THIRTY.
Sage kept her head down as she walked into the library for detention. Everyone filed in at the same time, all going to the first seat they saw. While Scott and Stiles moved towards the table in the center, she flanked behind with Allison and directed her body over to a table opposite of her boyfriend, Scott, and Erica. There's no way she's going to voluntarily sit next to wanna-be blondie. So while Jackson, Matt, and Allison took one table, Sage took another. She still refused to make contact with Stiles, for the very reason that he would ask question about what happened, and she wanted to just forget. If that meant sitting alone, she was fine with it.
"Uh, we can't be in detention together. I have a restraining order against those tools," Jackson told Harris, pointing towards Scott's table as he took his seat. Sage huffed, throwing herself into the seat, catching Stiles' eye on the process.
"All of these tools?" Harris questioned, raising his eyebrows at the student. Sage was pretty sure the only thing worse than being in a room with Jackson after what he did, technically, was being in a room with Harris. He had to be one of the worst people she had ever met in her life, and she has met many bad people in her lifetime. He still manages to reach the top of the leader board.
Jackson shook his head, and Stiles motioned between himself and Scott. "No, just us tools."
"Fine, you two, over there."
To Sage's dismay, Harris just so happened to be pointing towards the table she was sitting at. Of course it had to be her table, why would Harris be nice enough to sit the two boys at the other three tables in the library? She frowned and threw her backpack off the table to give them more room, sending a couple thousand words of profanity towards Harris when her boyfriend pulled up a seat beside her and Scott sat across from her. She shifted when she felt Stiles lean closer to her, guilt bubbling up in her stomach. He didn't do anything wrong and she was acting cold just because Jackson spat a few insults her way.
"I'm going to kill him," Scott said immediately once sitting down.
Stiles shrugged in reply, glancing over towards Sage. "I'll help."
"Neither of you are killing him," Sage replied, looking up from her nails to stare in between them. They both turned to her, baffled expressions on their faces. "You're going to find out who's controlling him, and then you're going to help save him."
"No, Scott's right, let's kill him," Stiles declined, his fists clenching up as he looked back towards Jackson. While Sage had changed out of her wet clothes, thanks to Lydia and Allison who both managed to have an article of clothing, Scott informed Stiles on what he had seen and heard while going into the locker room. Aside from hearing Sage's increased heart beat, he also heard a few of the words exchanged between Jackson and Sage, most of them including a series of cuss words. The triggering part was when he walked in to see Jackson completely naked and Sage, a girl that was like a sister to him, crying in a corner. Assumptions were bound to create.
"You're not killing him, Stiles," Sage protested, turning to look at her boyfriend. "Okay? Jackson didn't know what he was doing, he was literally being controlled to say and do everything in that locker room. Both of you need to drop it. I'm perfectly fine, I'm not hurt. All of the wounds that were created between you and Jackson healed. So please, just drop it."

It was quiet for a few minutes, Harris going over to the desk in the library while everyone found something to occupy their time. Jackson played around with a lacrosse ball, Allison messed with her nails, Erica had started to draw in her notebook, Matt was staring intently at his tablet, and Scott, Sage, and Stiles were just staring at each other. None of them had said anything after Sage hissed for them to drop the subject. Of course, until Stiles started to have a bad feeling about Matt.
"Hey, what if it's Matt?" Stiles suddenly asked, making Sage and Stiles look up at him. "I mean, this whole thing goes back to the video, right?"
Sage's eyebrows raised up, realizing that it was actually possible. "Danny said that Matt was the one that found the two hours of footage missing."
"Exactly! He's trying to throw the suspicion off of himself."
Scott put his hands on his arms, keeping his head down and his voice low so that Matt wouldn't be able to tell they were speaking about him. "So he makes Jackson kill Isaac's dad, one of Argent's hunters, and a mechanic working on your jeep?"
"Yes," Stiles agreed, nodding his head while Sage kept her eyes on Matt. She never liked him, and she knew Stiles didn't either. Whether that was because he was always taking pictures of her and Allison, or because he was just outright creepy, she wasn't sure. Scott didn't seem to agree with Stiles, however.
