The kiss prompt I chose is 29: Staring at each other's lips for a moment before moving closer, as if drawn together by some unseen force.
Warnings: mentions of brittle bone disease, limited research (I am not an expert in describing the job of a nure nor OI), mentions of sex, mentions of insecurity
You had met Ivar at work.
You were a nurse at a cardiologist office, and you loved your work and the patients that came by.
When Ivar had called to make an appointment you had answered the phone, and his deep and soothing voice had mesmerized you even over the phone.
He had explained his condition, and that his doctor had asked him to make a checkup at a cardiologist office since osteogenesis imperfecta could be linked to cardiovascular abnormalties and the last time his heart had been checked out was when he had been a small child.
Which was why he scheduled an echorcardiography, and you made out a date, though you felt entirely bad that you were so attracted to his voice.
He was going to be your patient, and being interested or attracted to him would be an absolute taboo.
Nevertheless when the day came Ivar Lothbrok had his appointment you payed extra mind on your appearance, and you were nervous without reason.
There was no way a simple phone call could suffice to make you attracted to a person, but you thought about him quite often, and you explained to yourself that the lack of sleep you had had over the night was partly your insomnia, but your wandering mind as well.
When you went into the waiting room to escort him to where the echocardiography would take place you were entirely taken aback by his physique as well.
He was tall, with broad shoulders, a very defined and unique face, and his icy blue eyes were so mesmerizing it was easy to get lost in them.
You almost did get lost in them, before you collected yourself and smiled at him, a smile you shot all your patients as a way to reassure them.
"Mr. Lothbrok, would you follow me please?", you asked him and he did so immediately.
You could feel his eyes on you, and it scared and excited you at the same time.
He was beautiful, and even though you shouldn't think so you were already looking forward to see him without a shirt on later.
His shoulders and upper body were so broad and looked so strong that you knew he worked out regularly to gain such a good shape.
Reaching the room he was given you asked him to sit down, closing the door behind you as he did so.
When you turned back towards him he had taken a seat on the examining table, his crutches leaned against one side of it.
You blushed immediately as you saw him looking at you, his eyes gently tracing your curves before he realized you were watching him.
His eyes came back to your face, that certainly wasn't as red as your hair was, but it was definitely recognizably red.
It took you a minute before you could shake off your insecurities and awkwardness before you replaced it with your confident and sincere smile as you walked towards him.

"Hi, I'm Cat. I'll be preparing you for the echocardiography today", you said softly as you reached his side and he nodded.
He was watching you silently, he seemed to be used to hospital visits but reluctant, or maybe insecure.
"Would you please take off your shirt?", you asked softly and his eyes shot up to yours, a small smirk shooting onto his face before he nodded.
He was wearing a longsleeve shirt he just causally pulled up, and you watched him as he did so.
As soon as you realized you were staring you moved towards one of the tables to ready the electrodes and wires you would have to attach onto his chest.
Turning around you caught him staring again, and you smiled at him.
"Would you lay down please? I'll have to attach these to your chest area, it's just some adhesive patches and wires connected to them to monitor your heartbeat", you said as you moved towards him.
He did as you had asked and you looked down at him.
"Are you okay with that? It's just those patches and later the doctor will use a transducer that sends ultrasound waves that will be interpreted by this computer here into a picture", you explained and you saw Ivar nodding softly.
You tried desperately not to pay his muscles too much mind, and you succeeded, focusing on your task, and the comfort of your patient.
Nevertheless there were times when you grew red in the face while looking at him, and you could see the edges of his mouth tugging upwards as if he was suppressing a smile.
He didn't talk much, but he seemed more comfortable now that you had talked to him a bit.
You were ready to leave the room and for the doctor to enter when you heard his voice again, sending a shiver down your spine.
"Wait... can I have your number?", he asked and you turned around to face him.
It was certainly a taboo question, but you had to smile at him.
You nodded softly, and he reached inside his jeans pocked for his phone, stretching it out towards you.
You reached for it and put your number in it, giving it back to him afterwards.
"I'll call you", he said and you nodded with a smile before walking out of the room.
Closing the door behind you you had to close your eyes for a few seconds.
You didn't know him at all and he hadn't said much, but he had asked you out.
Well no, he had only asked for your number, so was it even going to be a date?
You hadn't done anything wrong, and so you continued your work.
It took days before you had an unknown number call your cell, and you picked up reluctantly.
"Hello?", you asked softly, and you heard someone clear their throat at the other end of the line.
"Cat? Hi, it's Ivar... Ivar Lothbrok? You know, one of the guys you prepared for an echocardiogram?", he asked and you had to grin at the fact that he felt the need to explain who he was again.
