This chapter is dedicated to for entering this cover into my contest! Thank you so much for the amazing cover! I loved it! :)
"Stiles, you've had all summer to sleep. Wake up before I pour cold water all over you," I yell/whispered.
"Why can't you wake me up the other way?" He finally turned around and opened his eyes, a stupid smirk plastered on his face.
"I'm serious. Lena doesn't like when you're over. I mean, she likes you just not the idea of my boyfriend sleeping in the same bed as me. Or even when you're just in my room."
"Is that why she's always nagging about you to keep your door open when I'm over?" He sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
"She's not nagging, she's just trying to be a good guardian. If it was my dad, you wouldn't even be aloud in my room," I climbed out of bed and picked his shirt and pants off the floor, tossing them to him. "Maybe even the house."
"C'mon, didn't you want to go see your dad at the station?" I walked over to my unpacked boxes and tried to look for something to wear.
"Yeah, I'm gonna go home first and take a shower," he sat on the edge of my bed and put his shoes on.
"You could always take a shower here," I offered. I made an 'ah-ha' sound as I found the dress I was looking for.
"I am a man, I do not want to smell like your vanilla soap."
"Um, it's coconut," I corrected him.
"Oh, my bad!" He waved his hands in the air sarcastically. He walked up to me and kissed me on the lips.
"See you at school," I said to him, kissing him once more before he left.
***
"So, you ran a background check, and all you found was a speeding ticket?" I asked Stiles as I followed him in the school courtyard.
"Speeding ticket signed by Theo's dad eight years ago."
"Which means..?"
"Who speeds?" Stiles asked like it was totally crazy. "People trying to get away from something."
"Stiles. How many tickets do you have?" I already knew the answer to this one.
"None."
I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms, "How many would you have if your dad hadn't gotten you out of them?"
"Ten."
I glared at him.
"Okay, seventeen."
I sighed and pursed my lips. "Well, Stiles. I see why you're worried. He's really hot. He's got like great hair, perfect body. You should definitely feel threatened."
"Thank you. Because I do. Now more than ever," his eyes bugged out of his head. I don't think he realized that I was just kidding.
"You want me to torture him?" Malia asked, appearing out of nowhere.
Stiles and I both jumped because her presence startled us.
"Uh, I can torture him too. I am totally capable," I pointed to myself. "I can do it. Don't doubt me."
"What? No. I don't want either of you to torture him."
"What? Think I couldn't take him?" I was just joking around but I don't think Stiles realized it.
"Yes, you could totally take him. I was just-- I have a plan! All right? There are steps to doing this right."
"What steps?" Malia asked.
"We get the story. Verify the facts. You find a piece that doesn't fit and... and catch him in the act. That's how you do it," his eyes trailed behind me and he rolled his eyes.

Malia and I turned in the direction he was looking as saw Theo get out of a car. He saw us and waved. Me being a nice person, I waved back.
I kept my eyes on him and a fake smile on my face, "Why are you so suspicious of this guy?"
He licked his lips and sighed, "Because I remember Theo from forth grade. Okay? That's not Theo."
***
"Come on. We have to go," Stiles grabbed my arm and slammed my locker shut. I looked at Scott who was beside Stiles as he dragged me down the hallway, almost making me drop my books in my hand.
"I have a study hall."
"It's the first day of school, you don't have to study for anything. So, you have a free period. Just like Theo," Stiles said really fast.
"Actually I was going to meet with the counselor. See, they put me in the wrong math- Stiles," I whined when he still didn't let go of my arm. I guess I really can't convince him to let me go.
***
"I was skating in a neighbor's empty pool, trying to do a hand plant. Nobody was home. I'm not that good of a skateboarder, but I guess I was feeling pretty determined because I completely lost track of time. I didn't even realize it was night until the yard light came on. Like I said, I wasn't very good. On my last try I went down and hit hard. Really hard. I was sitting there at the bottom of the pool and I realized something. I never heard the board come back down. It came at me fast. I barely had the chance to turn around before it bit me. Right here," Theo pointed to his side, the same place Scott told me where he was bitten.
The whole time Theo was explaining himself, I listened to his heart. It was steady the whole time but something still felt off. I know Scott wouldn't approve but I have to compel him.