He just held a look of disbelief. "Why?"
"Because.... he's evil."
Sage snorted, while Scott rolled his eyes. "You just don't like him."
"The guy bugs me, I don't know what it is. Just look at his face." Sage and Scott looked to see that Matt was trying to shove the chips into Jackson's face. The blonde actually believed Stiles while Scott just pursed his lips, turning back to his best friends. He didn't see anything wrong with the lacrosse player, he just looked like a guy obsessed with pictures.
"Any other theories?"
Before Stiles could come up with any better reasons other than just that Matt was evil, the sound of a chair scraping rang through the library, silencing everyone. Sage's eyes diverted from Scott over to Jackson, who was holding onto his backpack like it was his lifeline. With furred eyebrows, she watched as he excused himself to the bathroom, leaving Harris to quickly follow after his favorite student. If Sage had a bleeding face, he wouldn't bother to ask her what's wrong. He would just say she was ruining the school's carpet.
Before she even knew what the two boys were doing, they pushed away from the table, grabbing hold of her upper arms and dragging her over Erica. Scott was forced to sit next to the other blonde while Stiles was opposite of her, next to his girlfriend. He figured if he was the one to sit next to Erica, all hell would break loose. Especially after she admitted to having a crush on him right before they landed detention. While Sage crossed her arms over chest, glaring at Erica for wearing a leather jacket and having her boobs out for the whole world to see, Scott and Stiles couldn't have cared less.
"Stiles says you know how Jackson's parents died," Scott said, pointing a finger towards Erica as he spoke the assumption. Sage's eyebrows raised, wondering when her boyfriend had the time to speak to the werewolf. Last she recalled, he was only supposed to find Lydia. Not that she minded in the least. Not at all.

"Maybe," Erica answered, continuing to write in her notebook that Sage expected was empty. Her pen wasn't even moving.
Scott's hand raised in a 'what the hell' motion. "Talk."
"It was a car accident. My dad was the insurance investigator, and every time he sees Jackson drive by in his Porsche, he makes some comment about the huge settlement he'll be getting when he's eighteen," Erica explained. Sage didn't know that his parents died in a car accident. She wondered what was worse, being burned and knowing you were never going to see your children again or being in an accident and never knowing. She suspected both were equally terrible.
"So not only is Jackson rich now, but he's getting even richer at eighteen?" Stiles restated, making sure he heard Erica's words correctly. Erica confirmed it, and Stiles scoffed. "There is something so deeply wrong with that."
Erica glanced at Sage before pursing her lips. "You know what, I could try and find something about the insurance report in my dad's inbox. He keeps everything." Sage hummed in response, narrowing her eyes on the other blonde. That's awesome that all of a sudden Barbie decides she wants to help everyone even though just a few weeks ago she was trying to rip out Scott's jugular.
"Scott McCall, please report to the principal's office."
Everyone shot their head up from what they were doing to stare at Scott. The voice in the intercom was Victoria, Allison's mom, but that was expected considering she stole the old receptionist's job as soon as their old principal disappeared. Scott got up without a word, only exchanging a few looks of panic to Stiles. Once he was out the door, Stiles turned back to Erica who was still typing away on her laptop, trying to find the insurance report. As much as Sage hated the girl, she moved from her place beside Stiles to sit alongside Erica. She did it for Jackson.
Speaking of Jackson, he re-entered the library just as Scott exited, and sadly enough for all of them, Harris was tagging behind. Her eyes traveled, watching as Jackson took his seat again, never once taking a glance at her. She sighed before leaning to see what Erica had pulled up on her computer. "Woah, woah, wait. Look at the dates."
"Passengers arrived at the hospital DOA, the estimated time of death, nine-twenty-six PM, June fourteenth, nineteen-ninety-five," Erica read off so that Stiles could hear what he couldn't see.
