1. Do not waste oxygen. In a classic coffin there is about an hour's worth of air supply, maximum two. Inhale deeply, exhale slowly. When you inhale, do not swallow, because it causes hyperventilation. Do not light a match or a lighter, it takes oxygen, but it is not forbidden to use a flashlight. Do not scream: screaming intensifies your panic, which quickens the heartbeat and your breathing, and hence the air consumption.
2. Try loosen up the lid with your hands; in the cheapest coffins made of fiberboard you can even make a hole (with a wedding ring, or a belt buckle ...)
3. Cross your arms over your chest by grabbing your shoulders, pull your shirt up and tie it with a knot over your head; by hanging like a bag over your head, it will protect you from choking when the soil gets inside the coffin.
