CHAPTER 5: PERPLEXED

As soon as his deep sea green eyes opened, he sat up, the bed creaking loudly, from what seemed like, an eighteen hrs. sleep. He had witnessed the most terrifying nightmare. A nightmare still as vivid as any real incident.

He saw Annabeth, dying in his arms. There was a deep wound in her stomach and a deep gash on her back. Blood pooled out from both wounds. His own hands were covered in deep red glistening blood. Annabeth was constantly crying out in pain and occasionally coughed out some blood. Her lips were moving which gave Percy the idea that she was talking but he couldn't hear anything.

His surroundings was filled with scenes of blood splattered across the blue floor made up of coral. Explosions without any sound and Poseidon and Athena's blades clashing soundlessly against the weapons of other gods took place around him.

All of a sudden he had heard a weak voice speaking with difficulty, "I love you Seaweed Brain..."

And the body went limp on his arms.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Percy shook his head hard.

It wasn't possible.

He knew that Annabeth was alive.

"Percy?" asked a melodic masculine voice behind him.

The demigod jumped in surprise but uncapped his pen and turned around to only meet with a man in a black cloak.

The hood was thrown back revealing a man with tanned skin. His deep purple eyes shone with sadness and anxiety. His two calloused hands was spread in front of him, inviting Percy for a hug. The demigod refused to go near a stranger. For all he knew, it could've been a monster.

The man chuckled, as if he had heard Percy's child0like thoughts and thought it was funny that he would think of such ridiculous ideas.

"No Percy, I'm not a monster."

Percy replied, "Ninety nine percent of monsters use that sentence to prove themselves innocent. What makes you think I can believe you?"

"You can't. But you have no choice."

"Sorry?" Percy raised one of his eyebrows, "What do you mean by 'you don't have a choice'? Of course, I do. Everyone has a choice."

The person sadly shook his head, "You don't."

"Why?"

"Don't you remember?"

"Remember what?" His eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.

The man sighed, "I'll tell you but let me introduce myself." He spread out his hands dramatically, "I am Chaos!"

"Who?"

"Chaos child, Chaos! I know it is hard to believe but-"

"Whoa Whoa Whoa! Wait a minute! What is Chaos? Who are you? What am I doing here? What incident are you talking about?"

The man sighed.

"I am Chaos. Creator of the Universe. Father and Mother to the Primordials. I am the universe itself. It's just a body from a willing donator, a devotee of mine you see."

Percy gulped.

"Oh don't be scared! There's nothing to be scared about."

"You may not know about me for I'm almost erased from history. Nobody remembers me now. I am still existing because of my devotees and army back at home. The moment everyone stops believing in me, believing that I exist, I would fade. But that's for another time."

Chaos looked serious by now. His purple eyes as hard and cold as marbles and his arms were folded over his chest. Percy knew what was going to come now but he wasn't ready to hear it.

"Percy, the dream you saw, it was true."

Amazing, how few words can break someone's hard. Words have such a lot of power. Every single living organism depend upon them. Few words can change your life, break it or make it. Words possess such power that nobody possesses.

There were no words to describe what Percy felt. Blank would have been a sufficient word. But then, pain developed in his chest, spreading slowly. His breathe was becoming uneven. His body felt numb. There were no tears in his eyes. They were perfectly dry.

The truth was too much for him. Annabeth was dead. Maybe even Poseidon and Athena had faded or had been made prisoners of Olympus. He hoped it was the latter one. They both fought for protecting their children. They deserved better than this.

He felt a hand rest on his shoulder, "Percy I'm sorry for your loss."

Chaos took a deep breathe, "There's another thing I thought you should know. Although, this is a bad time but if I don't reveal it to you now then there will be no other good time. If this news would be revealed later, you wouldn't trust me. I couldn't hide such things for you. I am fond of you."

Percy whispered, disbelieved, "There's more? How much more of such news do I have to hear? Isn't it enough?"

"Percy," The demigod looked up, his meeting with Chaos'

"When Ares stabbed Annabeth, at that time she was......"

Chaos stopped, unable to tell the news. He turned his back on Percy but the latter grabbed his arm and forcefully turned him to look at him.

"She was what, Chaos?" Percy said with force in his broken voice.

...

...

...

Chaos simply stared at his hands.

"SHE WAS WHAT, CHAOS?! ANSWER ME!"

The man looked up at him.

...

"She was pregnant."
