《Whodunnit 2》Chapter 4 - The Killer Shot

After all the guests returned to the great room, Giles let them know what was going to happen next.
"I'd like to say congratulations to the person or persons who solved the riddle. Now, remember, just because you solved the riddle doesn't mean that you are guaranteed to survive the night. You have to start by stating your case, in your rooms, you will all know that there is a mirror in your bathroom. However, little did you know, there is a small camera in it. When you are ready, stand in front of your camera and state how you think the killer killed Mrs. Fredrickson." Giles let the guests know how the groundwork would go down for the game.
"The two guests who do the worst in stating how they think Aubrey was killed will be 'scared' and one of them will be the next to be killed." For eleven of the guests, they each felt nervous knowing how even if they were second worst, they could be killed. However, for the twelfth guest, they could rest easy. He or she wouldn't even have to worry about stating a case.
-
After each guest finished stating their case and accusing who they thought was the killer in their rooms, they were each guided by the maids individually to a separate building on the island. Upon arrival, each guest realised it was a buffet building, with one single long rectangle table which sat exactly twelve. Six on one side and six on the other.
Ironically (or maybe not) the six of Chantal, Kristina, Brett, Colton, Jeremy & Troy were seated on the opposite side of the table to the other six guests- Mike, Kendra, Cecilia, Paul, Mary & Grace.
After Colton was the last guest to arrive, the twelve guests were allowed to rise from their seats and get whatever they wanted from the buffet. The buffet was 'all you can eat'. After such a hectic day, however, almost all of the guests weren't in the eating mood. Mary only had a scoop of mashed potato on her plate, and even she didn't touch that much of it.
For about an hour the guests were left to mingle and eat. Most of the young girls complemented their sundresses, while the older woman seemed to be more interested in talking about the game. The males however sat in moderate silence, apart from Jeremy, Troy, Brett & Colton's bond, none of the boys liked each other that well. Plus for all, they knew one of them could have been the killer. After the hour, however. Giles strolled into the building. The mere presence of Giles in the room made all the guests go silent.

Giles stared at the guests for several moments before ripping open the first card in his hand and reading it.
"One if you lucky guests have been given the honor of having the best case statement. Congratulations..."
All of the guests looked over at Jeremy, it was pretty clear to all of the guests that he was going to win. It was just the kind of aura he had around him the whole evening.
"Kristina!"
"WHAT?!" Jeremy & Kristina exclaimed at the same time.
"Yes, Miss Kristina. You have the best case statement tonight. So please, sit back and relax while I walk through piece by piece of how Aubrey met her death - for those of you who have no clue."
Giles then transitioned to the second card.
"Killing Aubrey was a killer shot." As always, the killers note started out with a sick pun.
"Once Aubrey applied to be a part of the vacation. I easily found her online, after looking through her various social media account, I found out that the once successful businesswoman loved a spot of tennis. So, once we all arrived and scattered around to explore this morning, I approached her. After bringing up the topic of tennis, the woman became elated. I opted to help her with the sport, which she accepted. Me and Aubrey took a tennis buggy from the resort main building to the tennis courts. As Aubrey got limbered up, I set my murder weapon. Using the tennis ball machine, I placed a single bullet into the feed. Once I made sure the ball was secure, I called Aubrey over. With the single push of a button, the bullet flew out of the machine and pierced Aubrey straight through the stomach. The impact killed her instantly. Once I made sure she was dead, I dragged her body back to the tennis buggy and drove her back to a separate building of the resort, and carried her up to the rooftop pool. I placed her on my secret sun lounger and set the special timer, which when it reaches zero flips up. To throw you all off, I smashed a glass bottle next to Aubrey's body to make it look like the glass bottle had a part of the murder. As the timer ticked down, I had more than enough time to drive the tennis buggy back to the tennis courts, walk back to the main resort building and blend in. I then waited for the impending sound of Aubrey's already dead body hitting the concrete path. Yours sincerely, your killer."

"Wow," Mike sighed.
The group all looked at each other with nervous glances. They each felt slightly uncomfortable at how sadistic the killer actually was, it didn't take an idiot to assume that the killer was clearly a sociopath and clearly mentally unstable.
"Now, I'm pretty sure you are all eager to find out who will be spared and scared and how they will know? Well, the time has come to tell you. At the bottom of your filled champagne classes, there will be an imprint of 'spared' or 'scared' at the bottom. Keep in mind, if several people do badly in stating their case, there could be more than two people who will be 'scared'."
Several of the guests gasped at the shocking reveal by Giles. This meant they would have to be extra careful in collecting information in the game.
"Brett, you have been randomly selected to reveal your fate first," Giles called the musician first.
All of the guests whipped their heads towards Brett. The tension could be cut with a knife as Brett nervously clamped his glass. Brett drank his champagne slowly before revealing his fate. The musician tilted his glass bottle towards the guests and showed the guests that he was with the black imprint boldly portrayed.
"Grace, you are next."
Grace's right hand shook while she grabbed her glass. She knew that she didn't really know how Aubrey died when she stated her case, so there was a high chance she could be scared. However, the author was revealed to find out she was .
"Good job." Cecilia patted Grace on the shoulder as she congratulated her.
"Colton?"
Colton didn't look nervous at all as he reached for his glass. He knew he'd be spared. And he was right, he was .
"Mary?"
Even if she was scared or not, Mary was glad that she was finally able to get a drink, as while she stated her case and was secluded in her room, she couldn't have alcohol. The eldest guest almost choked on her drink as she saw that she was .
"I didn't expect that," Troy whispered to his sister, Kristina as he learned Mary's fate.
"Troy?"
"Paul?" Giles called Paul's name in his usual tight English accent.
Paul kept a straight face throughout the entirety of him learning his fate. Even when he revealed that he was the first guest of the evening.
Most of the guests weren't shocked that Paul was scared. Especially Troy & Grace, who knew how oblivious he was at the morgue.
"Kendra?"
Kendra took a quick sigh before drinking her champagne. She loved champagne, but not when she knew that something at the bottom of the glass could be the key to her death. The minute that Kendra found out her fate, she burst into tears, she was .
Some guests weren't shocked that Kendra was scared. Some of them knew that the model wasn't the smartest of guests, so they knew she probably couldn't interpret the clues. However, some guests, A.K.A Cecilia & Grace were shocked about how she wasn't spared. They all made an agreement to say the exact same things in their statement. And since Grace was so far spared, it made the alliance question if Kendra intentionally made herself scared to throw suspicion off herself of being the killer.
Before Giles called another name, the room went into a deep silence. Each guest stared at Giles, waiting for him.
"The killer let me know through a letter that only two people would be scared in this round. So, Jeremy, Chantal, Mike & Cecilia, you four are all spared. However, the same can't be said for Kendra & Paul. I'm afraid to say that one of you will be dead by tomorrow. As for now guests, you can socialise around the whole resort. But, remember to keep an eye out, as a killer is on the loose. Goodnight Guests."
Each of the guests each hopped out of the dining table. They each passed the buffet before pushing the front doors of the building and meeting the humid air of the Caribbean island. For Cecilia, Grace, Colton, Brett, Jeremy, Chantal, Kristina, Troy, Mike & Mary, the air gave them a squelching hot sweat, but for Paul & Kendra, it gave them a chilling cold sweat. As they knew they could very much be dead by tomorrow.
They each felt nervous as they walked across the island to the main Resort building. Even when putting in the key cards to their suites, Paul & Kendra had to look side to side to make sure there was no killer lurking in the halls. However, they knew that one of them couldn't escape their fate.
One of them would die on the tropical island.
