"Um..." Lin's eyes were wide. "I don't know?"

You suddenly noticed the scene around you. A tub of ice cream was open on the counter with two spoons sticking out of it, paper planes were scattered throughout the room, and a stack of flowers laid next to the door.

You walked over to the flowers and picked them up. "I vaguely remember picking this from the garden outside my apartment."

"Right, uh, I think I said we should get married." You looked over at Lin, who was rubbing his forehead. "That was your bouquet. I kind of remember catching it then being excited about being the next one to get married- even though we had just pretended to."

You snorted, then looked around the room again. "Um, where's your shirt?"

"Ah, right."

You both searched your apartment, but came up empty ten minutes later.

"I mean, it has to be somewhere, right?"

Lin groaned suddenly, his hands over his eyes.

"What?"

"I think I took it off in the cab and left it for the driver as a tip."

You burst out laughing, gasping for air and leaning against Lin. "Oh my gosh," you said between laughs, your eyes watering. "That's amazing. That's so amazing."

"Come on," Lin said, but he was laughing too. "Besides, I'm pretty sure it was your idea to make paper airplanes 'so that poor countries could have paper.'" He used air quotes, and you rolled your eyes but smiled.

"Great, and the ice cream-" You stopped yourself, a memory floating to the surface.

"Liiiiiin!"

"Whaaaaaaat?"

You were sitting next to each other on the ground, furiously folding paper airplanes.

"R-remember that one time when we kissed?"

He scrunched up as his face, as if he was trying really hard to recall something. "Oh yeah!" His face lit up. "That was cool!"

"I know, right?!" You threw two airplanes across the room. "Wanna do it again?"

"Duh!"

You immediately grabbed each other, pressing your lips together sloppily. Lin deepened the kiss and you followed along, both of you going at a fast, drunken pace.

After a minute, you pulled apart, breathing hard.

"Hot diggity dog!" Lin exclaimed happily.

"That's exactly how I feel!" You popped up to your feet, and Lin followed suit. "How about ice cream to celebrate?"

"Of course!"

Lin tilted his head at you. "What?"

"Um..." You pulled yourself out of your daze. "Do you remember what the ice cream was for?"

He paused for a moment, thinking. His cheeks went pink and his jaw slackened. "Crap," he muttered, running his hands down his face.

"I know."

There was suddenly a buzzing noise in the room, and you both looked around in confusion.

"That must be my phone...which...I..." He pat all of his pockets. "Don't know where is."

You both searched the living room and kitchen, and found it inside one of his shoes.

Lin turned it on and started going though it, grimacing.

"What? Is something wrong?"

"It's Evy," he replied, beginning to type. "I was supposed to go back to her place last night to celebrate the party, and she's totally freaking out about where I am."

"Oh." You tried not to think too hard about what "celebrating" meant.

"Okay." Lin sighed, tucking his phone in his pocket. "I should probably go. Could I borrow a shirt?"

"Oh, sure-"

There was suddenly frantic knocking on your door.

You and Lin exchanged confused looks before you went over and opened it.

Standing there was a sleep-deprived looking Evy.

"Uh, Evy." You closed the door far enough so that only your body could be seen as nervous energy surged through you. "Are you okay?"

"No!" She blinked a few times, fighting back tears. "Lin's gone missing!"

As you took in her disheveled appearance, you felt guilt fill you. She was clearly genuinely worried about him and was thinking that something bad had had happened to him. And he had been with you the whole time.

"I need to come inside, I need someone to talk to," she said, pushing past you and into your apartment.

"Evy-"

"Lin?"

You cringed, turning. Evy stood in the middle of the room, staring in disbelief at the still shirtless Lin.

"Evy-" You took a few steps towards her.

"What's going on?" She demanded. "Lin is here, at your apartment, topless? And you-" She turned her piercing gaze on you. "Are still in your dress from last night! You two slept together!"

"I wish," almost slipped out of your mouth, but instead you coughed then said, "Evy, no, I promise you, just give us a chance to explain-"

"Explain what, that my fiancé and my best friend are hooking up behind my back?!" She was fuming, her gaze constantly going back and forth between you and Lin.

"Evy, nothing happened between us," Lin said in a calm tone, and you almost felt resentment towards the lie. "Y/N and I got drunk and ended up back here, but we both crashed right away. In different beds." He spoke as if Evy wasn't on the verge of a complete breakdown. "I was drunk, so I gave my shirt to the cab driver as a tip."

Evy didn't find that nearly as funny as you had. "How am I supposed believe that you're not lying?" She snapped angrily.

"Because we're two of the people who love you the most," you said, wanting desperately for her to calm down. "We wouldn't lie to you- and no matter how drunk we were, we wouldn't hurt you like that."

Lin glanced at you but quickly looked away.

Evy was silent for a moment, debating whether to continue yelling or accept the story.

To your relief, her face relaxed, and she let out a small breath. "Okay. I trust you." She turned to Lin. "Just try to text me next time you have to bail on a date."

"Right, yeah, of course. I'm really sorry."

"I know. It's okay." She gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. "Do you wanna go? We could go get you a shirt then get breakfast."

"Yeah, sounds good."

Lin went over to slip on his shoes, and Evy turned to you. "I forgive you, you know," she said, as if that was something you were worried about. But then she suddenly grabbed your arm and pulled you close. "Lin is my soon-to-be husband, Y/N. I don't care how in love with him you are. He's marrying me." She pulled back and plastered on a smile, leaving a mortified look on your face. "See you later."

She sauntered over to Lin, who gave you one last look before disappearing with Evy.

Once the door clicked shut, you flopped down on your couch, your headache pounding even more.

Okay. Great. So she's threatening you now.

Great.

It was Saturday, so in the late afternoon, you had to go down to the Richard Rodgers Theater and do a performance, but as soon as you got home, you reclaimed your spot on the couch and watched TV (like you had been doing all day).

Around 12am, there was a gentle knock on your door.

You paused the movie and got up, wondering who would come so late.

To your surprise, you saw an angry-looking Lin.

"Uh, hey, Lin. What's wrong?"

"Can I come in?"

"Yeah, of course." You opened the door wider, confused, then shut it behind him. "What's going-"

His lips were suddenly against yours roughly, his hands in your hair and his body pressed flush against yours.

"Lin-" It took everything in you to pull away. "What's going on?"

"I can't take it anymore."
