《Whodunnit》New beginning

Birds chirping woke me up every morning; it was the sound of my alarm clock, time for school. This would be my first day in school since the incident. I had spent a month at home mourning the death of my mother. I rolled of bed and headed straight for the bathroom, that day was going to be a long day for me.
“I’ll just ignore all the annoying kids’ questions” I said to myself
At least I was kind of handling this better than dad was, he had become so miserable after her death thinking of possible reasons she had committed suicide. I handled it like a champ compared to him.
I grabbed my jacket and headed to the kitchen for breakfast. My dad was in his apron making pancakes, awesome! Even though he was still his gloomy self
“morning dad”
“morning angel did you sleep well”
“I guess”
I stuffed pancake in my mouth. My dad was struggling to say something because he was constantly clearing his throat. The atmosphere was terribly awkward. I stood up from the kitchen stool and headed for the door
“Amy darling” he finally said
I turned to face him
“what is it”
“you’ll have to attend another school”
“what?”
It hit me harder than a punch I mean what the what? This can’t be happening what about my friends? Just when I started topping my class and he wants me to leave? Not happening
“why on earth would I leave liberty high?”
“you know I was just thinking you’ve missed school for a month now why don’t you start somewhere new” he replied
He sighed as he cleaned his hands on his apron before he placed it on the counter.
Lame excuse I thought how does that give me a reason to leave everything behind it would be even harder to cope in a new school right?

“I’m not leaving” I said firmly as I crossed my arms
“I wasn’t asking you sweetie”
I didn’t have anything to say to that, my dad actually made a command not a request or an offer which was very, very unusual then I knew I had to go from tough to pleading
“okay dad just for the week please I need to say goodbye to my friends”
“No” he said sharply
That was painful, he just shut me up completely. I stood there completely shot of words, my mouth had suddenly become dry with tears gradually blurring my vision. This man in front of me was another person entirely what happened to my normal dad that listened to reason and couldn’t say no
“darling I’m not trying to be mean its just the best for you” he said as cold as before
He wasn’t even looking at me he was busy checking the fridge for milk as he rendered his ‘apology’
“you won’t let me go even if it’s just to clear my stuff?”
“no, Eric has done that”
Eric is the family driver, home lesson tutor, adviser basically everything. I’ve known him all my life he’s been the family assistant for up to twenty years and PS he shed the most tears in my mum’s burial
“fine”
I ran upstairs as fast as I could almost tripping on the last step. I fell on my bed and let the tears rush down my cheek as I cried silently. It felt like the whole world was turning on me first it was my mum’s death then it was the neighbors’ kids that stopped coming over when the news of my mum taking her own life spread. Then it was Ashley
That reminds me let me call Ashley she might help me talk to my dad she is as close to him as I am. But no Ashley and I had a fight when she tried to convince me that my mum might have killed herself due to mental stress or depression. I didn’t believe her because my mum was perfect, she couldn’t have been depressed about anything. It was more than an ordinary suicide…

Slowly I drifted off to sleep I guess it’s just normal to sleep after you think and cry too much.
I woke up around 3:00pm, I guess sleeping was one of my numerous talents. I needed to get some fresh air so I stepped out through the front door to check the mail since my dad had gone out and he never checks it.
I found just one letter in the box and it seemed it was from Derek in my school now former school anyway
‘hi Amy this is the fourth letter I’m writing. Your number has been unreachable so I’ve been sending messages to your dad but I guess he’s been busy I just wanted to check on you and I hope you’re doing well.
PS: check my other letters and when you get this call me
Love, derek’
I had a lot to catch up on I’d have received tons of messages from my friends I forgot I even disabled my sim when the calls got so unbearable. I ran upstairs to my dad’s room to check if my other letters were there. I checked his desk, his drawers, his wardrobe but they were nowhere to be found
As I was about to leave the room I saw something pretty unusual; my dad’s trash basket was filled with letters that were meant for me
But why on earth would my dad throw my letters away?
