《The Devil I Love | Jikook Smut |》Chapter 56: The Odd One Out

Jungkook's eyes remained locked onto the monster that was staring at him in return. He had no other words to say once the Director's eyes feasted on his soul. Eating away at his ease and making him become uncomfortable in seconds. Jeon Jungkook of course, had no idea what the man thought of him so, he only hoped to return a smile but he instantly found it too difficult to do in that cold second.
The Director held his glare over Jungkook for a long minute which felt like hours on end. It wasn't until Jungkook heard Namjoon let out a quick exhale and fix his posture.
"I... feel like I'm coming down with something. I can't stay here long enough so, please... take care of Jimin for me. I'm going to the pharmacy," Namjoon whispered to Jungkook and noticed the Director approaching the two instantly. Almost curious to know what they were whispering about.
"Pharmacy? Namjoon, are-"
Before Jungkook could finish his own sentence, the Director walked in front of the two and carried a warming smile that only seemed cold in Namjoon's eyes since he was well aware of the hell he could raise upon anyone who dared to test him. Jungkook silenced himself, observing every detail to the man's cryptic smile engraving into his mind. The Director seemed warm and happy with his smile but the scar over his face told a different story Jungkook was scared to read.
"Jeon Jungkook, it's such a pleasure to finally meet you!" The Director spoke happily and watched the two bow in front of him. "The talented young entrepreneur, finally standing before me. I'm flattered to be in your presence."
Namjoon grew sick of hearing his boss speak to Jungkook as if the monster himself wasn't losing sleep to find the photographer Jimin adored. This caused the manager to remain silent as the Director held his hand out towards Jungkook and shook hands. Jungkook of course, had no idea what this man truly was and shook his hand, starting to catch onto something wrong the moment Namjoon silenced himself.
"Boss, I will be stepping out," Namjoon mentioned and watched the Director turn his head and tilt it in his direction. Letting Jungkook's hand go in order to fold his own arms right after.
"Where are you off to? Won't you stay and watch?"
"I'm... not well, I have to go to the pharmacy..." Namjoon mentioned and cleared his throat. "I'm getting very nauseous."
The Director took a second longer to glare at Namjoon with the most uneasy smile Jungkook has ever seen. The cryptic tension between the two deepened and left the atmosphere thickening to the point where Jungkook could only hope to step back and try to find out what caused them to behave this way towards each other. For sure, Jungkook just knew that Namjoon did not like his own boss for a reason that went further than just a relationship between a boss and an employee.
"That's fine, Namjoon, I hope you feel better," The Director finally answered. Cutting through the thick tension and watching as Namjoon only nodded his head and walked away instantly. Leaving Jungkook with the monster just to protect Jimin the best he could. Namjoon didn't want to leave so suddenly, but he knew that with the Director there, the office was left vacant for the first time in a while. He just knew the obsessive monster just couldn't miss a photoshoot with Jimin in it.

"It's... such a pleasure to meet you too, Sir," Jungkook followed after. Starting to catch onto the needles poking at his skin the second he stood in front of the Director. With this, memories of what Jimin would say about this man when they slipped from his mouth, began to submerge. Jungkook didn't need to look far into his thoughts now to know that this man wasn't as kind as he tried to make himself out to be.
"Jungkook, when Jimin mentioned you to me and asked to work with you, I couldn't help but to become curious! I'm just dying to know what type of man you are and what really makes you You are so special and talented." The Director's words were gentle, but Jungkook began to realize that there must have been a reason why Jimin would react the way he normally did towards the man. But of course, Jungkook just didn't want to assume the worst.
"The odd one out?" Jungkook asked curiously, and then watched the twisted smile deepen over the Director's face. On the other hand, his voice remained gentle towards the young man.
"Well of course, Jimin had many... many... photographers before, I just wonder, what makes you so special?" The Director continued to ask. That's when Jungkook began to catch onto the second the Director's words didn't seem so genuine. Those were ugly words decorated beautifully in order to come off kind when it truly wasn't. "You're such a talented man, maybe it's the ability to turn your passion into a business! You don't know how honored I am to be in the presence of a man who is far beyond this world at such a young age. Despite Jimin's many... many... photographers being real professionals, you seem like the best one because you can carry your own weight, and yet, you're not a professional."
"Oh...um, I'm glad you think that wa-"
"Don't mention it, I'm only stating facts. Please, we should meet up for lunch one day. Maybe not today, but some day whenever you're available!" The Director continued and watched Jungkook smile, becoming uncomfortable from the way this man became too sweet right off the bat, but Jungkook was never afraid of him.
From afar, Jimin finally caught onto the two and his heart began to race at the sight of them conversing. Jimin didn't notice the second the director stepped in since he was getting his makeup for the set done, but now that his eyes were set at the two, he couldn't help but to grow petrified. Wondering about the many things the Director could tell Jungkook in order to scare him off. On the other hand, Jungkook remained there, smiling and nodding his head. Whatever went on, Jimin didn't like the idea of Jungkook talking to such a monster.
After Jimin was all set and wearing his outfit for the photoshoot, he only longed to avoid approaching the Director, but for Jungkook, he had no choice. The happiness that filled his mind before, made Jimin confident enough to push his feet forward and approach the two. Every step sank further into the ground, Jimin was doing well the more he looked at Jungkook but the moment the Director took a glance back and gave him a true smile, Jimin stopped in place and his breathing increased. Suddenly catching the attention of the young photographer.