Sage's felt her heart drop when she realized that she knew why the date looked familiar to her. "Jackson's birthday is June fifteenth." Before any of them could evaluate the report any more, the sound of a bag zipping caught everyone's attention. Harris was zipping up his laptop bag, which pretty much signaled that it was time to leave. Sage grabbed her backpack, moving to throw it over her shoulder like everyone else was doing, only to be shot down.
"Oh," Harris laughed, shaking his head. "No, I'm sorry. Yes, I'm leaving, but none of you are. You may go when you're done with the re-shelving. Enjoy the rest of your evening." Sage's eyes couldn't even meet Harris' to give him a glare because she was too busy staring at the mountain of books on the carts. Surely, he can't keep them here overnight because that's how long it was going to take. Without eating, peeing, or sleeping.
♐ ♐ ♐ ♐ ♐ ♐
Sage believed completely that they were never going to get all of the books shelved. Even with another warm body after Scott came back, they still had a whole cart and a half to do. Erica left to do her own shelving, Jackson and Matt somewhere together while Sage, Allison, Scott, and Stiles were all standing in an aisle next to a cart full of untouched books. They were too busy trying to explain to Scott what happened while he disappeared, about what they found out about Jackson's parents as well as his birth. Scott, of course, had no idea what it meant when they explained Jackson was born a day after his parents death, forcing Stiles to explain it to the teen wolf.
"It means he was born after his mom died by C-section. They had to pull him out of her dead body," Stiles answered Scott, only for the boy to gape in horror. Sage had to admit, it was pretty horrible. She really couldn't blame Jackson for everything he did mostly because of how bad his past is.
Allison stared at the books as she processed at the information given. "So was it an accident or not?"
"The word for it is 'inconclusive'," Sage spoke up, leaning on the book cart as she played around with her fingers. The simple word was enough to drive somebody crazy. No one wants to hear that their parents death was inconclusive, Sage should know. Her parents died in a 'accidental house fire' rather than suspected arson for six years until Kate washed up.
"His parents could have been murdered?" Scott asked, looking at Sage in surprise, only for her to nod.
Stiles decided to answer Scott's question. "If they were, it falls in line with the Kanima myth. You know? Seeks out and kills murderers." Sage got up from the book cart when Stiles said that, her eyes widening as she caught on to something.
"But for Jackson or the person controlling him?"
Scott shook his head, feeling his need to protect everyone set in. "We have to talk to him."
"He's not going to listen, Scott."
But he didn't care. They watched as Scott rounded around the corner, disappearing from their line of sight. Sage hissed under her breath, running her hands through her hair as she went to follow after the werewolf. That had to be one of the worst ideas she's ever had, because five seconds later the name Erica was being yelled, and Sage was pulled into a pair of arms as the whole library felt like it was breaking. Sage cried out, but her word were muffled by leather. Sage looked up when things started to calm down, noticing that Erica had been the one to grab her.
They both got up slowly, getting from their crouched position. Erica was staring at Sage with wide eyes, which Sage couldn't help but exchange. That is until Sage saw someone, or rather something creeping up behind Erica. She screamed for the other blonde to move, going to stand in front of Erica only to feel something practically fling her into the book shelves. After that, Sage and Erica's cries mixed together to create a sound of agony.
"Sage!" A voice shouted from the book shelf to her right, only for her let out another groan. She felt like her whole body on fire from pain, and carefully tried to push herself off the floor to get to a paralyzed Erica, only to be shot down when her bones screeched in protest. "Sage, are you okay?" Stiles' voice rang through the library once again, and Sage shook her head even though she knew he couldn't see her.
"Yeah," She croaked out, lying to her boyfriend. She wasn't okay. "I'm fine."
She moved her head to see what was happening, and her whole body froze like she was paralyzed when she saw it. He wasn't the Kanima, and it wasn't Jackson. It looked like a hybrid between them both, taking on the form of a human with a severe scale issue. She flinched when she heard the sound of chalk scraping. Written out on the finished board were the words 'Stay out of my way or I'll kill all of you'. Then he just disappeared.
