《Whodunnit 2》Chapter 25 - Death Note

Shortly after the bodies of the siblings were discovered all of the guests adjourned outside, near the boat dock where they would be making their decisions of where to go for their investigation area.
"Who would like to investigate the crime scene?" Giles asked.
Grace & Brett rose their hands and followed May.
"Who would like to investigate the last known whereabouts, the library?"
Chantal & Kendra rose their hands and followed Sophie.
"That leaves Cecilia. Please follow me Mrs to the morgue:"

"It's worse than I thought," Grace said as she gingerly walked into the obliterated parlour.
Brett was at a loss for words as she got a proper look at the once relaxing location in the resort. He knew he had an advantage from seeing the crime scene earlier with Chantal & Cecilia, but the trauma of seeing two murders had completely erased the picture of the crime scene from his mind.
The two guests tried to individually piece together where they saw Troy lay motionless in the parlour. They both thought it would be useful in terms of trying to piece together how the murder happened. Considering how there were blood splatters on the ceiling.
"I don't get how there's blood on the ceiling corner if Troy was laying on the floor and on the opposite side of the room?" Brett questioned out loud, trying to get Grace in on his theories.
Grace didn't reply but took in what the singer was saying. The author was more interested in looking at the pool table of the parlour which was almost completely destroyed.
The infrastructure of the large table looked unrecognisable. All four legs of the table had toppled over and were barely noticeable under the charred rectangular table. There was also a big part of the centre which had been blown out. The author also noticed how that particular part looked like it had the most trauma (aside from the brick wall which had mostly been toppled over), with that part of the table having the biggest char mark of the entire room.
Brett overlooked Grace's discovery and took note of the signs. Next to the destroyed pool table, Brett noticed the several high-quality pool cues which were gently resting in the wooden holder. Aside from being surprised that the cues were all in pretty good shape (aside from some ash marks), the singer noticed how there was one that was missing. It didn't take long for the guest to realise that Troy must have obviously been playing pool during his murder.
The muscular guest also noticed how (from piecing together the destroyed balls) that there was only fourteen on the table. The green ball '6' was missing. Brett couldn't find any remnants of the ball anywhere in the room. He took note of that discovery.
"I can't believe one of them killed their sibling," Grace said to Brett, still trying to soak up the double shock of the two guests being siblings and that one of them killed each other.
Brett nodded in response to Grace's statement. He personally felt stupid that he never put together the signs. He felt astonished how he never found it suspicious how the two were so naturally bonded while they were in a large alliance, and how much time they spent with each other.
For the rest of the time, the two guests searched in silence. It suddenly dawned on them both that they were in the final five, six guests had been killed and now they had a 1/4 shot in surviving the game. It also dawned on them that there was now two clear sides. The trio of Cecilia, Kendra & Grace and the duo of Brett & Chantal. Any shared information to the other side would only put their chances at risk of surviving.

"Guests, may I have your attention please?" May suddenly interrupted the two guests who were deep into investigating.
"The killer has made myself and the staff aware that the 'crime scene' area has two places of scrutiny today. Please follow me to Kristina Dreyford's bedroom."
It didn't take long for the guests to arrive into the bedroom and start their second investigation.
The two noticed the bloody knife on the floor of the bedroom. There was also several pools of blood on the wooden floor.
"This was definitely a savage attack." The singer noted.
Grace nodded in response, trying to soak in the surroundings.
Eventually, after twenty minutes nothing was coming around with Kristina's room. Grace was fixated on the bed of the gymnast, noting how the slightly torn up duvet was an odd feature in the room.
However, it was Brett who found the key piece of information in the bedroom. Diagonal to the door of the room was the same tiny metal trash can which was in every guest's room. Aside from the usual trash that would be in there, Brett found a scrunched up note. He knew he had to try and read the note without Grace noticing. He quickly thought of a plan.
His short walk towards the bathroom was cut off by the other guest.
"Where are you going?" Grace asked.
"Going to the toilet."
"Seriously?" Grace replied, in an unimpressed voice. "It's a bit disrespectful to Kristina."
Brett panicked and just shrugged in response.
"Asshole." Grace said before the door to the bathroom was closed.
Brett pulled the note out of his pocket and quickly skim read it.
Once the note was read, the resort bell rang and time was up for the guests.
Before exiting the room, Grace made sure to give Brett a disapproving look before making her way to the pool bar to grab a well-deserved martini.

The two blondes briskly entered the library of the resort and started investigating. The first thing the females both noticed was several newspaper articles laid out across one of the library desks.
"Wow," Chantal sighed, "I had no idea he was a sprinter."
Kendra added to the conversation "It's crazy how none of us really knew anything about either of them."
Chantal responded in agreement. She herself found it odd how she never asked either of them what their occupation was, especially since they were once in an alliance.
Other articles were all sprawled out across the table.
The model also noted how most of the articles phrases were circled in black marker. Several inked parts included the links between IP address trackers and the anonymous tips.
"Maybe he was trying to track down the snitch?" Chantal pondered out loud.
Kendra went through the newspaper articles in more scrutiny, and through scattering the papers struck something hard in the centre of the table.
"Ouch," Kendra exclaimed, throwing her hand back in pain after hitting the object with force.
"What's up?" Chantal asked.
"I hit something with my hand," Kendra explained before pushing the papers off the table and revealing a small laptop which was buried under the newspaper articles.
Both of the girls peered at the laptop with intrigue. It had felt like weeks since they'd come across any type of technology, and opening up the laptop felt almost strange at first. Initially, both the guests reasonably assumed that there would be no internet connection on the island. However, both were shocked to come across a webpage which popped up once opening the laptop.