"Hi Ivar", you answered him and you immediately felt less awkward, knowing that he did as well when you knew who he was.

"Yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime? For a drink, or a coffee maybe?", he asked and you smiled widely.
Nodding you realized that he couldn't see you, so you answered him.
"Yeah, I'd love that. Maybe a coffe though, in a work break, my day's usually kind of exhausting", you answered and he chuckled.
"Yeah, perfect. Tomorrow, then? Or just whenever. When are you free?", he asked, and his voice again almost sent shivers down your spine.
His voice was so smooth and deep he could have worked as a phone sex operator and you wouldn't have been surprised.
You settled a date with him and he said he would come to your workplace to pick you up.
Even though you worried that it was a small walk from your work to the next coffee shop and you didn't want him to walk too long with his crutches you didn't say anything, because it wasn't in your place to do so.
The next day at lunch break you saw Ivar waiting outside for you and you walked up to him.
You could feel his eyes on you and you couldn't keep your eyes off of him, but neither of you were staring in a sexual or uncomfortable way, it was more of a mutual appreciation and longing to get to know each other better.
When you reached the coffee shop you ordered you coffee and began talking.
It was amazing how well you got along, even though you had dated a few times already you hadn't met even one guy that you agreed with on this level, and you were so grateful that he had asked for your number, even if he was a patient of yours.
Ivar seemed insecure at first but after a while in which you talked about your hobbies and interests he seemed to lower his guard, cracking a smile and talking to you as much as you were talking to him.
It was amazing that you shared a love for reading and cooking, and even shared a few of your favorite books.
Because it just seemed too good to be true you quoted some of the books you both loved and Ivar answered with another quote from the same book, grinning at you and proving that he was neither kidding nor bullshitting you.
The connection you had grew stronger then and you couldn't help but stare at each other.
You were absolutely perfect to him and he seemed to be too good to be true for you, but at the end of your talk he became more reluctant.
When you addressed it he sent a small sad smile your way.
"I'm not exactly the kind of boyfriend you'd want to have", he said and you frowned at his honesty, and his assumption.
"Why?", you asked him, and he looked at you as if you couldn't be serious.
"Why?", he repeated with furrowed eyebrows before he decided to answer your question honestly.
"Because I've got a lot on my plate", he said before nodding towards the crutches that were leaning against his chair.
"I'm on crutches, I'm sick, and am a lot of work even on my good days. And I'm not experienced in being a boyfriend to begin with", he explained and you nodded softly.
You didn't say anything as he payed for you coffee or before you stood outside, which was when you turned to face him.
"Listen, Ivar...", you began and you saw how steely his face became, blank and waiting for the rejection he was expecting to receive.
"I don't care what you say. I like you... a lot... and you're just like everyone else, dating is an all or nothing thing. Either you want all of me, or nothing. So... I'm ready to get to know you, and I mean all of you. And if you want to get to know me more then I'd love that", you said and Ivar just stood there, staring at you in awe.
"And I mean you're amazing", you went on and you saw him become even more in awe of you.
"From what I noticed you're incredibly smart, you look at me as if I'm the only person on this earth and we love the same things. I don't want to pressure you into anything, I just wanted to tell you what I think", you said and a small smile appeared on his face.
"No, it's fine ", he said and he moved on his crutches a bit.
Just as you were about to ask if he wanted to sit back down again he continued.
"You're beautiful", he said and you blushed again before he went on talking.
"That's the first thing I noticed. And you're so outgoing and welcoming, which is amazing", he said and you smiled widely at him.
"We have the same interests, which is amazing, and you honestly bring out the best in me", he explained and you chuckled at that.
"No, I mean it. I'm not exactly... usually kind to people. But with you I don't feel the need to defend myself, I guess", he made sure you understood and you were taken aback by his honesty.
"So I think... I think we'd be amazing together", he added and you nodded enthusiastically.
After a small while of silence the both of you stepped forward simultaneously, so that you were much closer than before.
He was much taller than you, but you even enjoyed the height difference.
You were looking at each other after honestly saying what you thought about one another, and how attracted you were to each other, and you were caught in a gaze that showed exactly how amazed the two of you were.
The smile and look you shared turned into more as your eyes fell down to each other's lips, before leaning in.
While Ivar bowed his head down you reached up for his face, setting a hand on the side of it as you pulled him closer while getting onto the balls of your feet to reach him better.
When your lips connected your eyeslids fluttered before closing shut and you smiled into the kiss.
It was so soft and caring and full of admiration, and at the same time hopeful but without pressure.
And from just this you knew that you would spend most of the future that would be given to you together.
