《In The Shadows (Star Trek TOS/AOS)》Part 1

Star Trek fan fic. I've been thinking about this one for a while and finally decided to write it. Please keep in mind I am half Cornish but live on the east coast so Cornwall isn't really a strong point, I know enough but call me out if this is wrong. I know that the name the spelling of the main characters name often changes but I am writing this on two devices one of which is on google and the auto correct is awful. Taking place with the kelvin timeline
Gweynneth Rosenwyn (roz-EN-win meaning "fair rose.") Morvoren (mor-VOR-en, meaning "mermaid" or "sea maiden.") Congdon-Williams was new engineer/helmsmen on board the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T Kirk. Little was known to the crew about her, what they did know is never mess with a Congdon. From what they could tell you did not want to mess with her, she was 6ft 4 maybe 5 and built like a house. Though she wasn't overly muscled you could tell never to mess with this girl. "Excuse me I'm looking for Captain Kirk?" A clear voice called from the turbo lift, "I'm right here and you are?" "Gweynneth Congdon-Williams sir," looking into each others eyes something was there but they both decided to ignore it, "So Gwennie," "Don't call me that, back home everyone called me mis Ebryl or gills but I doubt you can even pronounce that. Why don't you just call me Gweynneth or Gwen," "I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time locating your accent if you don't me asking," "Oh you needn't bother I'm from a small fishing village in Cornwall called Port Issac, most the people there have been there all there lives and have never even crossed the border. You'll have to excuse me if I start talking gibberish my first language is Cornish as that is what's spoken down there I didn't learn English till I started school," "Your rather chatty?" "Family trait no point me in the direction of my quarters and engineering and I'll be gone out of your hair," "Wait Port Issac is that? Fishermen's Friends?" "Yeah me pa is apart of the new generation of singers. Now quarters and engineering Mar pleg."

Kirk leapt at the chance of getting to know such a unique woman. They found common ground on fishing and folk music quickly becoming close friends. James loved hearing the ancient tales of Cornwall from Falmouth and the muppets to St Ives and the church bells each folk tale got more and more interesting. Once while on the bridge Bones stomped on James's foot whispering, "Your staring just ask her out all ready, most of the crew have a bet on you two," "Kirk?" "Yes Uhura?" "We're getting a message from the admiral asking if we know about The Lives Of The Sinking Cargo Ship." Gweynneth's head stuck up as she took the ear com from Uhura, "Yes I know, it's more that story that actually happened. A cargo ship on the way to Bristol got stuck and began to sink in the bay back home, lifeguards from Port Issac and nearby stations went racing to save the survivors in the middle of a record breaking storm. 40 men went out to help, let's just say 30 widows were made that night. I lost my own great grandfather in the accident. Yes I understand," she handed the com back to Uhura. The Lives Of The Sinking Cargo Ship that was the one story she didn't like telling.
After Uhura had finished she relayed the message, a group of fishermen singers were to come aboard and escorted to sing for the Romulan council. "Wait the Fishermen's Friends?!" "Yes why?" "I know them I'm in one of there videos my dad was holding me or at least my stepdad was he's my dad though. I can't wait to see my old friends again, I better warn the pubs on board they'd be wanting to do a crawl," Gwen scarpered with the laughter of Kirk masking her clumsiness.

Sure enough the pub crawl started very quickly. The Enterprise was impressed with the sheer tolerance these people had, maybe 10 rounds and still sharp as a whistle. 15th round was when things got rough, "Captain um, they need a security team in Holo Bar," "Why?" "Go see for yourself." 'Okay that was odd,' he thought to himself turning onto the Holo Bar corridor. The place stank of alcohol, the fisherman were having a good time and Gweynneth was half passed out at the bar. Leaving the security team to deal with the fishermen he took the beer glass from Gweynneth and put her arm around his shoulders. After only a few feet it was like lugging dead weight she was so out of it. No way could he leave her alone like this, with a great deal of thought he laid her in his bed and went to sleep on the sofa himself.

The most challenging MMO ever created—that’s how they advertised it. Taglines like, “Not your granddaddy’s game,” and, “Only for the hardest of the hardcore,” had gamers going crazy. Set in a gothic, Lovecraftian world, with fully realized A.I. NPCS, gamers were desperate to get their hands on the new game and dive in, and Clay was one of them. It was going to be tough, but he was ready for it. What he wasn’t ready for, was countless players having their minds hijacked and being transformed into mindless, hostile creatures filled with nothing but hate who killed anyone on sight. They called them the Bloodless. Clay’s best and only friend, Rey, moved across the country she was twelve, but they kept in touch online, playing countless games together, and when Blood Seekers was released, they were both ready to step up to the plate and face the new challenge together. But now, Rey has been taken by the plague, her mind held hostage as one of the Bloodless. A mysterious black monolith has appeared at the center of the highest level zone in the game, a place no one has even come close to. Some say it will provide us with answers. Others say it will only lead to more questions. Who’s behind all this? Why are people’s minds being taken? Will we ever get to bring them back? How many more will be lost if we stay logged in? Nothing is certain, but if there’s any chance that reaching the monolith will bring Rey back back, then Clay will do everything he can to reach it. This is Book 1 in a new series from Stephen Roark!