"It wasn't an accident," said Scott. "He wanted to turn you."
"Right. So why aren't you part of his pack then?" Stiles asked. "Why didn't he come back for you?"
"Because by the time of my first full moon, he was dead." Whoa, plot twist.
"How'd you know that?" I asked, walking up in front of him.
"I met another one of his pack a couple weeks later. He told me the Alpha that bit me was kill by two of his own betas. They were twins."
Stiles, Scott and I shared the same knowing look of who the twins were.
"Scott, listen to my pulse. I'm telling the truth."
"Right. Or you just know how to steady your heart rate while you lie your ass off," I said with a small laugh. "I have better idea."
"Brianna, don't," Scott warned.
I pushed Theo up against the lockers of the boys locker room, staring deep into his eyes.
"Are you telling the truth?" I compelled.
I watched his eyes, very confused why they didn't dilate like they're supposed to.
"Yes," he said in a mono-toned voice.
He shook his head as if he were coming out of a trance asking, "Why would I lie?"
"Because maybe you're not who you say you are," Stiles said while messing with his fingers.
"Okay," Theo looked at Scott. "In forth grade you had an inhaler, I had one, too. I remember this day where I ended up in the nurse's office with an asthma attack. A bad one. I was waiting to be taken to the ER. You were waiting for the Principal. You told me what would happen when you go to the ER for asthma. How they give you oxygen and an IV of prednisone. You made it sound easy. Like everything would be okay. I've been by myself this whole time. Everybody knows that lone wolves, they don't make it on their own. I sweat I'm that same kid from forth grade. I was hoping you are, too."

"Oh. My. Gosh," I groaned loudly and leaned my head back. "Bitch I already compelled you. You didn't lie. You can leave now."
The bell rang loudly.
"I better not be late for class," Theo said. "You're the only ones I need to make a good impression on."
"Bye, bye," I waved.
He gave me a weird look before he grabbed his back pack and left.
"You didn't have to be so rude," said Scott to me.
"Did you smell anything weird on him?" I asked, ignoring his comment. Scott gave me a puzzled look, urging me to continue.
"There was something very off about the compulsion," I looked down at the ground as I tried to figure it out in my head.
"I knew it. He's lying," Stiles said jumping to conclusions.
"Did you smell any like, weird herbs or something. Like vervain, maybe? I don't think the compulsion worked."
"How do you know?" Scott asked.
"His eyes didn't dilate."
"Care to elaborate more?"
"Stiles, sit down," I ordered him.
Stiles reluctantly obeyed me and sat down on a bench.
"Okay," I bent down and placed my hands on my knees as Stiles and I faces were inches apart. "I'm going to compel you, the only time I ever will, and Scott is going to watch what happens to your eyes."
Scott leaned down in the same position I was and watched Stiles's eyes closely.
"Who kisses better, me or Malia?" If this was gonna be the one and only time I compel Stiles, I'm gonna get a kick out of it.
"You," was all he said. After he said that, his pupils got smaller because of the compulsion.
"Yeah, I see now. And Theo's didn't do that?" Scott asked.
"I can't believe you did that to me. I don't think I've ever sweat so much in my life," Stiles said really fast as he fanned himself.
I ignored Stiles as I spoke to Scott. "Didn't move at all."
"Maybe it has something to do with supernatural," Scott suggested.
"Liam's eyes dilated when I compelled him. I don't know, Scott. Something is really fishy about this guy."
***
"How'd the driving go?" I asked Malia as I approached her, Scott, and Kira who were sitting down in the library.
"Better than last time," she sighed.
I looked at Kira who was wide-eyed and shook her head. Well, there's always room for improvement.
Scott and I began to talk about our classes but were interrupted when Stiles came and slammed a piece of paper down in front of us.
"So you found something?" Asked Scott.
"Another signature." I followed to where Stiles was pointing and looked at the signature.
"This is Theo's dad's signature on a speeding ticket from eight years ago," He pulled out another piece of paper and pointed to it. "Now this is his dad's signature on a transfer form to Beacon Hills High School from just a few days ago."
"How did you get his transfer form?" Kira asked.
"Did you break into the administration office?" Scott asked.
"Not me," Stiles said and looked down at me.
I avoided eye contact with everyone and slid down in my chair.
