《I Owe You Some Champagne (Usnavi x Reader)》You Owe Him

You slowly open your eyes.
You immediately feel a a sharp headache, and gently press your hand to the back of your head, where the pain was coming from.
As your vision focuses, you sit up and look around. Where were you?
You were in what looked like a spare bedroom. There was one window that had the blinds drawn, a small dresser, a mirror, a bookshelf, and a closet. It was a pretty small room, but everything fit good.
But still- where were you?
The last thing you remembered was seeing Nina and Benny, then you had a wisp of a memory of falling- but that was it. How had you ended up here? Why did you even fall in the first place?
You look around for hints of your location, then freeze when you see a hat sitting on top of the dresser.
Specifically, a flat cap.
Specifically, a black flat cap.
Specifically, a black flat cap with white stripes.
Oh, great.
You suddenly hear footsteps coming towards your room, and sit up even straighter.
Wait, no, that would look way too tense.
You slouch back down a little.
The door handle turns slowly, and creaks a little before it opens.
Your stomach does a flip upon seeing Usnavi in the doorway, looking the most nervous you've ever seen him, clutching an ice pack. He also looks a little pale.
You're also surprised to see him without his hat on. You've never really seen him without it on. He looks really different- but in a good way, of course. Different good. He looks really handsome.
"Y/N," he says, surprised. "You're awake."
"Um, yeah," you respond awkwardly.
"Did I wake you up?", he asks, worry written all over his face.
"Oh, no, I woke up on my own," you say. "Um, so, what happened? Why am I at your house? In your room?"
Usnavi sighs, then walks over and sits on the edge of the bed. He hands you the ice pack, and you gently press it to the back of your head.

"Well, um, you were walking, and were about to go around a corner, and I was about to go around that corner too, so we didn't see each other, so we ran into each other and you fell backwards." He looks away, then back at you. "I'm sorry, I wasn't sure what to do, so I just went on impulse. I carried you to my house, then had Mrs. Rosario come and look at you. She said she didn't think that you had a concussion, but it would be best to not move you around too much. I'm sorry."
"Why are you sorry?"
"Well, I wasn't sure if you thought it was fine that I brought you to my house instead of a hospital or something."
"Oh." You glance at the clock on the wall, and see that it's 11:00 am. "How long was I out?"
Usnavi glances at the clock too. "Um, sixteen hours."
"Sixteen hours? ", you ask in surprise. "Wow." You look around again, and see how much he's really been taking care of you. There were plenty of pillows on the bed and extra blankets to make sure you didn't get cold. You were guessing that he came in routinely to ice your head, and he had even had Camilia come and make sure that you were fine. "Thank you so much for... everything, Usnavi. I really owe you one." You pause, then remember how he had punched Carlos. "Well, a couple, actually," you laugh.
Usnavi smiles. "You don't owe me anything."
"I kind of do. First, you punched Carlos, and now-"
"You know about that?"
You look at him in disbelief. "Usnavi..." You study him. "You really don't remember?"
He looks at you blankly. "What do you mean?"
"Were you really that focused on opening the champagne?"
You notice his cheeks tint pink. "I must've been. I'm sorry."

You shake your head, then stop when that causes more pain. "No. It's fine." You let out a small breath. "No, it's just, um, Daniella told me about what happened, and I had thanked you for that... no one's ever really done that for me. And now you've beat him up twice for me." You pause. "Okay, I owe you a lot of favors."
Before Usnavi can say anything, you realize something. "Wait, isn't your flight today?"
He gives you a small smile. "I pushed it back another day. I figured there was no harm in staying a little longer."
"No, of course, there's not."
You both smile.
"Well,um, thanks for taking care of me. I really appreciate it. I'm sorry if I was an imposition," you say.
"No, you weren't, at all."
"Isn't this your bedroom?"
"Yeah."
"So where have you been sleeping?"
"On the couch."
You pause for a few seconds, not sure about what you were going to say. "...Why didn't you sleep in Abuela's old room?"
[Quick note: for those of you that don't know, Usnavi lived with Abuela. Okay, that's it]
His face falls and he looks away.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"It's fine." Usnavi looks back at you. "I just... couldn't, you know?"
You give a small nod. "Well, thanks for letting my stay here and everything, but I should probably get back to my apartment."
"Your apartment is a fifteen minute walk from here."
"I'll call a cab."
"Y/N. You're not supposed to move around that much."
"It's literally just through the hall and down the stairs to get to your front door."
"Well, that's too much walking. Just stay another day. I insist."
You raise an eyebrow. "You insist?"
"I insist."
You give him a small grin. "Okay, fine. But I would like to get up for a little."
"Okay. I guess that's fine," Usnavi says with fake annoyance.
You both grin, and he offers his hand.
You throw back the covers and set down the ice pack before before grabbing it.
When your feet hit the ground, you feel light-headed. Everything goes dark.
You stumble onto Usnavi, and he grabs your shoulders and pulls you against him.
"Are you okay?"
You don't say anything for a moment as you wait for your vision to clear. You take a deep breath. "Yeah. I just felt a little light-headed. I'm fine."
"Maybe you should sit down."
You're suddenly aware of the situation. You and Usnavi were clutching onto each other. In his room.
But you didn't mind. Any contact with Usnavi made you feel warm and just... happy- and this was no different, considering your guys' bodies was pressed against each other.
"No, no, I want to walk," you say forcefully.
"Y/N, I don't think that's the best idea-"
"I want to walk," you repeat.
He sighs. "You're really stubborn, you know that?"
"Yeah, I know."
Usnavi slowly takes you off of him, then grabs your arm and puts it around his shoulder. "Just... go slow, okay?"
You nod, then (very slowly) walk out of his room.
You pause for a moment when you see a closed door with a lot of old papers taped up on it.
"Is that Abuela's room?", you ask.
You see Usnavi nod out of the corner of your eye.
"I'm sorry," you say. What else was there to say?
You get another wave of dizziness and fall onto Usnavi.
"Whoa, hey, let's sit down," he says, and helps you sit down, leaning against the wall. He sits down next to you.
You're both quiet for a moment before you ask, "Do you miss Abuela?"
"Every day."
You lay your head on his shoulder. "I'm here for you, you know," you whisper.
"I know."

However, when he's assigned to room with a strange girl that has magic that even Henry is wary of, Damien realizes things might not be so easy. He sets out to accomplish his life goal of becoming a powerful mage, all the while dealing with a murderous professor, an eldritch creature that's created a persona to act like a teenager, and a new roomate that's far more perceptive than he'd like. It is not a full on litRPG - it's a progression fantasy story with litRPG elements. The story will contain some romance, but it will not be explicit nor will it take over the story. It starts off slow, but will pick up speed quickly around chapter 26. Enjoy! My Best Friend is an Eldritch Horror was origonally started as a way to thank my patreons. I will be keeping the patreon updated 15 chapters in advance. Enjoy! Cover art by Skyedrun!

I wasn't adding anything more to it, so might as well just release it. Learn from the experience, you know? Leave any criticism behind, while I may not be a professional nor plan on becoming one, I still am unfortunately a perfectionist. Oh, and tell me what you liked. So I know what I did well.
