tension was so thick, I can't even see my hands.

Reyna and I didn't say anything and the anxiety is making me tense up. Standing over the balcony over looking New Rome, she looked forward, back straight. Her stance made me wonder how strong of a leader is she.

"Fujiwara." I bit back a yelp when she said my name. "When Alexander said you were the one who will find this hidden camp." She turned her head to me. "How did you feel?"

Her eyes would've made anyone cower but to me, I felt challenged. "Conflicted. I want to escape my life as a model but I don't want to go on some destiny quest."

Reyna's eyes glinted. "So you are scared because of death?"

"I'm not afraid to die." I turned to Reyna, eyes narrowed. "I'm afraid because if I die on my predetermined quest, you'll hope to find another unlucky sap and force the guy to go on the same quest. I don't want anyone to experience the same fate I have. And I don't want your campers to despair anymore."

My answer must have caught her off-guard because her eyes widened for a fraction until they were normal again. "You are... no ordinary person."

I shrugged. "I get that a lot." I turned my back against the railing, feeling a bit more relaxed. The afternoon wind felt nice. "So is this why you wanted me to go with you?"

She shook her head and patted her metal dogs. Sudden chills ran down my neck as I felt the tension in the air again.

"Impetus."

Quickly dodging the golden dog's fangs, I willed my hand to transform to a claw and clamped the golden dog's jaws shut. My eyes widened when I saw the silver dog's teeth in-front of my face. Somehow by instinct, I tapped the bracelet on my free arm against my knee as it disassembled and transformed into a spiked, blue fan. Stabbing him as he staggered, everything seemed to stop when I saw a spear heading my way.

Strength pumped through my veins as I threw the golden dog like he was nothing and blasted the spear with a water blast. Standing tall, I towered over Reyna and gave her my chompers that can kill her.

She only nodded. "If the prophecy states that you were going to soar, I might as well take the liberty of rekindling your godly half." Her eyes glinted again. "I thought Terminus confiscated your weapons?"

I looked back at the fan that I transformed. The silver dog got it out already. The fan was still in pristine condition.

I gave a dragon grunt. "You're talking to an amnesiac, girl."

"It's best if you turn back. I don't want campers to see a dragon after a bird monster."

I stood on my hind legs and willed myself to transform back. I saw my normal hands and they instantly felt my face. I felt normal human skin. I mentally gave out a sigh of relief when I saw my clothes were still intact.

"And when I first met you, I thought you were cool." I said, picking up the fan. "You lied to me."

"Is backstabbing also one of your fears?"

I stopped examining the fan when she said that. That word made my blood boil in a way I can't describe. I don't why though.

I just want it to go away.

"Let's go back."

I didn't see Reyna's look of surprise when I turned the fan back and my eyes turn into slits.
