《Son of Chaos || Percy Jackson》Turning Athena into The Monster

The dried leaves crunched underneath my feet nosily as I walked around the boarder of the woods, letting the sound of the monsters stirring inside the woods lull me into a quiet trial of though. Grieving over someone you didn't know was truly dead was something I didn't know I would experience before - in fact, I do not think many would have even think about something like this to ever happen to someone.

The thought of Percy being dead seems to rock the entire camp to the core - granted, what we did was not fair and it was bound to chase him away, but when you are under the impression that someone did something as serious as someone murdering their parents would have caused a lot of us to turn on him. But we didn't think that it would lead to his death - after a few months of watching the news, and the murderer coming out to confess, we spent it running around trying to find the man himself.

However, the idea of him becoming suicidal was something that didn't occur to us - as childish as this sounds, it was hard for me to imagine the usually cheerful man who has gone through so much, to be able to have his thoughts turn so dark. He has always seem to be the most cheerful person ever, being the funny one during the most hardest times in our lives; he was just so...Percy. He was the leader. The glue that holds us together.

The person who we could all count on.

Looking down at the floor below me, I let my thoughts wander for a moment; letting myself indulge in the happy memories that we have once shared. A soft smile tugged against my lips as I imagined his infamous lopsided grin that sends butterflies to my stomach, his smirks he gives me when he says "I told you so.", even to the times when he would team up with Leo and Jason to sass their way through the camp on Saturdays, blaring music as they walked down the camp like it was their modelling catwalk while the others laughed at their weirdness.

"We're just trying to spread some cheer, babe." He would say as Leo pulled out the "Team Leo" stunt. "We never have fun in camp."

The more I think about him, the more angry I felt towards myself as I think back to about how it all happened. How I regret drinking anything Jake gave me, leaving me in a love-induced trance to not be aware of what happened. How beyond pissed at myself for not fighting the effects of the potion once I have woken up from the effects. How furious was I to find out that Poseidon disowned the most loyal man we have ever known, then having them pushing Jason away as well. Like they were broken toys. Like they were nothing.

"Hello Annabeth." An all too familiar voice said behind me, as I rolled my eyes in annoyance; turning back to face the annoying man who had a sick grin on his face. "Asshole." I greeted with an eyeroll, making him send me a mocking pout as I scowled over at her. "That isn't very nice, is it, Wise Girl?" He taunted just as I felt someone hitting me on the back of my head before I can stab him to death - darkness surrounded me as I fell onto the ground before me.

"Do you need a hand?"

I turned away from my map with a wide eyed look as I turned to face the door, finding the sight of one of the mysterious group of soldiers, Amber, watching me closely form the doorway of my quiet cabin. She was dressed in her armour with the hood of her clock off her head, her bow and arrows slung over her shoulder and what seems to be a hunting knife strapped against her hip firmly. "Lady Amber, how may I help you?"

The sound of my words made her grow amused as I looked over at her curiously, watching as she stare at the magical fire burning in the middle of my cabin before she looked back over at me through her lashes. "Please - we are all equals when we boil down to the very substance of nature. No need for formal terms."

I nodded slowly at her words, not knowing how to answer her question as I sent her a warm smile instead, changing the topic. "Is there something I can help you with, Amber?" I asked as she gave me a mischievous smirk, telling me immediately who her older brother was. "I know how you look at him." She stated simply as I frowned slightly in confusion, trying to fake confusion even as I felt how my heartbeat leaps in fear. "I'm sorry, I am not really catching on -"

"Don't lie to me, Arty." She started wit a teasing smirk, watching me squirm a little under her state. "We're all girls. Now tell me," she start with a grin as she walked around the hearth, making me bite my lip awkwardly as I lean back closer to my planning table once she has stopped right in front of me, " - do you have a crush on my brother, Commander Omega?"