"Jungkook..." Jimin thought of the young man as the photographer finally caught onto Jimin's fearful stare towards the Director. Completely unaware that he was going to be present at the photoshoot.
"Jimin, you look great!" Jungkook spoke up. Trying to ease Jimin and walk up to him, but fight off the urge he had to embrace him in his arms just to make sure he was alright. "Are you ready for our shoot?"
"Oh... I-I... am..." Jimin sputtered and almost instantly, the Director stood in his way from speaking to Jungkook.
"You look amazing like always, angel," The Director whispered carefully. Standing in front of the model and leaving Jungkook to raise a brow instantly.
"I didn't... know you would be here today, Director," Jimin pushed through his weak fear. Wanting to be strong in the sight of the older man since Jungkook was close by. With that, Jungkook stepped to the side and continued to stare at Jimin in concern. This was enough to make Jimin look over at the young man once more before the Director stood in his way again to get his attention.
"You know I can't turn down an invitation~ I'm so glad to see you, I know you will be great today, like always," Joo-won commented and with that, he lowered his voice into a whisper to speak to Jimin again. "My... angel..."
Abruptly, Jungkook stepped in between the two and moved Jimin to the side carefully. Looking into the eyes of the Director the moment he stood too close to Jimin.
"Pardon me, I think Jimin and I should begin our shoot now that he's ready, wouldn't you think so too?" Jungkook asked and looked at the man in his eyes. Jungkook understood that the Director was his boss as well, although he wasn't afraid of him. Even if the older man's glares left him anxious in the beginning, Jungkook just knew something was wrong the moment the Director stood in front of the one he needed to protect.
"Right... good.. thinking, Jungkook," The Director spoke into broken words as he took frequent pauses to continue the smile he wanted to get rid of. Following after, he stepped back and tilted his head at the sight of the photographer. "We shouldn't be wasting any time, thank you Jungkook."
Jimin looked down to see the way Jungkook held his hand carefully and protected him from the monster he truly feared. Even if Jungkook was capable of giving him strength, the brave man still longed to protect Jimin in front of the Director he could never stand up to at all. Jungkook knew nothing about what the Director truly was, but it didn't stop him from doing what he promised.
"My hero..." Jimin thought in his head, gazing at the way Jungkook's hands slowly intertwined with him just behind his back discreetly. All while the Director only dared to stare longer until he couldn't take it anymore and walked away from the duo. Not bringing any attention to them at all.
After a while, Namjoon raced down the hallway to the building of Jimin's entertainment. There, his eyes met with the double doors of the Director's office and let out a sharp breath the moment his eyes latched onto the cold handles to the door. Namjoon was calm for now; his breathing was steady and his hands no longer trembled. He just hoped to get in and out of the office as soon as possible.
"I just need to access any footage with Director Sung and Jimin within that laptop, download them into my drive and finally take him down like this. He will be powerless..." Namjoon thought in his head and opened the door to the office. Surprised it was unlocked the whole time.
Namjoon quickly stepped in and closed the door behind him. At this point, he didn't care that he was being caught on camera right now, what he planned was something that could put an end to his job, but for Jimin, he was willing to risk everything for his safety in a world filled with endless dangers. As Namjoon walked in, the vacant room left the young man on edge, but he knew he couldn't stop to dwell on the feeling further. He had to be light on his feet.
Seconds slipped through his fingers like sand, Namjoon sat in front of the laptop where even sitting on a comfortable office chair just didn't seem right to him. He brushed off the darts shooting at him constantly like a target as he lifted the top of the laptop and was greeted to the lock screen. There, Namjoon froze up and tried to think back at the many things the man would tell him.
"Fuck... he has a password! It could be some tricky code I would never solve!" Namjoon panicked and ran his hand through his soft hair. He instantly began to guess numbers he thought up of before seeing a hint underneath the box where he had yet to put in the password.
Within seconds, Namjoon recalled an endless hour with the Director where the man said something similar to those words in a meeting they had. As soon as he recalled the answer to the hint, he typed in Jimin's name and instantly got in. Rolling his eyes at how simple it was to get through the Director's security.
"Typical... now I feel stupid for thinking that crazy man would think of something other than Jimin for his password!"
