《Whodunnit 2》Chapter 26 - Sweet Scent Of Death

After a few hours to give the guests the opportunity to grab lunch and discuss what they found in their areas, Giles gathered the guests by the boat dock to read the next riddle.
Giles quickly stuffed the note back inside his tuxedo pocket, slightly squirming from the killer heat. Meanwhile, the five guests stood in silence.
"That's it?" Kendra asked out loud.
Chantal scratched her head "That's been the shortest riddle yet."
It didn't take long for the two groups to split up. Brett & Chantal stayed on the boat dock while the other females walked back towards the main resort building.
-
The trio decided to head to the place where they thought the most smell would be - the kitchen.
The girls all knew that they had all encountered an aroma of smells coming from the kitchen during their stay there. They always stumbled upon the one and only chef employed on the island during his pacy cooking, under instruction he could never interact with the guests and would have to politely escort them from the kitchen to continue his cooking.
It took almost no time at all for the females to rush over to the spacious kitchen.
Kendra & Grace quickly searched over the cupboards, sniffing intently as they threw several boxes of food onto the marble floor. Countless boxes of cereal and pasta split upon impact, causing a messy scene on the floor.
Meanwhile, Cecilia was carefully analysing the stoves on the kitchen countertop. She initially thought that maybe there was some sort of rig inside the stove. After lifting the cover to the stove, the single mother made a discovery.
"I found it!" Cecilia celebrated excitedly as she pinched out a tiny scroll of paper from inside the stove.
Whilst the Cuban squinted to look at the tiny font, Kendra & Grace came running over to see what exactly Cecilia found. However, all their hopes were dashed once they saw the text.

A harmony of frustrated sighs filled the kitchen as Cecilia crunched up the paper and stuffed it in her pocket.
Meanwhile (still on the boat dock) Brett & Chantal were gathering their thoughts as to of what the riddle really meant. They knew it was most likely that the others headed straight to the kitchen, so they were going to avoid that area as they knew the killer surely couldn't make it that obvious.
The couple started walking after awhile just to get some surroundings till they decided on an area. Brett & Chantal quickly ran into the spa of the island but found no clues inside.
It then suddenly snapped in Chantal's mind why she had been trying to remember her time in the last known whereabouts recently. It was no denying to the singer that she had remember a rather potent smell from the library. The smell of some sort of female perfume had been lingering in the area whereabouts the laptops was place. Chantal initially thought it might have just had just been Kendra's chosen scent. However, once the two both entered the library after a short time of speed walking, both were met with the familiar smell to Chantal.
"We've got the answer." Chantal said confidently as she approached the small bottles of perfume laid out on the table alongside several documents in expensive looking leather folders.
Whilst Chantal examined the perfume bottle, Brett picked up the document with his name on it and looked over it. It turned out to be a short dossier of himself.
":
"That's so weird." Brett said out loud once Chantal stepped towards him.
"What" Chantal asked back.
"It's my dossier. Normally it's what company's receive when a customer signs up for a vacation like we did. But I never discussed my allergies or criminal record, how did they get a hold of this?" The singer was extremely unnerved knowing the killer potentially had very personal information about the guests in their possession.

Chantal followed the trend and read hers.
"
"Wow, they really do know everything." Chantal was astonished that her two arrests for driving under the influence from a couple of years ago was in her dossier. The killer had obviously done their research very intently.
It made sense that Kristina's & Troy's dossiers needed to be read next.
Thankfully, Chantal knew all about Troy's criminal record thanks to the last known whereabouts. However she had no idea what Kristina's allergen was, and it was clear to her that it just have contributed in the gymnast's murder.
To Brett, it made sense to use the supplies around them and look at the never ending amount of books around them.
Quicker than he thought, Brett found a book on common chemicals (since he thought the lengthy word sounded like a chemical you would have heard about in science class). He was ultimately right, as Chantal found out it was a common fragrance allergen.
"Okay so she could have died from her allergy instead of the knife like we all thought?" Chantal concluded.
The singer nodded along with the blondes theory and thought back to the riddle. They had missed one thing...
"Pump pump"
Brett took a bottle of perfume and sprayed it. At first nothing happened, but eventually it triggered a book from the the same bookshelf they got the chemicals book off of, to stick out.
The book was retrieved and had a blank blue cover. No title.
They both peered inside and noticed it was a diary. To make several diary entries short, Kristina was the one who exposed her own brother to the North Carolina athletics committee about his illegal doping.
The couple of guests were pretty sure they knew what this meant about Kristina's murder but they were still uncertain about Troy's murder. They spent another twenty minutes looking for clues until they decided to look back inside the diary and skip to the last page which was dated to that mornings date. The entry only had two words on it before it seemed to abruptly finish. However, that wasn't the most important thing.
Attached to the last page with a paper clip was a rough sketch of the pool table in the once non destroyed parlour. The guests saw how there was a motion sensor on all of the cues lined up next to the pool table. From the several lines and arrows the diagram, they followed their eyes to the orange ball. It was made clear that once contact was made, the explosion would take place.
The bell rang soon after the discovery.
Whilst Cecilia, Kendra & Grace once all sighed again, Brett & Chantal celebrated. They now knew pretty much what contributed to each death. They just needed to know for for sure if they had the correct assumption on what sibling killed which.
They knew they had to get it correct or it could spell the difference between being spared and scared.

Overseer (Dwarf Fortress x Worm)
A young woman gains the power to make elements of a saved game real. She must then survive the assault of a coordinated attack by some of the deadliest parahumans on the planet - he same group of murderhobos that caused her the mental trauma that resulted in her gaining her powers to begin with. This is a crossover fiction between the most complicated game ever created, 'Dwarf Fortress' by Toady One, and an extensive grimdark superpower genre serial fiction called 'Worm' by Wildbow. It is violent and there are some references to sex in it, so it's probably not fit for young children to read, and persons not familiar with Dwarf Fortress or Worm might be confused by some elements, but I feel confident that it stands reasonably well on it's own. This crossover is complete. I posted it here in it's entirety all at once. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