"What?! No! I'm a swore maiden, remember?" I exclaimed out in what I was hoping was a disgusted as I stare at her with wide eyes, squirming a little at the smirk that was tugging against her lips; telling me that my act did not prove the lie I tried to throw at her. "I knew it."

Desperately staring at her, I bite my lip and squirm underneath her words - Gods, was this what it felt like to be a human? "Please don't tell anyone." I said in a serious and desperate tone as she shrugged her shoulders carelessly, acting like we were talking about the weather as I can't help but bite my lip nervously. "Sure thing, Artemis. But don't break his heart, he can be quite emotional. And that might end in the wiping of every creation on Earth."

I stared at her, biting my lip a little in fear as she gave me a serious look. "He wouldn't be that stupid to do that...will he?" I asked her awkwardly as she shrugs, scratching her head as she looked out the window and stared at the very man we were talking about as he talked to one of the daughters of Hephaestus as they talked animatedly about a plan on a scroll she held in front of them.

"I really do not want to find out that answer."

"What is going on?" I asked once i entered the Big House in confusion, where a meeting was being conducted. suddenly; drawing Artemis and I away from her cabin suddenly. The room was crowded with the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus, showing just how serious they were; making me bite my lip a little as I made my way towards my brother. "Omega, what is it?"

"Some of our sources said that End has managed to sneak into camp and has captured Annabeth Chase." Percy said stiffly and I frowned, squeezing his shoulder gently before I walked towards the map in the middle of the room with a serious look on my face. "This doesn't make sense." I muttered to myself as I leaned against the wooden table, watching the pieces on the map that were moving, each piece representing both our forces and End's that were constantly moving and fighting against each other.

Placing both of my hands on the table, I scanned over the table for a moment before I moved the lightning bolt that indicates our forces towards a Hydra figurine, watching as the small wooden animal burn up in flames before I moved the piece back towards the medical ports in a few locations over the place. "End wants something."

"How do you know?" Ares grunted out from the corner of the room as I glared at him, staring at the arrogant War God. "Because, End doesn't take random campers; he planned how he wanted his victim to end. That's his job - to end something so there will be balance again. Tipping the scales so the world wouldn't fall into utter chaos." I said casually as I moved another piece with the name Hazel. L on it towards the mountains, my eyes looking over the group of rowdy centaurs on the mountain before moving that piece to them - feeling Percy's heavy gaze on my back. I know he's going to be like that - when this Hazel girl was someone he actually knows and fought side-by-side with during the war.

"We all know the story of Chaos - how he created the first Titan and how he was the person who set the foundation for the world we live in today. Because of this, he was the creator of his siblings, End and Order. Each of them are enemies, yes, but they are aware of each others' importance to keep the balance." I said as i looked up to meet everyone, noticing how everyone seems to be hanging onto my every word.

Even Aphrodite lowered down her magazine enough to look over at the top of it.

I looked down and moved the pieces absentmindedly, watching as the monsters were being defeated almost instantly while a swell of pride filled my chest at how amazing these campers were. "And that is to ensure the balance of the universe." I said and pushed myself off the table, looking at the pieces on the table as i clasped my hands behind my back in our normal stance, a stance that we usually do whenever we are around people.

"The saying "Too much of a good thing can turn bad" comes from this very struggle; the battle to restore Order. End is as powerful as Chaos, and is a heartless person at that, but he does not act without a soul reason." I said as I watched how the Greek and Roman campers were winning small fights, moving them around the field and not meeting anyone's eyes. "We, the Chaos Army, was created by Chaos to restore this very balance to the scales. Whenever End wants to destroy an innocent planet, we step in and put a stop to him. Both Chaos and End cannot interfere face-to-face if they can avoid it.

"If they were to come face to face, universe will be ripped to shreds, time would stop and the universe would stop moving, the thin veil of Mist that covers up the supernatural from the mortals will fade. Everything that has been ever made, will be destroyed in an instant." I said, snapping my finger at the word 'instant', making them all jump and I couldn't help my cheekily tugging at the corner of my lips; one which was growing at how nervous the Gods and Goddesses got as they sent me not amused looks.