But Jackson wasn't the only thing that disappeared, Sage's ability to keep her body awake did as well. Her eyes shut, and she felt herself slowly shutting down after being hurled into the case with such force. Stiles, Allison, and Scott all got up when they were sure Jackson had left, Allison and Stiles going to look over in the next aisle while Scott stared at the board. When they saw what was happening in the aisle, both teenagers dropped to their knees, Allison heading towards Erica while Stiles grabbed a hold of Sage, setting her in his lap.
"Scott!" Both Allison and Stiles shouted at the same time. Scott looked behind him to see that Sage was unconscious, Stiles trying to pull her blonde hair out of her face as he shook her body lightly. Erica was convulsing in Allison's arms, and Scott wasted no time running over and sliding down next to their bodies. Allison choked out the words that Erica was having a seizure while Stiles announced Sage was unconscious, giving him mixed emotions about her lying and saying she was fine when she clearly wasn't.
"I've got her," Scott told Allison, putting Erica in his arm, trying to hold her down. "Go check on Matt." Allison got up, giving one glance towards Sage who was cradled in Stiles arms as he tried to get her to wake up, sending pleads into her ear and he kept brushing her hair back. She, then, nearly crawled over to Matt, trying to avoid the shards of glass and scattered books.
"He's alive!" She called over to Scott.
Stiles looked up from his girlfriend, trying to ignore the extreme heart palpitations he was going through right now staring at her unconscious and with blood on her head. "She needs to get to a hospital!"
"D-Derek, we both need Derek," Erica struggled to speak as she continued to seize in Scott's arms. When Scott repeated taking them to the hospital, Erica did her best to shake her head. "Derek!"
"Go," Allison answered. Scott shook his head, looking down at Erica. There was only way for this to go down. There were three conscious, two unconscious, and one seizing. There's no way anyone can not be present. "You need to take care of them, Scott. Look at Erica. Look at Sage. You need to take care of them. I'll call an ambulance for Matt, just go."
"It feels like it means something."
Allison shook her head. "Scott, you need to go. Erica needs help, and Stiles isn't going to leave Sage. Now go." She couldn't be selfish because the only way for it to work would be for Scott and Sage to stay behind with her and wait for the ambulance while Stiles struggles to take Erica, and she knows that there is no way that would work because Stiles would refuse to leave Sage.
Scott frowns but kisses Allison on the forehead, going back in the aisle to pick up Erica while Stiles lifts up his girlfriend. On the way out, Stiles held Sage tighter to his chest, praying that she was going to be okay.
♐ ♐ ♐ ♐ ♐ ♐
"Hold her up!"
Derek and Scott rushed over to Erica, Scott having propped up the upper half of her body while Derek held her legs to try and keep her stable. Stiles sat off to the side, Sage still unconscious in his arms. Derek just ordered that Stiles take off his plaid shirt and press it to the wound on her head. Stiles did so, and now he was just waiting for the damn blonde to wake the hell up so he could shout at her for lying to him about being okay. He glanced to see that Derek and Scott were trying to help Erica. "Is she dying?"
"She might. Okay, this is going to hurt." Derek grabbed a hold of Erica's arm, twisting it until there was a sickening crack and she started to scream in pain. "It will trigger the healing process, but I still have to get the venom out, this is where it's really going to hurt." Derek's claws dug deep into Erica, and there was an even worse deafening screech from Erica's mouth.
When that process was over, Erica having fallen asleep due to the extreme amounts of pain she was forced to deal with today, Derek moved over to Sage. Stiles glared at him, wanting to jerk his girlfriend's body away before the Alpha could touch her, but he knew that Derek would know how to help. Derek glowered at the teenage boy before moving to place a hand on the blonde's head, trying to feel her temperature. It stung to see her unconscious in someone else's arms, considering every time something like this happened, she was always in his'. Or in some cases, the asshole she used to associate with. But seeing a girl he considered his little sister injured, no matter how many times it's happened or how many times they fight, made him go into a state of panic.
