As I stood beside Ragnar and his family on the docks, the sad, anxious feeling began to increase within me. Aslaug and Ragnar had taken me in when I was a child after my father, a close friend of theirs, died in battle. They raised me well, his sons becoming close friends of mine, almost like younger brothers. I remembered most of my childhood here rather than with my actual father. However, that didn’t mean I had escaped from arranged marriages. My father had left me his riches, seeing as I was his only heir, making me more ‘desirable’ to men wanting power. And one man had finally taken the chance to have my hand in marriage.
“Deep breaths (Y/N), I promise that you will be happy and safe with this man.” Alsaug laid a hand on my shoulder.
“I’m trying. It’s just….it’s just so scary.” I admitted, looking up at her.
Her face twisted in sadness.“I’m sorry you could not choose your fate.”
“(Y/N), Halfdan is a good man. Mother tells the truth.” Ubbe comforted me.
Sighing, I looked back out to the see, shocked that they were already docking. Was time moving faster than normal? My heart started to beat faster and faster until I was sure that it would burst out of my chest. As soon as I had heard that Ragnar agreed to this marriage proposal, every night I had prayed to the gods that this man would be kind to me. There had been so many stories of young women such as myself being trapped in awful marriage, abused daily. It frightened me, I’d rather go into battle.
Two men stepped off the boat first, before others followed them. These just have been them. King Harald and his brother. I could tell because of how fine their clothes were. The man with long, dark hair in a plait approached Ragnar.
“Ragnar Lothbrok, it has been far too long.” he chuckled as they embraced before nodding to his wife.“Alsaug, looking beautiful as ever. And my, how your sons have grown.”
I tried to stay respectful but I couldn’t help my eyes wandering over to my soon to be husband. Just by looking at him I could see why people thought he was scary. His eyes were cold, there was no expression on his face; he was also very tall and well built, it was easy to see how intimidating he was.

“(Y/N) (Y/L/N), it is a pleasure to finally meet you.” Harald stood in front of me, bowing slightly.
“The pleasure is all mine.” I curtsied, trying to give my best smile.
“This is my brother Halfdan. I’m sure you two will get on well.”
We said nothing to each other, only bowing out of respect. After that I didn’t look at him. My hands started shaking, my breath becoming uneven. Who was I marrying? How was I going to get through this?
Later that evening, a feast was held in honour of the New arrivals. The only time I had seen the brothers was at the beginning of the feast, when the speech was made about our engagement. I felt a relief as he walked away, ignored me. Escaping from Aslaug, I found (Y/F/N), hugging her tightly. Suddenly I broke down, desperately trying not to cry.
“How are you feeling?” She asked as we sat down, pouring me a big cup of ale.
“Awful.” I simply answered.
“I can’t believe they are making you marry him. I’ve heard some terrible things about him.”
“Like what?”
“Like how he is a ruthless killer, he has no emotions, how violent he is…” her words trailed off as he saw my horrified face.
“I’m marrying a monster.” My head dropped into my hands.
“Perhaps he is not so bad. They may just be rumours from people that fear him.”
“Everyone fears him! Why would they marry me with him?”
“They care for you, they wouldn’t leave you with a man who would hurt you, Aslaug would never allow that.”
“Power overthrows emotions.”
The night dragged on and I did everything to avoid Halfdan. It wasn’t as if he was coming after me, but I didn’t want to be near him. For a moment, I was sat by myself, my mind clouded by what the future would hold. Glancing to the door, I thought about escaping, maybe I could hide in the hunting cabin.
“(Y/N), may I sit with you?” Harald suddenly appeared.
I nodded, the nerves creeping back up.
“You have not spoken to my brother since we arrived.”
“I just haven’t found the time.” I lied.
“No, you are scared.”
“I do not mean to offend either of you. I have heard….things.”
“About how fierce my brother is during battle?”
“Something like that.”
“My brother is not a bad man. When he has killed, it is for a good reason.”
He was trying to make me see differently.“Even if he wasn’t like that, I would still be upset.”

“Why?”
I didn’t want to get on the wrong side of the king but I couldn’t help scoff.“Because I’m being married off to a stranger.”
He leaned in closer, intimidating me.“It is not just you that is being forced into this. My brother was reluctant too. So not act like the victim. But believe me when I say that you will be safe with my brother.”

