《Complete // Stiles Stilinski [3]》7

"Chimera's," said Sheriff while marking an X on Tracy's picture.
"Two dead chimera's," Stiles said.
"8 new ones. So that's 10 in all," I nodded.
"I'm thinking maybe 11," Sheriff said while pinning a picture of Donovan to the cork board.
I inhaled deeply and rolled my eyes. Hopefully the dread doctors already got to him, and killed him. That son of a bitch deserves it. Okay that was too far...
"Our station tech guys confirmed something for me," he turned the laptop around to show us the screen. "They said both the holding cell lock and cameras could have malfunctioned because of something electromagnetic." The screen showed Donovan in the cell one second, gone the next.
He picked up the book on the dread doctors and flipped through the pages. "You said that these guys..."
"Dread Doctors," I said while looking at the book in his hand.
"Are we really calling them that?" Sheriff squinted his eyes and cocked his head to the side.
"So they broke Donovan out?" I asked.
"It's how they got into Eichen House, isn't it?"
I stared at the picture of Donovan before walking right up to it and said, "Donovan's a chimera."
"Yeah. But is he a failure like Lucas and Tracy?" Sheriff stood beside me and stared at the picture also.
"He was a failure when he was born," I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes. Sheriff looked at me and raised his eyebrows. "If he is, he's probably dead." I picked up the red marker and hovered over Donovan's picture but Sheriff grabbed my wrist gently and lowered it.
"Not until I've seen a body."
Sheriff turned around to Stiles. I turned around also and followed his gaze to Stiles who was standing far away with his back to us, and his hands folded in front of him.
Somethings wrong. I could sense it.
"You're uncharacteristically quiet," said Sheriff to Stiles.
He turned around to us and said, "Sorry, I'm uh..." He pointed to his head. "I'm just trying to think about it. Uh..." He took a few steps closer. "These are all teenagers, right? So, now shouldn't we be trying to figure out why these teenagers?"
He continued, "If the Dread Doctors, if they went through all that, burying them, killing them, breaking one of them out of jail-"
"They couldn't have been chosen at random," Sheriff said, understanding Stiles's point.
"They had to of had something in common," I nodded.
"Something that made them right for this experiment," Sheriff continued.
I turned around and looked at all three pictures on the board, "Something that made them special."

"My mom's book club usually has more wine," Lydia joked.
All of use stood around the circle table in Scott's house, staring down at the copies and the book on the Dread Doctors.
"Well, they probably didn't read books that cause violent hallucinations," Stiles pointed out.
"That's why Malia is here," said Scott, making us all look at her.
"So none of us go running into traffic," said Kira.
"Or worse."
"Like what happened to Judy," said Malia.
"Who?" Everyone shared the same confused look.
"Chapter 14."
Lydia leaned down and picked up the actual book, "Maybe I should have my mother read it. She might remember a girl with a tail leaping off the ceiling and attacking everyone."
"Yeah, if it works," I said crossing my arms over my chest.

"It has to," she said quietly.
"What does that mean?" Scott asked.
Lydia looked up at all of us, "I think I saw them in my surgery. When I look at the cover of the book, it's almost like..."
"A memory trying to surface," Theo said while staring down at the table.
"Isn't that what Valack wanted when he wrote it?" Kira asked.
"If they did something to me," began Lydia. "I want to know what it is."
All of us began to pick up a copy and travel to different parts of Scott's house to read. Stiles took a seat on the couch so I sat on the other side, laying my feet on top of his legs, which he didn't seem to mind.
After about an hour of reading, I wasn't making too much progress. I had gone through a few pages of what seemed like the never-ending book and I didn't feel any different. I closed the book a few minutes ago and made coffee in the kitchen. Stiles had followed me in there and wanting coffee himself.
"Anyone feeling anything yet?" I heard Scott ask.
"Tired," Kira replied.
"Hungry," Lydia said.
"A headache," I said aloud.
"I think he meant the book," Theo said.
I rolled my eyes and poured some coffee in a mug, sliding it in front of Stiles. He didn't look up from the book, and just rubbed his shoulder where I had seen him continuously wince any time he moved it weirdly. The same side I found the shirt with blood on it.
"What did you do to your shoulder?" I asked once again, taking a sip of the coffee.
"What are you talking about?" He asked dumbly.
"Are we really going to do this again? I can smell the blood. Just tell me what happened."
"Jeep died on me again. I went to check the engine, the hood fell on it," he lied easily. I clenched my jaw while I listened to his heart speed up.
I decided to ignore it and just let it pass. To say I was angry would be an understatement but I have to understand, whatever happened, Stiles will tell me. When he's ready.
I didn't even realize I was squeezing the mug really hard till I broke the handle off. It felt like slow motion as I watch the cup of coffee fall to the ground. I was really quick to grab it but that didn't stop coffee from getting on the floor.
I cursed under my breath and put the mug into the sink as I got paper towels to clean up the mess.
"What happened?" Stiles asked.
"I don't know. The mug broke." I grabbed another from the cabinet and poured more coffee.
I picked up my book and sat back down on the couch beside Scott, placing my coffee on the end table beside me. I grabbed a pillow and placed it in the middle of Scott and I.
I grabbed a blanket and pulled it over me and I layed my head down.
"Giving up?" Scott asked.
"Just resting my eyes."

My eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the white lights hanging above me. I tried to sit up but when I couldn't move, I realized that I was strapped down and restraint.
I first tried to free my hands but when that was no use, I began to panic and try to free my body all at once.
I sighed in defeat and relaxed my body. I leaned my head up as much as I could and tried to look at my surroundings. It was hard to look around because the lights above me were very blinding but all I could see was this large, glowing green cylinder in the distance.

It was silent for the most part until I heard the static and the crackling which could only mean one thing, The Dread Doctors.
I began to panic once again as I heard their footsteps get closer and closer.
"What are you doing to me?" I asked frantically, looking around in all directions as they hovered around me.
The Dread Doctors didn't say anything. I watched one turn around and pick up a huge syringe.
"W-What are you doing? Let me go!" I screamed and tried to break free again.
I felt a stabbing pain in my neck as they dug the large needle in. I froze still as the extracted my blood.
"Please, stop!" I yelled.
I felt the pressure release from my neck as they pulled out the needle. My eyes widened at the amount of blood they took.
My body shot up as I took in a huge breath. My hand flew to the side of my neck and rubbed the side of it hysterically. I stopped doing that when I looked around and realized that I was still at Scott's house.
Everyone seemed to be asleep, no one seeing my outburst.
I remembered.
I finally remembered one of the nightmares.
I got up from the couch, stepping quietly over Stiles who was a asleep on the floor.
I picked up my copy of the book from and floor and stared at it in fear.
Maybe it wasn't just a nightmare. Maybe it was a memory.

