"This would be 10 times worse. I can't. I renounce my promise to kill Lagertha. She can have Kattegat. I don't want it." Ivar started to walk away but Grace walked up to him quick. He put an arm around her shoulder to steady himself as he stood before Ubbe.
"Ubbe, you're right. We are all the sons and daughter of Ragnar. Forgive me." As they settled back to the conversation. Some people had brought out some drinks. She stood next to Ivar with a hand on his arm. "Skol." They all said lifting their cups.
Harald pours his out and she gives a look of confusion and lowers her cup. Next to her Ivar looks toward Ubbe and splashes his drink onto him. A little of it had gotten onto Grace as she jumped back.
"How blue are my eyes, huh?" "Your eyes are very blue." Grace had sunk away toward Lagertha who placed herself subconsciously in front of the girl. "You remember I had to ask you every single morning how blue the whites of my eyes were? Because if they were very blue, I was in danger of breaking a bone."
"Yes, I remember. It was a big part of my childhood, 'how blue are Ivar's eyes today?'"
"I might break a bone, but I never break a promise. I can never forgive Lagertha for murdering our mother. How can you." Grace sunk into herself as she was uncomfortable with him yelling. She wished her mother was here so this would not have happened.
When Ivar pushed Ubbe she moved forward as Bjorn stood. She walked past and to Ubbe and put a hand on his arm.
"Our mother! Of course I'm going to kill her!" "You can try." "Oh, I will." Grace held her head eye as she removed her hand. "You said you wouldn't fight you're brothers and sister." "You are no longer my brother or my sister." Ivar said looking straight into Graces eyes.

Grace felt her face betray her as she felt her eyes water. Lagertha moved her hand toward Grace when Grace turned around. Grace noticed and made her way to Lagertha. Lagertha patted her head and Grace stood behind her so if she cried it would not be seen.
"You were once my legs. But not anymore." Ubbe threw the cup and made his way to Grace. "This was all a waste of time." "No. Not at all. You can surrender Kattegat now." Ubbe took Grace into a side hug as he walked but soon was still.
"You've all been talking about how terrible the slaughter will be. How we will kill our nearest relations and members of our family. I don't want to do it. Let us not do it." Bjorn made eye contact with Graces mournful face.
"You. Bjorn. Grace. Lagertha. Just go away. Leave this place. Do not put your men to the test." Ubbe nodded to Grace and she let him go as they all but her pulled out their swords. She thought this was a bad time to forget her sword but she had.
Lagertha stopped Ubbe from going further as Grace stood next to her. "Not now." They all turned to walk away and Ubbe took her in a side hug again. "You're sure. Are you going to deny your brother?"
Grace had turned toward the words as she left Ubbes arms. "Bjorn saved my life." Harald turned then punched Halfdan. Grace quickly sprinted over and Halfdan held up his hand so she stood still.
"You know I'll kill you. You understand that? I will kill you." As the all turned to leave yet again Grace waited for Halfdan to join her. She held out her hand and he took it with a weak smile. Lagertha waited as well and patted Halfdan on the shoulder.

After fighting a diseased ancient silver dragon, Oskar must solve a mystery that leads him halfway across the world in pursuit of answers. This story is based on a character from a tabletop roleplaying game. I realized that I'd spent quite a lot of time planning out his backstory, and decided to go ahead and write some of it down. Then I wrote more, and more, and realized that I had a lot more than any sane RPG player should write about their character...