The wedding day came quickly. Aslaug had helped me prepare, her motherly side coming out as she tried to keep me calm. Whenever she looked to me, the fake smile came out, a part of me knew that she didn’t believe me. As we made our way to where the ceremony was taking place, I felt like I was going to be sick. I just hoped that I wouldn’t do it in front of everyone.
The ceremony was a blur. This would be the second time Halfdan and I spoke to each other and they were our vows. A chaste kiss was shared between us, the eruption of cheers making me jump. At least someone was happy today.
A feast was held again that night. Everyone else but Halfdan and I seemed to be having a good time. We sat next to each other amongst his brother and my second family, still no conversation being passed between us. Nibbling on bits of food, I drank more than I ate, knowing that I would have to be very, very drunk to survive the night. I saw one of my friends waving me over, wanting to dance.
As I went to stand up, Halfdan grabbed skirts and pulled me roughly down into my seat. He looked over to me.“No. You stay here.”
His hand was still gripping my skirts.“Why? I want to be with my friends.”
“Because I am your husband and I said so.”
I glared at him, the alcohol giving me a slight confidence boost.“I want to dance with my friends.”
“Too many men have been watching you, I don’t want you out of my sight.”
I huffed, sitting back in my chair. Grabbing a jug of ale, I poured another huge cup to myself, chugging most of it back. I could feel my husband watching me but I couldn’t care less. Carrying on drinking, angled myself away from him, forgetting everything Aslaug had taught me about being a lady.
Ragnar suddenly stood, grabbing the attention of everyone in the room.“I think it is time for the husband and wife to share their first night together.”
The noise escalated again, making me wince. Halfdan stood, holding a hand out to me. I looked to Aslaug, seeing that she looked guilty. Trying not to burst into tears, I took my new husband’s hand, trailing behind him slightly as we walked through the crowds. Halfdan received pats on the backm, the men roaring as encouragement. The harsh breeze of the night was a horrible contrast to the warmth of the hall. He kept a hold of my hand, though not in a tenderly way; as if I would run off, which I probably would.
I walked into the house first as he opened the door for me. There was no escaping now. Sighing, I took off my cloak, expecting him to grab me and drag me to the bed. Instead, nothing happened and out of my peripheral vision, I saw him starting up the fire.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“What does it look like I am doing?” he stood up again, dragging a chair over to the fire.
“Don’t you want to get this over with?” I stumbled towards him.
“I prefer to not force myself on free women.”
“Only slaves then?”
His eyes narrowed at me.“Besides, you are in no fit state to bed.”
“I did this for both of us. I made it easier.”
“Is that right?”
“Well, if we aren’t doing anything, I’m going back to the hall.”
As I went to turn around, Halfdan slowly got out of the chair, not needing to rush due to my drunk state. He leaned back against the door, watching as I struggled to walk straight.
“Let me past please.”
“The only place you’re going is to bed.”
“I thought you didn’t want to bed me.”
“I don’t. But there’s no way you’re going out there and embarrassing me.”
I said nothing to him, knowing I wouldn’t win this. Instead, I sulked away, disappearing into the bedroom. Before closing the door, I heard a smash and a grunt, almost making me scream. He had spared me tonight, but how many other nights would I be left alone? As I slid into bed, all of my emotions took over. This wasn’t the life I wanted, this wasn’t the life I deserved.
But now I was stuck in it.

Dungeon's Path
The only places I have posted the story and allow it to exist are on RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, and my Patreon. So the world ended. Whoopsie? We didn’t even see it coming. Quite literally as it came at us faster than the speed of light. Don’t worry though, it got better. Also, I am not joking about the world ending. Most people say that and mean humans are inconvenienced for some reason. Nope, all matter disintegrated at the atomic scale there for a few moments. Apparently the local universe wasn’t actually stable? Don’t ask me to go into too much detail. It would require both of us to have a few more college degrees than sense, and I at least lack them (both the degrees and the sense). Anyway, the energy/matter/wibbly wobbly strings were at a local minimum and not the universal minimum. Basically, what we took for sea level was actually a nice little mountain lake and when the dam busted so did, well, everything. Now here is where things go a bit off track with what normal meant before. You see magic is real, qi is real, gods are real. Not on old Earth mind you but souls pay little attention to time and space so we dreamed of it. In fact, the closer the shift in reality got to Earth, the closer our dreams got to the new reality. This is basically me tip toeing around the fact that it was a ‘System Apocalypse’. Reality became a video game, I became a dungeon, and this is my story. Doyle Huxley just wanted a normal life but as the above might clue you in on that just isn’t in the cards. He gets to experience a “Path Based System Apocalypse” and some early paths he takes, both literally and figuratively, lead to him becoming a dungeon. The aim is to release chapters once a week on Friday. Cursing will be avoided and no naughty adult action will take place in the story.

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have. Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!

This is the story of Princess Jodha of Amber and her husband, the Emperor of Hindustan, Jalal-uddin Muhammad Akbar.~A LITTLE BACKDROP TO THE HISTORICAL ACCURACY OF THE STORY:*This story is fictional. Emperor Akbar did rule India from 1556 to 1605 but he did never marry a woman named Jodha. His first Rajput wife and mother of his heir was Harkha Bai from Amber. In eighteenth century, a British official messed her name up when he first mentioned her as Jodha and then the name became even more popular because of mainstream media. This story does not intend to hurt any religious sentiments, it uses the name Jodha however because common people today know of Emperor Akbar's chief Rajput wife as Jodha Bai*Highest Ranking#1 in Jodha - August 6, '21#1 in Akbar - October 16, '21#1 in 16th - October 16, '21#1 in Jalal - November 14, '21#1 in Mughal - November 14, '21#2 in India - November 14, '21#1 in Princess - December 17, '21#1 in Historical Fiction - December 22, '21#4 in Century - January 5, '22#1 in Empress - May 17, '22