"But that's a tale for another day." I stated casually and shrugged my shoulders, looking back down at the table before I glanced at the holographic image of Camp Half-Blood that was spinning slowly; my eyes scanning over the camp as I lightly tapped the space next to my map. "Now we know about our enemy's purpose, we shall see what needs to be planned and start on that." I said before an unbelievable pain shot through me, making me clutch my shoulder.

"Amber?" Percy asked as he grabbed my arm, looking at my shoulder with an intense look on his face as I looked up at him with a pained look on my face. "Why is your blood red?"

I look down at the bandage with wide eyes and felt my body hurt even more as I watched the blood on my wound, watching as it stained the white linen a bright red as Apollo and Lee came rushing over. "Let me see that." Lee demanded and stood up on a chair, looking at my shoulder for a moment once he has angled me down so he can examine it closely."You're blood should be silver; not red." He mumbled, grabbing my arm firmly while Apollo wrapped his arm around my waist when I stumbled a little; blinking my eyes to get rid of the black dots dancing before me.

"Let's go, Amber. We need to get that shoulder checked - don't you give me that look." He said firmly and ignored my pouty look before pulling me away, Apollo staying by my side as I was led away by the two healers; not listening to them bounce ideas off each other while I tried not to pass out into the healing God's arms.

"She'll be fine." Jason said as he patted my shoulder as I watch my sister being frog walked away by Apollo and Lee; sending my an encouraging smile as I looked over at him. "She's been through worse. Stop worrying." He said and turned me so I was facing the map again, where the wooden monsters were being destroyed while he tried to calm my nerves.

"First things first," Athena started off, forcing me to tear my eyes away from the door to face her again, "- how do we save my daughter?"

"Usually, we can't do much when someone is captured; sending a mission will be risky because we are wearing our army too thin. Maybe the Spartans can do it, but it risky." Waves told her sincerely and Athena frowned, sending him a look. "How so?" She asked and I sighed tiredly. "Isn't the goddess of wisdom suppose to figure things out earlier? It means your daughter will have a bigger chance of dying because if she gets caught escaping with my soldiers, she will be killed alongside them."

"Isn't there anyway we can save her?" She asked desperately and we shook our heads, all of us sharing a look as we all tried to think of a solution. "Unless someone turns themselves into the enemy, the risk of saving your daughter is too dangerous. I am sorry, M'Lady, but I have to think about the safety of the rest of my army and of the campers under my protection." I said and she looked down in despair, making me feel sorry for the woman - she was a mother after all. A mother's love is very powerful.

"Don't worry." I said and she looked up to face me, sending her a reassuring smile as I nodded my head gently. "You're daughter is a fighter."

"Well, the blood was just a false alarm." Lee announced as he entered the room, Apollo coming in behind him and helping Amber into a chair next to the table as she clutched onto his arm for support; sending him a smile even as she winced in pain. "The poison was just making its way out of her system. She'll be fine." He said to the room, sending the last sentence by way as I walked towards her side.

A nudge made me look away from my baby sister into the eyes of a smirking Jason, making me roll my eyes at him. "I told you so." He stated smugly as the Chaos army watched on in amusement, shaking their heads at our antics. "Just - shut up, man."

Amber rolled her eyes at the both of us as she leans forward, moving one piece towards the woods at the end of the map, but dropping the piece when the wooden piece started to vibrate in her hands violently, smoke coming out from it. "Ah hah!" She cheered out loudly and circles the spot with a marker, watching it glow out with a satisfied smile. "I think this is where the other stronghold is." She grinned and moved the smoking piece, which was a stallion standing on its hind legs towards the medic camp; stopping the smoke and the vibrations coming from the wooden piece immediately.

