《VIKING PRINCESS》Chapter Twenty-Seven

Grace had woken to a voice above her face. "Get up!" Followed by a thud she opened her eyes quick. She looked to see her brother Ubbe massaging his head while Lagertha stood behind him.
"Sorry about him." Lagertha said as Ubbe rolled his eyes and Grace sat up. "I'm used to it. All of them do that to me." Lagertha shakes her head and sits on the bed. She took Graces hands in hers with a soft smile.
"Shall you get dressed and have some breakfast." She tells Grace as she nods and removes her hands. They leave her with her thoughts and to get dressed.
She thinks if she should have stayed with Hvitserk or left with Ubbe. She certainly missed her brothers but she couldn't shake the feeling that she was wrong.
She brushed through her hair and sat up. She missed her mother more in the morning. Due to the facts she would always do her hair in difficult designs.
She wore a dress of her mother's favorite color and opened the door. She found Ubbe leaned on the wall with his eyes closed. He turned to her as he heard the door open.
"I know that you think you were wrong for coming with me. But dear sister know I will protect you better than they can. We shall stick together." She smiles as he pulls her in for a hug.
She finally felt safe, well she had felt safe with Hvitserk, and most times with Ivar. But she felt most safe with her older brother.
He taught her to fight and fend for herself. He protected her in war and never left her side when she was ill. She couldn't hope for anything by more than to be with him.

He held his arm around her shoulders as they walked to the table. She sat across from Lagertha at a round table and next to Ubbe. "Ubbe told me this was your favorite."
She looked down and smiled to see a bowl of porridge. "My mother would always make this when I felt sick." She said quickly but soon shut her mother looking up at Lagertha.
"It's okay to talk about your mother. I am in no way replacing her for you. But I know she met a lot to you as your brothers." Grace gave her admiring smile and dig into her food.
She missed the soft smile that graced Lagerthas face as she watched the girl. Lagertha just wanted Grace to feel welcome and at home. She may have not seen eye to eye about Aslaug but she knew Grace cared a lot for her.

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.

The Angle of Death and other Mathemagical Hazards
A series of tangentially interconnected vignettes featuring typos and puns used as if they were intentional, mostly in a tongue-in-check fashion. Just a fast funny set of quirky mini-tales. Warning. Readers will be pun-ished. Thoroughly. Also may involve math, science, grammar, irrational, whole, imaginary, and other scary words. Reader indiscretion is advised.

The Adventurer's Guild(master)
In a world of adventure, magic, and kingdoms, only one man can keep it all from falling apart. As much as he wished that wasn't the case. This is the story of the man who became the guild master of the most prestigious adventurer's guild in the kingdom, and then came to completely regret that decision, as he is forced to keep the peace, file paperwork, and babysit adventurers. The life of a guild master is not as great as it once seemed. Note: The prologue is an extended -probably should have not took it that far- joke and is completely skippable from the rest of the series. This is my first work on this website, or on any website to be honest, so criticism is more than welcome. Feel free to leave comments on any chapter, not just the latest one.
