door the rest of the way.

"My parents randomly showed up, I think they're staying here for a few days. You have to stay hidden until they're gone." Norman immediately nods his head in understanding.
"I-I can do t-that." he promises. You smile and thank him, and he shuts the door. You just need to find Danny and Jason.
You were mid stride, headed towards your office when your mother called you from downstairs. You sigh, turning around and rushing to appease her. Danny and Jason were smart, they knew not to be seen, right? What if they didn't even know your parents were even here, and they came into the house without realizing? That was something you couldn't stop as of now, so you decided to focus on the current issue; your parents. You hurried back into the living room to see what was up.
"Dear, are you going to offer us breakfast anytime soon?" your father crossed his arms, his fake smile faltering slightly, showing how he really was only putting up with you to have a free place to stay.
"I, uh, actually already ate, but there's some leftovers. It's oatmeal." your mother's face scrunches up in disgust and she shakes her head no.
"I'd rather starve myself," she mumbles just loud enough for you to hear. Ungrateful bitch. Just to make everything somehow worse, a voice drifts down the stairs, Danny's voice.
"Sweetheart, where are the batteries?" he shouted through the house and you shrunk into yourself, cursing under your breath. Your parents' faces relax and morph into those of curiosity and intrigue.
"Sweetheart?" your mother purrs, batting her eyelashes, "Did you find yourself a little boyfriend?"
Your face went beet red, amplified by the sound of Danny's footsteps descending down the stairs.
"Your microphone died and-" he steps into the room, then freezes completely at the sight of your parents. "O-Oh, you have guests-"
"D, these are my parents." you say slowly, pronouncing each word carefully so he got the idea and remembered the stories you'd told him about them.
"H-Hi, I'm Danny." he says, his nervousness leaving as his quick tongue and good lying skills kick in.
"Are you our sweet (Y/N)'s boyfriend?" Dad stands, holding out a hand. Danny takes it, throwing a quick glance to you before nodding his head.
"Yeah, I am. She's told me a little bit about you guys. How's Hawaii?" you could basically see the passive-aggressive energy your father and Danny suddenly share. Your father tries not to scowl, you can tell, covering up his emotions with yet another plastic smile.
"Warm, nice. Better than here." your father said flatly, sitting back down on the sofa. While he didn't seem too fond of Danny and his passive aggression, your mother oozed attraction, which wasn't exactly a surprise. Danny was exactly her type; average height, slim build, dark hair... exactly what she would look for in an ideal man, whether she was married or not.
"So, Danny, how'd you two meet? It's only been a few days since we left, and I haven't seen you around before." your mother rested her chin on her hand, her other arm slung over her knees. The tilt of her head and the part of her lips would usually seduce any man, but Danny wasn't stupid.
"A wrong number. I called her by accident, it led to some chit chat, text messages and we ended up hanging out and... clicking." Danny sauntered over to you, wrapping an arm around your waist. You couldn't speak; you were trying not to blush like an idiot.
"And what is it you like about her?" Dad asked, crossing his arms and leaning back into the couch.
"She's... strong. Resilient, and she doesn't take shit from anyone." more passive aggression. Danny was subtly pointing out that he knew what they'd done to you, how they'd treated you, and the looks on your parents faces were priceless. Your mother looked mortified, embarrassed to hell and back, and your father was mildly disgusted, annoyed.
"Danny, the batteries are in the kitchen. Come on, I'll show you." you shake his hand from your waist, noticing the odd glance your father gives you at your actions. To avoid suspicion you grab Danny's hand, intertwining your fingers and blushing intensely at the smirk he throws you. You rapidly lead him out of the room to the kitchen, then collapse in a heap on the island chairs, head in your hands.
"Why boyfriend? Why? Why not a roommate or coworker here for a quick visit?" you hiss out, running a hand through your hair. "Jesus, Danny, I-"
"Do you see how your parents are looking at you?" Danny cut in, pulling out the drawer with the batteries. He didn't look at you as he continued. "They're looking at you like you're a failure, and I wanted to be able to stick around with an excuse for my nosiness. If I'm just a roommate I wouldn't matter to your parents, but a boyfriend they'll want to get to know." he places the batteries on the counter, then turns his intense golden gaze to you as he steps around the island. Now, he's standing directly in front of you, moving a hand to rest on your cheek. "I'm not letting them treat you poorly, okay? Not once. I'll go find Jason, too, since you already spoke to everyone else." You feel your eyes almost tear up, and you smile sweetly, nodding. He smiles back, a toothy grin, and says, "That's the smile I like to see, Honey." he places a kiss on your forehead, then hurries towards the back door. You're left smiling for a moment, before you stand up and move swiftly back to the living room.
"Alright, now that Danny's dealt with I'll take your bags upstairs to your room, okay?" you smile more genuinely, still riding off the happiness from your conversation with Danny as you grab your parents bags and juggle them up the stairs, your parents close behind. You trust the slashers to stay silent, and thank god, they do. You push open the door to your room, setting the bags at the foot of the bed. Your mother shoved past you to sit on the edge of the bed, hooking one leg over the other with her hands on her knees.
"So, your Danny is quite the catch, isn't he?" your mother purrs, a mischievous glint in her eye.
"Yeah, I guess so." you say simply, a tight smile webbing it's way onto your face.
"Well, we'll be lounging here for a little while then heading over to my workplace to pick up the required files. Keep it down, out there, we don't like to be disturbed when we're busy, as you know." Your father crossed his arms, a scowl on his face. You knew that 'lounging around' probably meant doing some sort of dangerous drug, and you were more than happy to leave your parents to do whatever they pleased so long as it didn't include you.
"Alright, I'll see you guys later." you grumble with a scowl of your own. Your father raises his eyebrow and tilts his head in a silent threat.
"You know how much I dislike that face, (Y/N)." you just nod, letting your face soften into an emotionless expression, the only one you ever used around your parents before they left.
"Yes sir." you sigh, spinning on your heel and exiting the room, shutting the door behind you. You could already tell this would be a long three days.