"What if we need some kind of trigger? Wasn't Malia driving when she remembered the crash?" Scott asked as we pushed through the doors of school.
"Yeah, but how are we supposed to trigger a memory that we don't remember?" Stiles asked.
"Maybe it's a delayed thing. Maybe you have to wait a couple hours to see what happens."
"Actually," I paused and stopped walking, their eyes staring at me waiting for me to continue. "I think it just happens. Like, when you least expect it. You shouldn't try and trigger something, because, like Stiles said, you don't remember it."
"Is there something you haven't told us?" Scott asked.
"I remembered... something."
The three of them stood there wide-eyed and waited for me to continue.
"It was a dream though, I don't know if it was real. Lately, I've been haven't nightmares, but I wouldn't remember them. This one I remembered. I don't even know where I was but I was laying on a table, strapped down. The Dread Doctors appeared around me, then took my blood. Then I woke up."
"W-what? When was this? Why didn't you tell us sooner?" Stiles asked and crossed his arms over his chest. I could sense he was slightly angry that I didn't tell him sooner.
"It was last night at Scott's. Everyone was asleep when I woke up. I-I didn't even know if it was important and frankly, I was kinda scared."
The lights flickered above us, making us look at Kira who just raised her hands up and said, "That wasn't me. I swear."
"We keep an eye on each other today, okay?" Scott informed.
"Yes, and keep an eye out for eight other potentially homicidal chimera's," Stiles said and clapped his hands together.
"And keep an eye out for the dread doctors," Kira also said.
Scott wrapped his arm around Kira as they left.
"Starting to see the appeal of a third eye," Stiles placed his hands on his hips and nodded.
"So, why didn't you tell me about the dream?" Stiles asked as he followed me to my class.
"This is the first time I've seen you since last night. When else would I have told you?" I questioned.
"Well, you could have told me when we left Scott's," he shrugged.
"It's not big deal. I'm fine."
"Did you sleep any more last night?" He asked.
I bit my bottom lip and shook my head. "I couldn't. Not after what I saw."
"You could have come over, I wouldn't have mind to stay up with you," Stiles said and slid his hand into mine, making us stop in the middle of the hall.
I laughed and gripped onto his hand, "You love sleep. I would never take that away from you."
"Yeah, but I love you, too." He brought our hands up to his face and kissed the back of my hand.
"You're so cheesy. We'll talk more later. I've got to get to class." I winked at him and let go of his hand, turning on my heel and walked to class.
***
I stared down at the inhaler in Scott's hand.
"You gonna be okay?" I asked him. He jumped at my sudden appearance.
"How'd you find me?" He asked.
I shrugged and sat beside him on the bench in the locker room, "I'm not your beta, but maybe it's still a pack thing. I had a feeling."
He nodded and put the inhaler down. "I'll be fine. I think it was just a memory hitting me. Psychosomatic thing. How are you doing? Stiles mentioned that you didn't sleep last night."
"Oh, it was nothing. I'll be fine. "
"You sure? You can talk about it with me," Scott put away the inhaler and turned to me.
I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. "It's not that that's bothering me..."
"What's going on?"
"It's a couple things. Um, I'm worried about Stefan and Damon. They haven't contacted me in weeks and I'm scared that something might have happened. They won't return my calls or anything." I chewed the inside of my cheek, a nervous habit of mine.
"I'm sure everything is fine. Maybe they're just busy," Scott said, unsure of himself.
"Or maybe they haven't found a cure for me and they're just afraid to tell me," I said sadly.
"I'm sure that's not the case. I don't know these guys but from what I've heard from you, they sound like good guys. Are they?"
"Are they good guys?" I repeated the question and he nodded. "They are, yeah. They helped me a lot, and are still helping me actually. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I'm sure they're busy." I bit the inside of my cheek again, trying to convince myself with those words. They're busy.
"What else is bothering you? You said there were a couple of things."
"Have you noticed anything weird going on with Stiles?" I asked him.
"Other than his normal weirdness? I don't think so." He joked.
"Something's bothering him. I can tell, but he won't talk to me. I've tried to get it out of him, or just something. I want to be there for him and help him, but it's like he's-" The lights flickered on and off, stopping me mid-sentence.
Scott and I shared the same confused look as we stood up at the same time. I noticed the look on Scott's face as he was obviously trying to focus on a sound. I closed my eyes and tried to hear what he was hearing. Then I heard it. The electricity buzzing and water dripping. It has to be under the school.
"I hear it, too."
"It's coming from the basement," said Scott.
Scott picked up his bag from the ground and headed toward the door of the locker room.
"Keep talking, I'm listening," he said as we rushed down the hallway.
"No, I was done. That's it," I said nervously.
Scott stopped and turned around to me and asked, "Are you sure?"
I nodded and continued towards the stairwell, Scott following behind.
Our feet echoed in the stairwell as our feet padded along each step as we went further and further down. I gripped the handle that would lead us to the basement and walked through the doorway.
I no longer had to use my heightened hearing because once we turned around the corner, we found the source of the sound.
Scott's arm shot out in front of me so I wouldn't get any closer. He didn't have to do that because there is no way I'm getting any closer to the large broken wire's hanging from the ceiling.
"This definitely isn't Kira," said Scott.
"It's another chimera."

That which made their home the lost places of this world.” She folded the letter with a shuddering breath and stared back in the direction from where the noise reverberated through the halls. It was of stone doors shattering one by one. The chances of getting out safely were all but gone. The letter in her hand was all warning they would have. It dropped into one of the Wells and all that could be done now was hope it was found in time, if at all. -- This was my very first large story. ;) I started writing it years ago. Was fun, was difficult, but in the end, it is a story I hope that will inspire. The prologue is in first person perspective and the rest of the story in 3d. Just a little heads-up :P It is a fantasy epic with a contemporary twist for the start. The first arc of the novel is set inside our modern world, but as the mysterious events around Calin intensifies, the hidden secrets in the world start to become more fantastical. The story follows Calin, a young orphan in search of answers. But, the answers he seeks will change his life and that of his friends forever, for the secrets that caused his situation have far greater ramifications than the small village of Lamb's Crest could have known. Remember to leave ratings and reviews. I'm quite interested in hearing your thoughts on the story. ;) Enjoy reading, Omri Hope
