《Breathe Princess (Daryl Dixon Love Story)》Chapter One

There are very few things in the world people want. Some want money, some want fame, me? I just wanted to be healthy. My issue was, I had a few health issues, not to mention the fact that there was no way that I was built to cope in a world that involved zombies or the undead, which was exactly the world I was currently being forced to live in.
One good thing however that I could see in all this was that I was small so it was easy for me to climb into those little places, to hide from both living and dead. I could cram myself into cupboards and things, hoping it would hide me long enough until they found me again.
That was exactly what happened at that second. I was hiding in a pharmacy, sitting behind the counter with my bag in front of me and my knife held tight in my hands, something that I did pretty much every day. Banging on the outside of the window had woken me and alerted me to the fact that I'd been found and that I needed to move on. I sighed and got up off the floor, making my way towards the back stockroom and threw any kind of medication I could find into my bag and then slung it onto my back, grabbing my knife again and attempted to make it out the back way.
There were several things that had hit me at that minute, one of them was where the hell all the undead were. Usually there would be a few strays in the back alleys, the main road always overrun, but now, there were none in that alley, none that I could see anyway. I could hear the snarling coming from the road and then, a voice, talking into what could quite possibly have been a radio. I was curious, which never really got me anywhere good, but none the less, I followed the voice and peered around a corner, seeing an asian boy with a baseball cap and a light coloured shirt hiding behind one of the fences.

"Aren't you listening? Just go." He spat into what appeared to be a hand held radio. At that second, there was a loud clanging sound before a man in a sheriff's uniform appeared from the top of what appeared to be a tank, firing off a few shots from his revolver before running towards the asian, although he'd spotted me first.
"You coming?" He shouted at me, although it was more in authority than annoyance.
I was uncertain, I'd never even met this guy before but something about him, maybe the sheriff's uniform, made me trust him and so, I looked around for a few seconds before noticing the undead were making their way towards them and decided to grab the mans outstretched hand, running with him and the asian (who had claimed he wasn't dead) before running up towards a metal ladder, the asian going first, then myself, then the Sheriff, landing on a platform so we could quickly get their breath back.
"Nice moves their Clint Eastwood, you the new sheriff, come here to clean up the town?" The asian snarked as I tried to catch my breath back, I could feel her asthma starting to hit.
"I assure you, that wasn't my intention." The sheriff replied, looking briefly over at me, almost like he was checking I was okay.
"Yeehaw, you're still a dumbass." The asian almost looked like he wanted to laugh.
"Rick." The sheriff introduced, shaking the asians hand before turning to m. "You okay?" He asked as I fished out my inhaler from the front pocket of my backpack.
"Nothing I can't handle." I nodded, taking a few puffs before placing it back, shaking the outstretched hand of Rick.
"Annora by the way." I smiled, shaking his hand and then the asian's.
"Glenn." He nodded. "What about you? What were you doing out there?" Glenn asked.

"Just trying to stay alive, isn't it the same with everyone?" I asked, my breath finally back.
There was a loud amount of snarling coming from the bottom of the steps, everyone's eyes following up the tall yellow metal ladder that was leading to the roof of the building.
"On the brightside, it'll be the fall that kills us." That wasn't making me feel any better than I already was but I didn't really have a choice. "I'm a glass half full kind of guy." Glenn shrugged and began making his way up the steps towards the roof.
"After you." I sent Rick a thankful smile before making my way carefully up the ladder. "Why did you help us?" Rick asked Glenn as we made our way to the centre of the roof.
"I like to think that if I was that far up shit creek, someone would do the same for me. Guess that makes me an even bigger dumb ass than you." Glenn nodded his head towards Rick before making his way down some steps.
"Again, after you." I smiled again at the sheriff before following Glenn down the steps and into a back alley where he was radioing some people.
"I'm back, got two with me and about forty walkers in the alley." Walkers? I asked myself in my head, furrowing my eyebrows. That must be what they call them.
I was so far off in my own little head that I hadn't even noticed that Glenn had stopped, causing me to run into him and hang my head as I apologised.
In the alley way in front of us, there were now two 'walkers' making their way towards us. Glenn and Rick both seemed prepared so I side stepped a little so I was standing just enough behind Rick that he wouldn't notice and decided to step out on this one. 'Walkers' never were my strong point.
I could have jumped for joy as the metal doors of the building we were currently stood by opened up and two masked men ran out with baseball bats and some masks, running forwards and distracting the walkers so we could get inside, only to be slammed into some crates by some blonde woman who was pointing a gun at both Rick and myself. I held my breath in anticipation of what she would do (which really wasn't a good thing but it was something I did when I was nervous.)
"Andrea back off." One of the masked men warned as he took off his mask. He looked slightly Hispanic to me and I was thankful for the fact he was trying to get this woman away from me.
"You're kidding right? We're dead because of these assholes." Andrea moved the gun from my head to Rick before going back to me.
"I said back off, or just shoot 'em." A little bit of panic flooded through me as she looked like she was seriously contemplating his offer before she let Rick and I go, moving away from us and I could let out the breath I'd been holding.
I was still uncertain about whether or not I was going to like this group, but something told me that I wasn't going to be getting rid of them any time soon.

It was very different from the others. Much less sweet."These ones match your eyes, don't they? Your pretty green eyes." He said to me, wiping away more of my tears while I was too distracted by the explosion of flavour in my mouth.I rubbed my irritated eyes and he fed me another kiwi slice. It tasted good but it made my body shiver a little from the little sting it had in its taste."Is it too sour? Sorry about that." He chuckled, gently raking his fingers through my hair as I relaxed a little.I wanted more. I liked kiwi."You want more?" He asked me.I looked at the kiwi and then at him. He really, really wanted me to talk. He fed me the rest of the kiwi pieces even though he hadn't gotten an answer from me and then he smiled."All done." He said to me, brushing my hair away from my face with a smile.