"Brianna..." said Scott knowingly.
"He wouldn't stop bugging me!" I defended.
"What?! That was so not the case," Stiles said in a high-pitched voice.
"Okay, maybe he said something else," my face turned red as I remembered what he said. Though, I would never repeat it in front of everyone. It's... inappropriate.
"Can we just focus on the signatures, please?" Stiles said adverting the conversation back to the forms. "They're different."
"They're sort of different," Malia said, though you could tell she was not convinced.
"They're completely different. Come on. Look. The garlands don't even match, the undulations of the sinuous stroke, totally off. And look, look at this," he traced his finger of the signature. "Perfect example of the Criminal Tremor."
"So now, Theo is Theo, but his parents aren't his parents?" Kira asked confused.
"Someone's not someone. And when I figure out who that someone really is, someone's in big trouble." The face he made after that sentence proved that he just confused himself.
"But no one's done anything wrong," said Scott.
"Yet. If Theo's parents are both psychotic killers then obviously, we shouldn't trust him, right?"
"My parent's are Peter Hale and the Desert Wolf," said Malia.
"Okay..." Stiles rubbed his forehead. "It's fine. You know what? I'll just figure this out myself, all right?"
He swiped the papers off the table. "I don't need you, you, you, or-"
He stopped himself when he got around to me. I just sent him a smile and waited for him to continue.
"I don't need you either," He finally said and turned around and began to walk away. But he stopped and twisted back around just to give me a kiss on the lips. "I didn't mean it, I actually do need you just not for this. I love you very much."
When he finally left the library I couldn't help but laugh. I know he was trying to be serious and angry but he just looked cute.
***
"Have you talked to Stiles?" Scott asked me while taking a bite of his pizza.
"Kind of. I tried calling him to see if he wanted to hang out but apparently he's busy."
"Oh, I understand. Stiles wasn't free so I'm the next best thing?" He asked with an offended look.
"What? That's not true. I called Lydia first but she's busy too," I joked.
Scott rolled his eyes and threw his greasy napkin at me.
"Okay, ew," I fake gagged and threw it back.
"Do you know what 'busy' is?" I asked, referring to whatever Stiles is doing.
"Liam said they were together, following Theo out in the woods," he replied.
"Oh, no," I mumbled and rubbed my forehead. "We have to do something."
"Why?" He asked, totally oblivious.
"Um... Did you not hear the words that just came out of your mouth?"
"Oh, gosh. You're right. Let's go."
Scott got up from the kitchen table and grabbed his motorbike helmets, handing me one and putting one on himself.
"Do I really need this? I don't want helmet hair," I whined and got behind him on his bike.
"Are you really-? Brianna, put the helmet on."
"Fine," I mumbled and reluctantly put it on.
It didn't take Scott and I long to get to the reserve. We pulled up to the entrance and found Stiles's parked jeep and just waited there for him.
I could hear multiple footsteps arriving, soon Liam and Stiles into view.
"Find anything?" Scott asked.
"Nope," Stiles said and walked over to the drivers side of the jeep.
"I fell in a hole," Liam said with a smile.
"Aw, buddy, are you okay?" I asked in a high pitched voice and pinched his cheeks. I love babying Liam, though he hates it.
He smacked my hand away and glared at me.
"It was the bridge where his sister died, wasn't it?" Scott asked Stiles once he was in his jeep.
"Yes it was. Very embarrassing. So we're going to leave now. Bri, you coming?" Stiles asked while trying to start his jeep.
The engine sputter before it stopped.
"Son of a... Liam, just do me a favor, get in the car and turn the ignition when I say," Stiles said, very annoyed, and got out of the jeep.
Stiles and Scott walked over to the front of the jeep and popped the hood up. I knew what would happen next so I walked over to the passenger side of the jeep and grabbed the duct-tape from the cup holder.
"Try it," Stiles called out.
I waited a second for Liam to turn the key, but all it did was sputter and stop again.
I sighed and walked around the front and held the tape out to him.
"Stiles," Scott said.
"Yes, okay?" He took the tape from my hand. "We followed him out here. What do you want me to say? That I'm a stalker, huh? That I'm crazy, totally paranoid? None of this is new information," Stiles said totally spazzing out.
