《The Devil I Love | Jikook Smut |》Chapter 19: Tonight's Plans

Namjoon could count the seconds leading to minutes of how long the silence between them became. He wanted to say something else after that, but he just couldn't. The silence wrapped around his mouth and drowned out other words Namjoon hoped to say. Even if they didn't exchange any words, gentle sounds of fabric rustling through their every move were amplified.
"No one...?" Director Sung asked as he only let out a scoff before fixing his tie right after. "I could have sworn you must have seen something... heard something... seen someone..." the man rambled on, but Namjoon only played on with the act. Not knowing what would be done to the indie photographer if he was known by the scariest man in the entertainment industry.
Namjoon knew how much power the Director held just under the CEO position, he wasn't that high up in the business, but Namjoon was fully aware that Jimin was not above him. The Director made it rather obvious that he tended to become highly overprotective of Jimin. Everyone loved the angel and what he wanted was what he received at all times. It was the Director alone who molded Jimin into that image and he longed to keep him that way if it was the last thing he did. However, Namjoon knew that was the biggest flaw that could ever happen to Jimin's career. Everyone loved the innocent concept, but not Jimin himself.
"Can't say that I have, Boss..." Namjoon mentioned and looked over the time once more. "Why do you... want to take time out of my day to track down what makes Jimin happy? If something out there makes him happy and no one else knows about it, maybe it's for the best. To have and know something no one else has access to. That could be the reason why it makes him happy," Namjoon hoped his words could change the way the Director felt about wanting to make Jimin happy for the sake of his image, but he was wrong to ever believe it could change the way that man thought.
"I don't think you understand... and I don't think you will understand what Jimin means to me... you won't ever know so much about what we have, so I might as well stop it right here... if someone out there is making him smile, I have to know," The Director mentioned and watched as Namjoon raised a brow.
"You're a little too into your job, don't you think?" Namjoon mentioned and watched the man shake his head. "You do realize that other Directors aren't really this immersed into their idols' lives... you do know that, right?"
"Just a director... hm? Again, Namjoon... you wouldn't know that my position goes further than just being a director to Jimin..." The man concluded. With that he raised a hand and looked at the man. "I'll let you go... I do apologize for taking up your time. If I knew you didn't know a thing about this, I wouldn't have wasted your time. Please keep an eye on Jimin. Thank you."

"Thank you," Namjoon regretted saying before he bowed and left the office so suddenly. He knew there was no way a meeting like this was professional at all. He walked out of the office and returned to a car that was going to take him to Jimin's penthouse right after.
Eventually, he reached the building and noticed that Jimin was running late to yet another photoshoot. He wasn't upset with Jimin at all since he knew the man wasn't well most of the time, so he only hoped to guide him to the right state of mind. Namjoon waited in the car for five minutes before getting out of it and walking into the building. Calling Jimin, but he would never answer on time.
"Oh, Jimin... this is every morning, please don't scare me like this..." Namjoon thought in his head as he made his way up to the expensive penthouse floor. After a while, Namjoon reached the floor and stepped in, quickly looking around the modern living room area before rushing to Jimin's spacious bedroom.
Within seconds, he opened the door to see Jimin laying there, silently looking out the window close by and never making the effort to start his day at all. Namjoon sighed in relief before walking forward to stand in the way Jimin's gaze focused on.
"Park Jimin, have you ever thought of sending me a message? You're late for a photoshoot..."
"Oh... that... you know, I don't really want to get up today..." Jimin whispered and finally looked up at the man as he kept the blanket tented over his smal body. "I want to stay here... and my manager should reschedule for me."
"Ah, don't say it like that... I'm not only your manager, I'm your friend! I'm sorry I couldn't be here. I had a meeting but it finished sooner than I expected," Namjoon mentioned. Not wanting to go into detail as his goal remained the same every morning; to be able to get Jimin out of bed and start his day. As a friend to the famous model, Namjoon loved being there for Jimin more than managing him around.
"Could I clear my schedule out today? I don't want to have another photoshoot... I liked it better when I was at The Golden Closet Studios. I actually felt happy there..."
"Jimin, you know it's hard for me to make those decisions as your friend and your manager. I know you did, so... why don't we just get through this one today and maybe then, I can clear your schedule for Saturday... we could do something as friends..."
"Like what...?" Jimin asked as he finally turned and looked at the man.
"Maybe... shopping or how about clubbing? We could get some drinks and have fun!"
"You know an 'angel' like me can't be seen at a club. That will kill my reputation, imagine what the Director would say? I would never hear the end of that..." Jimin replied softly before Namjoon sat down on the bed and patted his shoulder carefully.