"This looks like a game of chess." Zeus commented out of the blue as I nodded, looking over Amber as she moved pieces to random pieces on the table, gesturing to the board as Luke noted down for her on a piece of paper. "It is. Moving the campers from one place to another is simple; a portal will open for them and they have jump in, or not it'll keep pestering them. But the bad part is we wouldn't know who exactly was lost." I said as Amber cursed in another language, dropping a piece which instantly burnt the monster, pulling her hand back in alarm as the wooden monster left a patch of ash left where the monster once stood; making me stand beside her immediately.

"Stupid monsters." she muttered underneath and moved the piece back towards a pack of Hellhounds, which were slowly destroying one group as I rubbed the back of her shoulders, making her relax into my hold as she looks up at me gratefully.

"How is it you know where to put each piece?" Athena asked as she watched her in awe, getting very interested in how everything was moving on the table as Amber shrugged sincerely; still moving pieces all over the map; giving me look when I told her not to move her arm too much as I helped her move the pieces to the further places away. "I don't know."

Dusting the crumbled piece that Ares placed earlier towards the medical camp in the middle of the woods, I sighed and watched as it slowly put itself back to a smaller version of it's original self; sending a sense of dread into me when I realised that there were way more casualties and immediately sending them back to camp. "Go and make sure they are okay. Prepare any burial shrouds if needed." I told Lee softly as he nods, walking out silently with a few of the army members walked behind him to help.

"We are wasting time." Arrow suddenly said out loud and I sighed, looking at the map on the table as she continued on. "We can be out there fighting but we are here, watching people die." She stated and i turn to face her, giving her a serious look as she stood head on, staring into my eyes to see who will give up first. "If we leave camp now, this place wouldn't stand a chance. For fucks sake, Arrow, we have children involved!" I snapped as she leans back a little, biting her lip nervously when she noticed how angry I actually looked. "Protect the base. These campers aren't weak children, they are fighters and they knew what was going to happen when they agreed to fight by our side."

"Listen to your dumb commander for once; he's finally making sense." Amber said and waved her hand at us, lifting the tense mood in the room immediately as Forge snorted, leaning into Beauty as she tucked herself underneath his arm happily. "At least I'm not the only one who notices." He grumbled as I looked away from Arrow, a hand over my heart with a pained look on my face. "Are you saying I never make sense? I do, whenever my brain catches up faster then my impulsive self." I defended as the Chaos army sniggered softly between themselves, and Luke reached towards me and slapped me on the back playfully. "Commander Omega has finally admit it." He said as I rolled my eyes playfully, elbowing him gently to get him to move away. "Well, Amber is the smarter one in our duo for a reason."

"True." Amber said as she huffed at the board, looking at an invisible spot on the surface, making me stare at her curiously. "Hey...what's Annabeth's last name?" She asked suddenly as we all turned to face her, the room's attention drawn to her words. "Chase. Why?" I asked her seriously as Amber tried to touch the spot she was staring at moments before, but a small bolt of blue energy shot at her finger, making her pull her finger back immediately. "I think I found her."

"You did?!" Athena asked hopefully, pushing aside a grumbling Ares and Poseidon to the front of the table as Amber circled a small section of the map, where two more pieces appeared on the map form thin air : Jake and Annabeth.

"That sneaky, no good little arse captured my daughter!" Athena roared out in pure anger, the building shaking at the power hidden in her voice as the dust on the ceiling started to fall everywhere. "When I get my hands on his ungrateful little-"

"OK! We get it!" Jason and Luke exclaimed out in fear at the exact same time as I chuckled at them, shaking my head in amusement as they both stared at her with wide eyes. "Don't say anything else!"

"Looks like we are no longer the only duo in the army." I said and nudge Amber gently, who chuckled in reply as she shakes her head in amusement at the two trying to calm down the angry Goddess to the bet of their abilities. "Just shut up." Was all she said as I grinned softly, kissing her on the head as I watched on with a soft smile on my face; watching how serious she was and felt pride rise in my chest from just how amazing she was. I was one lucky older brother.