Scott and I made eye contact and he nodded me over to the jeep. I nodded, understanding that he should talk to Stiles along, and hopped into the passenger side beside Liam.
Even though I walked away, I could still hear them talking. Scott knew this, it would just be better for the two of them to be there.
"Now you're gonna try to at least give him the benefit of the doubt?" Scott asked.
"I give people the benefit of the doubt. I've given a lot of benefit to a lot of people."
"Like Derek?"
Liam and I were very quiet as we listened. Every now and then we would share a glance back and forth.
"Kira? Liam?"
"Me?" Liam whispered to me.
"I didn't trust you either," I whispered back.
"Brianna?"
"Now hold up!" I gawked. I was about to get out of the car, but Liam swung his arm out in front of me.
"I was right about Peter," Stiles replied. "Try it again!"
Liam moved his arm back and twisted the key but no luck.
"You know, I bet you still think that there's something about him that can be saved."
"Maybe." Wrong answer, Scott.
"Try it again!" I could hear the anger in Stiles's voice and all I wanted to do was go out there and calm him down. And tell Scott to shut up too. He's just making things worse.
"What can't you trust anyone?" Scott asked.
"Because you trust everyone!" There was this loud band on the jeep that made it move.
My heart began to race and I jumped out so fast I don't think Liam even realized I was gone.
My hand flew to my mouth as I saw Stiles standing there with a pained expression and his hand shaking.
"Stiles," I began.
"I'm fine," he replied quickly.
"You could have broken it," said Scott.
"It's not broken."
"Let me see it."
"I'm fine." I could tell Stiles was trying to act tough. He already felt embarrassed with the Theo thing.
"Let me see it," Scott ordered, not taking no for an answer.
Scott placed both his hands on either sides of Stiles'. I watched black veins run up Scott's arm as he took his pain.
Stiles clenched his fist and moved his fingers around.
Liam turned on the ignition one last time and it finally started up, the headlights shining brightly at Scott and Stiles.
No one said anything else.
Scott left before us and I rode with Liam and Stiles.
I wanted to say something but I didn't know what to say. I would like to say the silence wasn't awkward, but it was. Especially after we dropped Liam off at the school.
"Am I taking you home or..." Was the first thing Stiles said to me.
"Shut up and go to your house," I replied.
When we go to his house I followed him to his room. He took off his jacket, which I took and hung up in his closet, and walked to his board.
"You should have told me where you were going tonight," I said and took a seat behind him on his bed.
"Why? So you could talk me out of it?"
"I'm behind you on this one, Stiles. If you don't trust him, then I don't. Something is off about him, I can feel it. And you've been right about these things before."
"I've also been wrong too."

His invincible soul now unchained, surprises await him as he begins his new jouney in an unknown land. I'm just writing this for fun, but i'll never drop it. This won't be something short, as I have the very long term in mind, but I'm a total noob to writing, so I most likely won't release chapters very often, at least until I really get the hang of it. But, the chapters will always be several thousand words long. At the minimum 2k, maximum like 6k... Pretty big variations, sorry. If you like it, great. If you don't, that's understandable. Regardless, if you have a read, I'd appreciate feedback for areas you think I should improve on, whether it's the use of some words or how I should write something or WHATEVER. I'm open to anything, good or bad, because with your help, it'll help make this story better. **DISCLAIMER** So you don't waste your time, I want to let you know what you're getting into, because I like knowing ahead of time before I read something. This might appear like a Xianxia novel, but it's not. It only starts that way. This is a western fantasy world and setting that many of you are familiar with. The beginning chapters might be a bit of an info dump. Some of it might seems superfluous, but a lot of information is relevant to the story. The first few chapters might also seem rushed, but I'll try to keep it exclusive to those. This is a cliche, OP MC story with the typical harem, but other than the quick start, everything else will be gradual. There will be romance, and probably many moments at that, but don't expect anything TOO detailed. If you want something really steamy, look elsewhere. References and throwbacks to stuff most likely. The setting won't be really dark or really light. Middleground, I guess. The MC is far from a young kid, but he won't totally reflect his age. I don't plan on discarding info, abilities or characters that you KNOW should come back and be around. I see it a lot and it sort of bugs me haha... but I could have oversights, I dunno. As I said, I'm a noob. That's it, really. If you're interested, welcome to my world!