"Well? No one is going to know if you wear a wig, put on some sunglasses and a mask. It could be done! Come on, we can have fun and take a break from hard work. I know it's not good to take a day off, but I don't want this to affect you. Let's get through this week and celebrate on Saturday with a few drinks, alright?"
"Alright..." Jimin replied before sitting up and getting ready to start his day. He wasn't much into clubbing since he never really has the time to go out for these types of things. But since Namjoon offered a break from all the pressure, Jimin didn't want to turn him down. Jimin knew that on the inside he really needed the break.
As the days went by, Jimin would call Jungkook every night so he could avoid crying himself to sleep as he spent the evening alone like always. They didn't have much of a conversation to stir when some topics were very personal to Jimin and since the celebrity didn't want to let Jungkook in so easily, he would avoid it constantly. Leaving Jungkook to wonder but never catch onto the idea that Jimin didn't want to trust him one day and lose him the next. Things like these scared Jimin already. They went on to speak about interests and have small talk. Jimin was willing to have any sort of conversation with Jungkook as long as it made the horrible feelings he longed to escape from, disappear completely.
Once Saturday came around, Jungkook was at home after work; already dressed up for the night. Jeon Jungkook knew that very soon, he would get a call from Jimin just like the night before. Tonight, he was going clubbing to get his mind off many things. Jungkook was glad that he was going out with his only friend Kim Taehyung, but even when this night was for him to forget anything that could confuse him, he couldn't help but to wonder when Jimin would meet up with him. He still waited, but figured Jimin was too busy to have any free time.
Jungkook dressed in a black turtleneck shirt, matching black boots and ripped skinny jeans. He then placed a silver necklace around his neck and small hoop earrings to go along with it. Jungkook looked over at his reflection and unknowingly smiled as he thought of Jimin, maybe after tonight he wouldn't be confused and could finally take a break from it all. Throughout the week, he did enjoy talking to Jimin more but he had yet to move any closer to the idol. Taehyung mentioned it was okay to have two people of interest and eventually grow and see who he had feelings for the most, but Jungkook just couldn't tell if he even had feelings for Jimin. It was all too soon to tell. But for Yoongi, he wasn't sure if he wanted the older employee of his or aspired to be like him.
Just as Jungkook began to daydream, he shook his head and let out a sharp exhale. "No, not tonight... tonight I'm not thinking of them! I'm thinking of having fun like a normal young adult!" Jungkook assured himself and before he could look away from his reflection, his phone began to ring.
Quickly, Jungkook rushed over to his phone on the bed; hoping it was Park Jimin so he could talk to him for the night before going to the club, but it was only Taehyung calling. That's when Jungkook tilted his head and face palmed. Finally realizing that he was thinking of Jimin the whole time when he tried not to.
"Hello?"
"Jungkook! Are you ready for the night of your life?! I can't believe I'm actually going clubbing with my boss! Don't worry, I won't drink too much tonight just so you can lose yourself in the moment. I can drive us home!"
"But you don't have a driver's license..." Jungkook mentioned once Taehyung became silent. "What could you possibly do with a car?"
"I can crash it~" Taehyung teased and instantly made the younger man laugh. "Fine, I volunteer to drink for you tonight!"
"You're such a good person, Taehyung. What would I do without you?" Jungkook teased along and listened to the older man laugh along to the jokes. "I'll come by your place in a bit, send me your address and I'll find you."
"Oh, my knight in shining armor! I'll send it right away, Jungkook! Thanks for coming with me tonight."
"Of course, I'll see you then," Jungkook concluded and ended the call right after. Finally picking his car keys up and receiving the address momentarily.
Jungkook got into the car and noticed that Jimin was taking a while to call. So, the young photographer decided that he would call first. Knowing well that Jimin was the one that would always call first every night when he was able to so Jungkook decided to take control just this once even when he had plans to forget everything for tonight.
The young man called Jimin three times in the car before he finally decided to stop and drive to pick Taehyung up. He wondered what Jimin was up to at the moment that took him a while to answer, maybe he was being overworked or had a long day that he fell asleep early. Either way, this was enough to make Jungkook stop thinking of the man since he believed Jimin wasn't able to call. At least, this was just for the moment before Jungkook's mind would return to the idea of Jimin like always. Even if this night was dedicated to relieve his mind, there was no such thing like that in his world.

Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