The webpage was under the URL, 'www.anonymousscandal.com"
Both of the blondes read out the entry which was laid out on the slightly dated template of the website.
"Oh wow, someone was really after him." The singer said in astonishment.
The two guests both tried to explore the deeper web on the laptop, trying to alert some sort of police department that they were trapped on the island. However, the killer was obviously smart enough to block every web page except for the page the sinner wanted the guests to see.
Abruptly, Kendra was cut off from investigating from Chantal.
"I.. have a proposition for you." Chantal said nervously, leaning up against the library table.
"Okay.." The model replied, slightly unsure about what the beauty was going to suggest.
"I think that you could agree that every time you have been scared, it would seem that the two main members of your alliance seem to be spared. Maybe, you could join me and Brett? We'd keep you safe and depending on the riddle it would assure that both Grace & Cecilia are scared."
Kendra didn't reply for a few seconds before finally speaking up.
"I don't know if that's the right thing to do. I've been with them since the beginning, they've been really nice to me. They're my friends."
Chantal sighed slightly "But, you can't deny that Grace & Cecilia are the closest together. The two of them are hardly apart! They're gonna have their backs over yours any day."
The model looked around the library uncomfortably. "So what? I'm meant to ignore them and make it obvious I'm with you two? What if one of them is the killer and I get killed next for betraying them?"
"Well, do you think one of them is the killer?" Chantal interjected.
"No. I think it's Brett now that Mary is dead." Kendra was brutally honest.
Chantal was slightly taken aback by the accusation of her lover being the killer. But didn't care too much as the reason she really wanted Kendra on her & Brett's side was to drag her to the last few guests. It made sense to her that if she brought Kendra along and they were successful. They could get Grace & Cecilia out by default, who in Chantal's eyes were big threats. Plus if the plan worked it would tell Chantal that one of the elder females had to be killer. That would lead herself and Brett to try and survive in the end. However, she also knew that Kendra could be the killer so she had to keep an eye on her.
The bell rang soon after and both the girls left with the same clues carved in their minds, and also the smell of perfume lingering in the air.
-
Cecilia felt abnormally more emotional than she ever had been entering the morgue this time.
She had chosen the morgue as her investigatory area every time except for Aubrey's murder and most of those times either Troy or Kristina (or both) joined her. So it felt extremely strange that now both of them were on their own morgue metal slabs, with the still alive Cecilia glancing over them.
The single mother still couldn't get over the fact that the two were siblings. And their family unknowingly had lost two members in the same day. But she knew she couldn't mourn for long, she needed to find the clues, win the game and return to her kids. She wanted to see her kids more than anything.
She started with Troy. He had the most traumatic injuries, with a charred body and an exploded right leg alongside a massive hole in his stomach. She could also still feel the heat of the deceased's body, even through the latex gloves which were provided. She knew that from her countless times at the morgue that she needed to start with the area of the body which had the most trauma. Troy's stomach had a mark on it which in Cecilia's opinion looked like ash was spewing out of it from the gaping hole. It made sense to her that the injuries obviously came from the quake or explosion which happened.
The thirty-one-year-old took no time in retrieving the tweezers from the surgical table next to Troy's table. She retrieved something orange which was sticking out of the stomach, however, she didn't expect it to be what it really was.
"A snooker ball?" Cecilia asked out loud, feeling silly immediately afterward due to there being no one in the morgue with her who was actually alive.
Cecilia was at a loss for words, she knew that for that snooker ball to make itself comfortable in a small section in Troy's body, it would have to have been going at some force to destroy the skin layer. It made her physically shiver to image the force of the ball hitting her own body. She prayed to God that he didn't suffer too much.
The next course of action was to move on to Kristina's body. In terms of trauma, Kristina's body was a lot more 'clean' until the elder guest had to remove the twenty-year-olds clothes. She noticed the several deep stab marks on the pale, toned body which at first glance just looked like deep paper cuts.
At first, the lone guest thought that Kristina's murder was pretty simple. It was clear to her that Kristina must have just simply been stabbed to death. However, she soon saw evidence which she initially missed. She noticed how the typically slim guest looked about ten pounds larger than she usually did.
"That's strange," Cecilia commented as she examined Kristina's upper body in more detail.
She noticed that the gymnasts' arms, chest and face area looked extremely inflamed and lumpy. She didn't know what this pointed too medically but she hoped either Grace or Kendra found something at their areas to point at what this meant.
The bell rang a few minutes later, and Cecilia made one last prayer and goodbye to the siblings before leaving the morgue shed and walking back outside to the scorching heat.
